A detailed walkthrough of the error, its code path and all known details is as follows:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK I am going to preface this with a bit of a warning, I have not tried to play minecraft like this, just a quick test to see if it works.
I am going to assume you alreday have requirements (eg Minecraft Forge) installed or at least know how to install them.
Go to the folder that the ".minecraft" directory is loacted
In windows press the windows key + R, type "%AppData%" (without the quotation marks) in the run dialog and press enter.
Sorry i do not no the location on mac.
Copy the entire ".minecraft" directory and call it something different eg ".minecraft-StarWars".
Install the StarWars mod normally inside the new ".minecraft-StarWars" folder.
Open up the normal Minecraft launcher.
Press "New Profile" in the bottom left corner.
Type in a profile name (eg "Star Wars Mod")
Press the checkbox for "Game Directory" and replace ".minecraft" with ".minecraft-StarWars" (or whatever you called it in step 2)
Select the Forge version required in the "use version" drop down box.
Hit save profile, select the new profile and play.
This should run minecraft from the location specified. You can then repete the process for the Lord of The Rings mod. You should then have 2 new profiles, one will start the star wars mod, the other the LOTR mod.
Step #2 didn't work -- I couldn't get Windows to allow me to make a copy of .minecraft. (I tried a couple of different ways, and there's something weird about the AppData folder, as well as the system not letting me start a folder name with a period.)
Instead, I was successful with the following:
0. Download the mod file.
1. Open the 1.6 launcher.
2. Click "New Profile"
3. Set the Profile Name (I used the name of the mod, in this case "Gravestone")
4. Check "Game Directory", and add the name of the mod to the end "\.minecraft_Gravestone"
5. Set "Use Version" to the latest Forge version. (Set to "Use Latest" if not using Forge).
6. Click "Save Profile"
7. Click "Play". This creates all the directories.
8. Close the minecraft window.
9. Copy the mod file to the \.minecraft_Gravestone\mods directory
10. Select the profile and click "Play". After Minecraft starts, click on "Mods" to verify the mod loaded ok.
Another mom here who knows just enough Minecraft to set things up for her 8 yo son.
What is the best way to manage multiple 1.6 mods? (I used to use MultiMC, but they haven't updated to 1.6 yet.) For instance, my son wants to play the Star Wars mod one day, and Lord of the Rings another day. Putting them both in the mods folder results in Forge loading them both, and that can't be good.
I can't figure out how to have multiple, separate instances of minecraft 1.6.2, each with its own mods.
I tried to download the mod, but my Kapersky virus detector blocked the file, saying the url was infected. Does anyone know if the file is ok or infected?
I tried adding the Starwars mod and then Too Many Items, but TMI just doesn't seem to work -- I press E for inventory, and the O, and nothing happens. I followed the videos for both, copying all the files into minecraft.jar. The only weird thing is I can't find a META-INF file anywhere to delete. Are there known issues with this combo? Anything I can try?
I tried to download the PChan3 mod for Steamships, but Kaspersky virus protection blocked it saying:
object is infected by HEUR:Exploit.Script.Blocker.U
I am fairly new to Minecraft, and am mainly loading mods for my 7 yo son. I'm using MultiMC 4.3.0.76, and loaded Minecraft 1.5.1 and used the Edit Mod popup to add Forge 7.7.2.682. I've tried adding the "You Are the Wither Mod v1.8.zip" on the Mods tab, but when I launch Minecraft it is not showing up in the list of mods. When that didn't work I added it to on the Minecraft.jar tab instead. In both cases I rebuilt the jar after adding the mod.
Am I missing something? MultiMC has worked great for the other mods we've tried, so I'd really like to keep using it rather than trying to install the mod manually.
I tried placing the .zip directly into the mods folder, and got the following:
2013-05-08 17:11:50 [INFO] [ForgeModLoader] FML has found a non-mod file You are the Wither Mod v1.8.zip in your mods directory. It will now be injected into your classpath. This could severe stability issues, it should be removed if possible.
Here is the full MultiMC console output:

Thanks! I've had to shell out big $$ to recover my PC from a bad virus recently, so I'm extra cautious these days...
