Ever since Notch "fixed" the exploit for infinite mushrooms at any time, I have not been able to plant mushrooms outside during the day, or the night. I have been unable to find the new planting, or growing system. does anybody know anything about this?

This here clearly shows your failure to read the news posts; villages and the villagers that inhabit them are the item at the tipity-top of Mojang's long list.
I read the wiki on a bunch of stuff at least once a week, there hasn't been much in the future section, so how am I supposed to know?

    I fail to see how:
    • The breeding system failed in the first place
    • Why this would fix anything even if something was broken and
    • Why this makes more sense than the current system.
1, it is annoying to build houses that don't get used. 2, It wasn't broken, but it is more of a problem. 3, Most villager houses have 1 or 2 doors, and not 3. Also I mean detecting 1 house, and NOT 1 door.

Uh, no. They're fine. Just because they aren't human-like in shape and appearance means they're ugly? They're perfectly fine. You just expected Pigmen or humans or something and didn't get what you wanted. Sucks to be you, then.
The villagers are half human, half I have no idea. You can make non-human creatures look good, Mojang just failed to do so with Villagers.

No, really? I wonder if this is why Mojang hired a new AI expert some months ago!?
I'm sorry, but...just wow. No description of what you even want, and failure to notice the AI improvements recently implemented.
Why did Mojang hire an AI coder? Because Notch or Jeb can't do it themselves. Frankly that aren't that great of programmers, especially if it is easy to program a hacked client, make mods like Technic, and improve servers 10-fold with plugins. You can say AIs are difficult to program, but look at Mo' Creatures and tell me that it isn't possible to do such things.

They should only spawn in flat areas. Read below for quote. Therefore, a hill will only occur in a desert biome, and this is rare.
Plains have slight hills, and so do deserts. Those throw off the gravel paths, cause buildings spawn in weird ways, and not to mention ravines and other indents generated.

I get around a 50% to 100% boost in FPS, with settings above what I used to have. Now I can us an HD Texture pack that I like too. This has to be the best mod out there.

posted a message on Better Villagers
I've noticed many bad things done with villagers that Mojang refuses to change for some reason. I would like to bring to attention some things that are annoying, and should be changed.

First off, the breeding system is probably one of the worst ideas I have ever seen. To fix this, instead of 3 doors per villager, make it 1 house per villager, this makes more sense and should not be that hard to do.

Secondly the textures for the villagers look ugly, I have read somewhere that they are getting changed, but that was followed by a "[Citation Needed]".

Next is their AI, I find them to be incredibly stupid, and this ends up with them getting stuck.

Finally, make the villages spawn better. I hate fixing a village because of a slight hill.

When the person that cannot connect tries to log on, does anything show up in the server console?

    It does not.

Also BTW I am on a different ISP than the other 2 people.

posted a message on Bukkit Plugin choice help
I went to find bukkit plugins to use for a possible server, and I can't find anything because there isn't anything that picks the big plugins out of the small ones, and I find the categories are vague. Could you help me by recommending plugins that you have liked for the things I specify.

    Specific things I want:
-Lockette (this is the only plugin I know of that does what I want) or something better
    -Multiple groups with different permissions
-A command plugin with customizable commands with commands such as /home, /spawn (as in spawn point), and /spawn (referring to mobs)
-A rollback plugin with customization (such as how far the rollbacks go, and/or what chunks to rollback)
-A protection plugin that allows players to protect specific areas, possibly within specific areas
-Possibly a town plugin to only allow houses and stuff in a certain area

Anything you tell me about would be helpful.

    Thanks,
    Zknight

Is there any way to disable custom water and lava? I REALLY don't like the old textures, they don't fit with my texture pack.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that your server has to be running in order for it to check properly. Sorry about that.

Make sure to check ALL of your firewalls, including Windows firewall, any firewall that your anti-virus sets up, and any firewall the your router may use. If you have ruled everything out, then call your ISP and ask if the block any ports.

I cleared my 1 and only firewall of that port, the server was running, and other people could connect to it. It has only been a problem for 1 person.

Exactly the same problem I have!!!

Thanks to amdwiz I don't think I port fowarded properly

    I learned from here:
    http://portforward.com/

    Here is a basic checklist:
    1. Did you set up a static IP?
    2. Did you port forward through your router?
    3. Did you port forward through your firewall?

What is different between the person who can connect and the one who can't?
Are they both connecting from an external PC?
Are they on the same or different ISPs than you?

They have a different one from me, but they both have the same ISP. (The 2 people live very close to eachother) I have no idea why they can't connect.

    Terraria uses a different port.

My point is that I have done port forwarding before, and I have done the same thing all 3 times. I could go run Minecraft on Terraria's Port and Terraria on Minecraft's port if I felt like it.

    Here are some more details:
    - It only lags when there is water in view
    - It spikes up to the top (I haven't seen it go up past half the screen since I got this PC)
    - It lags in intervals, there is not a drop in like 10 FPS

For the port checkers to work, the port has to be correctly forwarded AND a server has to be listening for (and accepting) incoming connections.

If the port checker says its closed, then your server may not be running, your firewall may be blocking, your port forwarding may be wrong, or your ISP could be blocking.

The thing is, Terraria worked fine under the same conditions, and someone was able to connect to my server. This is just 1 person, and he happens to be the person I made the server for.

By default when you launch Minecraft, it launches Java with '-Xmx1024m -Xms512m' which only lets Minecraft use 512-1024MB of memory. To launch it with more memory launch Minecraft with more memory you need to do "java -Xmx2048m -Xms2048m Minecraft.exe net.minecraft.LauncherFrame"

How would I do this? I am thinking a batch file, but is there a better way?

I recently got a computer with 8GB of RAM, and Minecraft has worked flawlessly at 30-40 FPS on max settings. I have recently modified it with the Better Water (or whatever it is called) mod, and it was having lag spikes. I know my computer can handle running it, but Minecraft seems like it deosn't want to use any of the spare memory that I have. Is there any way I can fix this?
