Looking back on Vechs maps, one of the most popular CTM series, how good do you think it is?
I would say a few of his maps are pretty darn good but on the other hand some are really bad.
On the good side I would put
Sea Of Flames - Sea of Flames 2
Not only was this the first CTM map I played it was a pretty darn good one not only did it revolutionize a whole new genre it was a pretty darn good map. I think it would still stand up today just not as an amazing map but I most certainly could get some fun out of it still.
Kaizo Caverns I really don't have to say anything here it was a really cool and enjoyable map.
Spellbound Caves This map was just amazing I would still say it's a pretty good map even today.
Waking Up Now this map was really amazing I would go so far to say this is his best map - and now that I think about it . . . Did I ever even finish it? I don't think so.... OH YEAH! I forgot at that time MC had just got a new update and it was to much for my computer so I watched vechs Dev Com and decided to play it when I had got my new computer - Well that is something new to do.
kind of in the middle I would put
Canopy Carnage
Due to some of my previous technical issues I never got to play this map all the way through but the amount I did play was alright I dropped it after getting some lag and by the time I got a new computer it was really really old news. It was nothing amazing but it was kind of fun I would say it is kind of like a better black desert with it's layered map it was pretty fun climbing around on all the weird trees. - I really wish Canopy Carnage II becomes a thing.
Inferno Mines
Although it had some bad areas I rather liked a lot of it. - Don't want to talk about this again so basically while some of it's areas were just giant clusrafu**s I rather liked it's smaller areas like the spider areas.
Infernal Sky II Now this one was just kind of boring although if I remember correctly it had some fun neither areas but the rest of it was just really boring and ultra easy. You can just walk strait from the start of the map to diamonds without fighting a single mob. . . . . .. . ..... Although that wood area. SO SCARY! Legendary Now this one I put in the middle because I just don't think it was that good but on the other hand I never finished it because I went to play it a while after 1.8 the hunger update came out and could not bring myself to go back and ended up just watching some LPs of it and from what I can see it was alright but pretty bad in most of it's area designs and even someone like me noticed how bad it's aesthetics.
On the bad side
Black Desert / Black Desert II While I did have a lot of fun in this map before I dropped it. It was just a really bad map. Not gonna go to deep in detail but it was just bad.
TL: DR I would say all of his good maps still hold up today but are not that high on the scale.
Community Question
I've tried to phrase this question properly, and I figured it needs a setup.
Some mapmakers include plenty or even just a bit of lore in their maps. If a map doesn't have lore, and it has a more tongue-in-cheek atmosphere, does it have to have aesthetically pleasing and grand buildings, or can it just put function over form (Etc. Super Hostile, Uncharted Territories, Remote District)?
It also really depends on the person. I personally can play any map as long as it looks decently and it functions well mechanically but I know there are other people that won't even play a map if it does not look amazing.
Wow that is impressive I have to make note of this...
P.S Q_Q I just started Ragecraft 2 and it is obvious now I suck now. my play is so stiff. I have not died yet but I know I would because I have played the older ragecraft. Guess I might have to go play an old map or I guess I could just launch up a survival map and get used to playing again. Or I could go all the way back and play Sea of Flames 2 the very first CTM map I ever played but in 1.7.2 that map is not easy but I am sure I would not feel any stress playing it even if I did die. Because at the level I am playing I know I would play so bad that if I played ragecraft all the way through I would die so many times I would go into depression. Because I really hate to die I mean I have actually restarted a map all the way because I died once while I was over half way through the map. I mean I did only die 4 times in my playthrough of UT3 and plan to play it again for a zero death run and I did manage to beat Inferno Mines on a zero death run. Well that is enough Q_Qing
that's be neat.
Small as in <16 wools, or small as in small areas?
Probably a bit of both because I still don't even know how to use MC Edit so I will have to do that and I don't feel like making those giant areas all I know is if I do end up making a CTM map it will probably be a 3 wool map maybe a bit longer with small but detailed areas.
at least you were once good...as for me...well...it's some ugly stuff.
Well I would say I am good at CTMs well playing them but on the other hand I can not build worth Sh**. So I think we are balanced but recently I have been trying to get good at building things I did finally learn how to make a good tower and if my next project works out I can no longer say that I can't build. and maybe just maybe I will make a small CTM map if all goes well.
Tho the question is.....if it is really a l33t haxor who can we "REALLY" trust????! Definitely not me but than again it could not be me because I don't have such a good since of humor. Well than again if it was me I would just change everything with an article about the flying spaghetti monster.
Good Point I stopped playing minecraft for almost the whole Release 1.6.X period (about 3-4 months I think) because I was hooked on BF3
I have not played it for about 2 months and been going gung ho on Leauge of legends I think I might go back and start playing again starting with Ragecraft 2.
ehhh why do you do this to me.... Q_Q
and here I was trying to catch up with this thread and than page 654 they go into paragraphs....
I know I could skip them but I think they are interesting.
and I want revenge......
I don't want to play your map anymore *hangs head in shame*
Edit - Does anyone else think this thread is possibly losing interest in the community or is it just me?
Well I think minecraft is just one of those games where you lose interest in it for a while than you find something new and get into playing (or making) something than you are gone for a while. How long those gaps are depends on what new thing you find and what kind or person you are.
Really man? don't be like that. We're supposed to be accepting as a community, not rag on people just because they were complaining about not being accepted here. Btw, bmn wasn't accepted here by a lot of people and i know that for a fact because i saw it happen a lot. And he's not the only one, he's just the only one who cared enough to speak up about it.
Give me the list. THE LIST OF PEOPLE THAT ARE IGNORED! I will find them and I will not ignore them so hard they wish they were ignored!
Hay I am looking for cool basic house designs! I have seen some pics posted here before. So if anyone would post a pic of a cool house that would be amazing I am just now trying to learn to build things and would really love some cool examples.
Thanks in advance for anyone that helps me out.
Edit: I have a feeling the reason I could never build anything is because I never tried to learn any techniques. That generally helps when trying to build things. I just googled "Minecraft Farmhouse" and started looking for little techniques they used and I managed to pick up quite a bit I did not know.
