posted a message on ΩThe Realm of Percy JacksonΩ - ΩCommunityΩ-ΘPvP/PvEΘ-πEventsπ-ΛDemigods and MonstersΛ-ΨRPΨ

Hello, I am zealot067; Co-Owner of the Realms. I specialize primarily in administration, along with staff/player relations, advertisement, and with content development. And, I'm finally glad to get a post out onto the MC Forums.

We are a medial sized community server, that has undergone major and amazing changes - in the staff team and on the map itself. We are now more fully dedicated to ensuring a fun experience for players - and have been developing new content at a much faster pace - along with balancing out items and events. Oh, we also do light roleplay!

We also are the proud hosters of the Valentor build team - who hand crafted our map, and many other parts of the server! Either way, if you want to look at the map just scroll down - otherwise you can find the IP below.

Our map is split into various sections, as is our server. We host three worlds, flatlands for building staff, wilderness for non-griefing factions, and the main roleplay map which cannot be built in. We also have an area for Olympus, which is fully explorable - and host a few war games (or training games) in arenas. You can take a look at our main map and Olympus below. (All done by the wonderful ValentorBT.)

    Camp Half Blood:

    The Argo:

    And the Strawberry Fields:

    Olympus:

    Heritage (Heritage)

You can select a variety of paths for your demigod experience. Soon even, demititans! Of course, we have to reserve a special few ranks - I.E. Big Three (or special three for demititans) for donations. All of which go to the server, and the network as a whole. Not a cent has been spent to any other expense. We also got the awesome graphics above from BlackEyeGoat, our other Co-Owner.

Oh, we also have Centaur, Nymph, and Satyr available to choose! (Soon to add Cyclops and more!)

Anyways, I don't want to bore you with anymore information! The rest you can find on server or on our forums at....

I mean help figure out a more balanced EULA - that won't result in the probable downfall of many servers.

I apologize at the miswording - it's late here and I'm not thinking my best. What I'm saying is we should be working with them to fix the servers, instead of them ignoring what those servers that are good, do.

Nothing has happened yet, but you should also know that nobody has (as of yet) changed their donation packages.

Furthermore this post was removed thrice from the Megathread on Reddit for no reason - which has caused me to get quite aggravated.

Sir, you must realize - that several other games leave themselves open for such endeavours, all the MMORPG's infact. World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2, etc - of which many allow you to sell services (or items themselves) for real cash. How Mojang is communicating this is ineffective, and needs to talk to us staff so we can together; fix this online world.

Hello, and welcome to this forum post; today - I want to share a few views of my own upbringing; so that I may hopefully, generate logical and professional discussion, based on facts and speculations.

Anyways, Hello! My name is zealot067 (or Michael) - I am a Head Administrator for a fair sized community server, which will be (hopefully) turning into a network. However, these new changes seem to have brought some terrible echos into the community - and I want everyone to be able to talk on a non-biased site. Now, asking this - I don't want flame posts, and kindly ask any moderation team here to remove them. Now, I sincerely hope some of those higher up chaps at Mojang see this; and hope I (or all of us) can have a logical chat with them.

Now; let's get down to business.

This new EULA gives me a sense of (I kid you not) dread - once I saw it. I knew immediately that something was amok with it - and delved deeper into it. It turns out, at some point, servers began to become play to win - and yet, up to this point in time - there was no punishment distributed! Now, I ask a simple question," Why not?" - well, I'm hoping someone up there will come and respond to help me with this.

Continuing on; I am further curious as why Mojang has yet to take actions against said servers which began to cause a problem. No official, public notices were given. And it seems a rather lazy attempt (in my eyes) to uphold the rules, which they have not done since the start. Further so, terribly timed. Many server owners see it as a shut down switch - as many of us are simply to poor to host our own without the funding of players. And, furthermore - with the ill-timed release of Realms, which offers an apparently easier alternative for hosting. (This ties in with Hosting companies, many of which will have to crash prices to compete with your own system in the case of large network/server failures.) I have not tried it, nor indulged myself to look into it - so I'll assume what's offered by Realms is similar to those offered by hosting companies.

Now, looking around in servers, and doing calculations - I can say as a server administrator, and with being experienced in this region - that by implementing this EULA; you are likely, in fact, killing individual networks. Mojang claims that individual citizens will support good servers in order to keep them running, without anything but aesthetical (I believe that's the word) rewards. Mojang, you are solely believing on a single principle without any backing! Players, as a whole online, are roughly in the 12 - 21 age group (don't forget to include the immaturity factor in the younger population); and I, as a person, know many below that age. In this age region, most simply do not have money to spend, and furthermore; will feel no obligation to donate if they can just move to another server! Players, as a whole (individual instances excepted) have a mind set that they need something from their donation. Trust me, I myself (as a player) wouldn't donate a dime if there wasn't some sort of perk that I was given.

Due to these facts alone, so many of the great servers which are sustained by donations via perks (and are balanced; Hypixel's Super Smash Mobs Servers simply are one of the very few examples of large in-balances - and yes, I have played it - the donator classes always win, regardless).

I would also like to include another question... People spend hours upon hours building something, in a game which honestly - has become a platform. Why cannot they be paid for the work they are doing, regardless if it's on a videogame or not? They put hard work in, they made it with their bare hands - the only thing they're using of yours is the game (or platform). Even the management teams of large networks, who often lose sleep, leave life events, or skip meals just to push out updates; similar to your own?

This may seem a bit biased up to this point, but I do agree - many servers are selling themselves out (similar to many unseemly jobs in this world) to players who can funnel the most money. I myself have been pushed out of a server because one person literally donated a few hundred dollars and bought full rights from the owner. It does sicken me entirely - but that's no reason to punish everyonefor the works of a percentage of the population.

So, I; and likely many of the other staff of networks implore you. Please, work with us so that we can fix this together - rather then it ending in a probable calamity within the entirety of servers and networks.

    Thank you, and good day.

    General Information:

    Minecraft Username: zealot067

How old are you?: 17 Years Old

What is your timezone?: Central Standard Time

Do you have skype?: Yes, zealot067

Do you have a microphone?: Yes

How long have you been a part of our community?: For a few weeks, I'd have joined the site and been active by now but alas - I couldn't find one.

How often can you be online?: Usually available if needed from 3:30 PM - 10:30 PM. However, 3:30 - 5:30 is often a bit rocky depending on my schedule, during the summer however - I gain an increase in time.

What experience do you have in roleplaying?: I have roleplayed for around five and a half years now - and I have simply fallen in love with it. I began on Halo Custom Edition - the unlikeliest of platforms. However, the platform was failing and it faltered in a year and a half. After this I left for Starcraft II - in which I continued roleplay for around another year and a half. Afterwards - I floated from game to game for a year, until I began roleplay on Minecraft. I have been roleplaying for about a year and a half on Minecraft. Starting on the server Eurasia - going through not two, but three versions of the server. And just recently left/took a break from one of my favorites - Uthrandir. I have no outstanding bans in any Roleplay server to my knowledge and plan to keep it that way.

What experience do you have in administering/moderating?: I have moderated on two small servers owned by Avamansui - both have since closed. Along with being a moderator on two towny servers.

Why should you be an RP moderator?: Simply because I have some skill in roleplay, writing, and show the possibility to become a good moderator.

Define powergaming: Powergaming - The dictating of another character's actions; often to benefit ones self.
Define metagaming: Metagaming - Using out of character information that your character does not know in character. Also often used for ones benefit.

List, in your view, the five most important rules:
    1. No Powergaming - By far the most important rule established in a roleplay server. Un-Moderated roleplay is often terribly scoured by powergaming.
    2. No Metagaming - Second to powergaming, this brings OOC conflict IC, and causes major problems.
    3. Conflicts are RP PvP Default - Limitation of PvP prevents tedious PvP reports and issues.
    4. Respect your fellow players and staff members - Respect is one of the biggest issues on a roleplay server; without respect there cannot be roleplay.
    5. Killing without provocation - This would allow characters to be mercilessly slaughtered by other, more powerful ones without a second thought. Or just generate problems in general out of characterly.
    Scenarios:

    1. Two players are having an altercation over an IC action. What are your steps to resolve it?:
First, I would talk to other observers and see if there is any logical proof. If neither are available - I'd talk to both individuals.
Second, I'd review both of their cases; and maybe present it to a few others whilst checking my memory to see if there was past incidents with the players.
Third, I'd resolve the issue; either letting the players off with warnings or finding out whom is responsible for the mess.

    2. A player is clearly powergaming, but no one seems to mind. What do you do?:
I approach the player, calmly stating what he is doing, and how he should properly roleplay. If I see him repeat those actions I correct him again. If he continues - I would kick him; with a warning. If he further continues to do so - a ban must happen. Temporary or full.

    3. Several players claim they are from another land not included in the lore and begin roleplaying. What do you do?:
I tell them to hold off roleplaying such land until it is cleared by staff or until apropriate lore is written. I'd also ask that their characters do not have the strengths they have in their past continent. If they cannot be inducted into the server - I ask that they remake their characters in this server.

    4. Several players form a House without permission. What do you do?:
Initially ask that the House disband without any staff interaction needed. If they do not disperse then I bring in staff to assist dispersing. Actions would be taken to prevent the House from reforming until they obtained permission.

    5. A player is confused on several aspects of roleplay. What do you do to help him?:
Initially, I find a guide to roleplaying - or teach him a few things about it myself. I'd then show him proper grammar and how to roleplay. I'd also have him re-look at our original post; as it gives many good ideas with what roleplay is about.
