Are you using Heavenly Soldiers? Only heavenly soldiers can be used to attack anything in the underworld.
Oh yep, that was (embarrassingly) my very problem, haha. I was so stuck on "Heavenly Soldiers are worthless" that I didn't even think to test them in there :x
I can't seem to successfully attack the Shrine and I keep losing money in the process, what am I doing wrong/what am I supposed to be doing? This is what I get every time I fight the Pigmen: http://i.imgur.com/FRI5SLr.png
EDIT: I jumped into the portal really quickly after defeating the Pigmen in the overworld, quickly clicking "Attack the Shrine!"—Is that what you're supposed to do? Even when I do that, though, after the countdown from 30 reaches 0 the Shrine's health never goes down.
What even is the point of Heavenly Templars, aren't they a waste of money? Knights are $100/KPE, Skilled Knights are $80/KPE (so better than Knights), but Heavenly Templars are $250/KPE (worse than both Knights and Skilled Knights)—why would I pick that? Do they die less or something that makes up for that?
EDIT: Just did some test fights against 48k Pigmen each time — using just Skilled Knights I lose 6,857 units (costing $2,742,800), using just Heavenly Templars I lose 2,182 units (costing $**10**,910,000).

How do I prevent the images from flashing? I've refreshed the page several times over the past few days, closed and opened Chrome, shut down my computer, etc. Why aren't they being cached?
Also, the horizontal scrollbar isn't too much of an issue but just the same isn't favorable (I have no idea what's causing it, maybe the screen shake? Although it's there before the screen even shakes on a refresh).

Small Suggestions:
I fought the Underworld's soldiers and lost because my 32k Knights died, but I also had 10k Skilled Knights and Heavenly Templars; it would be nice if when one army was completely depleted if it then used the other ones rather than defaulting to a loss.
It might be helpful if the popup for the Portal said something about you needed to quickly use it before the Zombie Pigmen start coming out again (while the number is still zero); I kept trying to enter and couldn't understand why I wasn't able to get in (I found myself thinking "but I've defeated the army several times, why won't it let me in?").
Thanks Despite the problems I really enjoy the game mechanics compared to Cookie Clicker, Candy Box, and other incremental games.
How old is this minecraft world? There is a problem in (really) old worlds that the stronghold won't generate. This is generally in worlds that have been made before the update where strongholds came out.
I believe this world was created about September 2010 (v1.1 alpha), so very old haha. Does that mean that there's actually no Strongholds at all, or just this one may have failed to generate?
When I created the world there weren't seeds, so I'm unsure if there's some way to extract a seed from the world (tell me if there is, it would be helpful!).
(I hope this is the correct forum for this, I didn't see a general "help and advice" area, if not feel free to point me in the right direction unlike my Eyes of Ender haha)
I am having some major inconsistencies with the direction my Eyes of Ender travel when released. This image shows where I've released them and where they fly to (tested multiple times). As you can see, the purple shows the center where my Eyes of Ender flew down originally, so I first dug a 3x3 hole and found nothing. I expanded that hole to 15x15 to bedrock and still found nothing.
If I release them from the top of the hole, the red and yellow float down to the center where the purple was going. However, if I release them from the blue or green sides they float off into the distance.
If I release them from the middle of the hole, things really start to get inconsistent. The yellow side floats off into the same direction that the blue/green do at the top. The green near the middle/bottom still floats off into the distance still.
If I release them from the bottom, suddenly the yellow begins to float up to the middle of the pillar again like at the top (the red also floats up to the middle). I've marked the general area where the Eyes of Ender keep going in the vertical center of the pillar. It's as if they're going to something that isn't there.
On the topic of the blue/green inconsistencies: If I follow that direction, releasing Eyes of Ender, after about 100 blocks the Eyes of Ender randomly start flying backwards and eventually lead me back to the 15x15 hole (wtf?). It looks like this (pardon my Paint skillz):
I've dug several 4x4 holes down to bedrock in that direction from both the green and blue corners, I've found nothing.
Any tips/suggestions/point out any obvious failures, etc.?

EDIT (10/10/12): I've used MC Edit to delete/regenerate the area and finally have a Stronghold there
If you have a 10x10 square do this.
W=water
O=dirt

Put the sugar cane on the grass, it's pretty effective, but isn't the best.
Yep, this is what I do. I place lily pads over the water and walk diagonally on the dirt to retrieve Sugarcane (it grows so fast and you can make the farm so huge that it isn't necessary to make a super-efficient farm).
The lag. I'm unsure how much of it is to blame on the servers themselves, but I feel like a lot of blame could be attributed to the game itself. I remember Notch talking about the difficulties he was having when implementing multiplayer support, and it showed (and continues to show), so I imagine the game having been built with a multiplayer vision from the start could have helped drastically.

Chrome (v. 31.0.1650.63 m), Win 7 x64.
It works correctly now (at least in the nether, so I assume everywhere else).

I'll look into it if I can't figure it out the old fashioned way, thanks!

Also, the word you're looking for is "which" (you even had "Witch" as an option for your poll, how did you not notice the misspelling haha?).
