I hope nothing. If he does do something it will just end up being unpatched and make 1.5.3 then 1.5.4 and it will hopelessly ruin MODS Bukkit and servers.
I don't care. If an idea is simple enough, it doesn't need to be explained in a 5 part essay. Honestly, how much more is there to a watch on a stick or a watch on a wall? But thanks for staying relevant. It really makes me happy when people are relevant.
Its not the same because then you can still see the ugly torch under your feet. But I guess Mojang is just doing their best. I just wish they would fix the detrimental glitches before they "fix" the beneficial ones. First water elevators, and now this. I haven't seen one SMP fix, nor have I seen much else fixed that has been making the game less fun to play. They are removing the ones that I like and leaving the ones that I hate.
That is sad. Notch needs to make the gold boosters make carts go longer at max speed and slow down at a lower rate. Then he can get rid of the booster exploit so that people don't have to use stuff like Minecart mania or lag the server with boosters. For single player It makes very little difference because boosters don't lag you out.
very cool! The only reason this appeals to me is because I hate not having half blocks or stairs for all the materials I want.
Here are the unaddressed issues
-What happens when you mine coal ore, redstone ore and diamond ore? This would allow people to end up moving actual chunks of ore if you did it one way, but it would otherwise conflict with the fact that none of those drops the block they are made of. If not coded for, you could end up with something nuts like 8 diamonds per ore.
-what about workbenches, chests, TNT ovens and bookshelves? Bookshelves don't drop anything normally, workbenches chests and Ovens are inventory blocks, and TNT asplodes. Tiny TNT would be cool to have, but how would it all play out?
-How would the smoothstone half blocks work? They are technically different blocks from smoothstone. Many people like their look, so how do you propose working with them and smoothstone?
-Glowstone currently breaks into 1/9th of the block(basically giving only 1 glowstone dust) People would exploit this by hammering the glowstone, and getting a 1:1 ratio buy rebuilding the glowstone back from 8th blocks. What do you think about this.(I honestly would like it that way)
I really like this idea. I have always wanted dirt stairs and this would solve that, and many other issues.
One of my favorite space conservation tactics was hiding light under, above, or to the side of stairs. This was a great way to leave more room for paintings so that they didn't have toches on them, or to light a room in the middle of large areas, or to save space when you were making smaller spaces, especially when building furniture.
I hope Notch adds a transparent wall panel to make this be as great as it was before. Because sometime having a torch, glowstone, and especially a jack'o Lanturn sitting there messing up my feng Shui is not cool.
Hey guys, a lot of suggestions are really complex and I just want to see some really simple but useful ideas. I hope you will contribute as well.
Clocks: personal watches are great, but sometimes it helps to have a clock, so I think crafting a watch with maybe 2 sticks under it could make a standing grandfather clock, or a stick border around the watch to make a wall mounted clock.
snow cover: Sometimes I like to terraform an area to extend its looks or change them. It would be nice to take 2 snowballs next to eachother to make 2 snow coverings for a block, or 2 snow blocks next to eachother for 8 snow coverings.
coal blocks:coal is the most plentiful source of ore block. Yet it is the only one that can't be made into a block(beside restone). If we had 9 block coal it would make storage easier and even make for a cool new decorative block.
bookshelves drop bookshelves:well, they drop nothing, so that would be nice to have.
choose painting size: it could use a drag click or something, but it is annoying to have to place and then punch down a painting to get the one I want.
creeping moss stone:A lot of people don't like the idea, but I think that if cobblestone is in rain, and it is touching a mossy stone, that the moss should spread, much like it does for grass. However I would suggest that the growth be about 8 times slower to make it so that it is still hard to create.
smooth glowstone:I see glowstone, I mine it. I get 9 dusts, I make a gloswstone block. I place the glowstone block, oh no I misclicked. I break the glowstone block I get 1 glowstone dust. why is this? 9 glowstone dust should make smooth glowstone(or something) which has the same luminescence as glowstone but when it breaks it gives you the block back instead of 1/9th of the block.
I think he should, for the pure reason that is a suggestion. Notch doesn't read suggestions anymore or even bat an eye at get satisfaction. He needs to get off butt and read us, the community has great ideas. To be honest I also want a more progressive adventure feeling as well, one that I can play cool adventure maps around.
I have the same issue. I can't get it to fix. I have tried reinstalling minecraft. Reinstalling java. Using java 1.7 beta. that broke after a month and went back to java 1.6 Then I reinstalled java again.
I am sorry to say, but assuming that re-installing java is the golden ticket is not very considerate. Sure, suggest it, but don't act like you know the miracle cure. This is a legit glitch, and only happens on SMP. The game just decides to give up. The only way to get it working is to use the browser version which means no mods which means no HD texture packs.
Just saying, I have tried everything I know of to do.
He isn't on vacation. He is accepting Awards for an unfinished glitchy game that happens to be fun and have a great concept.
True he has stopped looking at suggestions %100 despite the fact he said he would listen to our suggestions. Instead he is taking mods and adding them to his game...Pistons will be #2 mod added to the game. This is cool, but lame at the same time because its like he can't add anything good on his own.
In terms of the lawsuit, I am pretty sure the other guys will pull out the "its not the same code" card (which is true) meaning that they used a different language all together and made a similar result. that is like if Apple sued everyone who ever made MP3 players ever. Its just stupid.
is this still not in minecraft? Hmm, its only been around forever with %98 of people agreeing. Oh well, I guess it means Notch is super busy coding....stats....

But Notch integrated optimine into the game. So that is great news for everyone.
