May 19, 2012I have recently upgraded to the newest Ubuntu operating system and clicked on the minecraft icon.I could login as normal and the mojang logo took longer than usual load. Once it disappeared I went on to find this:Posted in: Legacy Support
I am puzzled as to how this happened.Before activating minecraft i had installed the hd mod from mcpatcher. I also had toomanyitems turned on as well. I uninstalled all mods from minecraft and the same thing happened again. I then unistalled and reinstalled minecraft yet the same thing happened. I repeated this many times but to no success.
If anyone knows how to fix this glitch/bug then I will be very grateful.

I completely agree!! I go on to mcserverlist, click on one of the servers and join, then i'm greeted with "You have previous bans" then they question you and treat you like crap....
McBans is a good idea, too bad it's filled with crappy players.... One time, I was banned on McBans for "Racism" just because I joined a server not knowing the admin spoke some other language. I said "Hello", they said "RACIST!!!! U DONT SPEEK GERMAN" so they banned me..... I went on another server that had mcbans and it said I was banned previously.. They started calling me a racist freak... and then they were questioning me....
sounds horrible. I dont play mcbans servers and never will. clearly they dont know what racism is. THEY were the racist people. they did not respect your differences. horrible nasty people.

simply put, it adds more npcs to the game.In a much more complictated way it adds npcs and improves the testificates, adding dialouge, shops and new villages.possibly with pig men villages, blaze villages in the nether and possibly underwater squid people!

Feb 12, 2012Posted in: SuggestionsIMPORTANT: Long time has passed and now I am certain that developers don't care about forums and community suggestions. But you CAN implement random textures into your texture pack and clients with MCpatcher or optifine will see them. I made a tutorial a while ago but it is horribly outdated and I have no idea how it works now and I don't feel like updating it, sorry.
The idea:According to my idea, there would be few different textures for every block (or almost every) that game would randomly pick when the block is placed or found already placed. Common suggestion was also to add random items too.This should improve the way everything looks (especially with texture packs) and it would work similarly to random mobs mod that is already supported and used in many texture packs. Look below if something is not clear for you yet.
Scheme below is OUTDATED due to changes in 1.5 then later in 1.6 In fact it's easier implement with today versionsMore pictures in the spoiler!

Y'know, this idea has been a working feature of MCPatcher since mid-April... I've supported it in my pack since it first came out. I'm kinda surprised people still don't know about it at this point. Check the documentation on the MCPatcher thread under the information for texture pack authors. The random texture feature is under the CTM support (method=random). You can even give weights to the random textures so that some are more likely to randomly show up than others. Here's just a few examples of some of the stuff you can do with the feature:
Random textures on grass, tall grass, and flowers.
Random textures on stone bricks to make them look a bit less perfect.
Random mushrooms with a closer shot of some of the random stone bricks.
Random labeling on TNT blocks. (You can also use random textures to give fences unique art not shared with planks.)

- I've found few replies in various posts about this, but I wanted more people to see it. This is only an suggestion so far, and i simply modified my terrain.png files.
- Mojang has already done something like this - mossy and cracked bricks in strongholds that add much more variation. And if any of you played Terraria, you should get the idea because variations between grass, blocks and everything else is also seen there.
- And since many of you mentioned, this could be optional, let's say a texture pack artist doesn't have enough time for this, he simply leaves all variants of block texture same.
You're welcome to send me more pictures showing how this feature looks in a texture pack of some kind. I'd post them here.

After driving from your home to meet your long-distance lover, a storm brews, and you are forced to take shelter. With nothing in sight for miles, you spot an old mansion in the heavy fog. Your car breaks down however, so you walk the rest of the way. The gate slides open and you walk inside. Behind you, the gates lock tightly. As you wonder who is inhabiting this house, a cart filled with interesting items is adjacent to you, opening it up, you realise your deepest and darkest fears have come into reality...

1. Play on at LEAST Easy. This is a haunted mansion, ater all. Let there be horrendous monsters lurking upon the hallways.2. Do not alter the time and weather. The world must be kept in it's natural state, no matter how un-natural this mansion may be.3. No placing blocks or destroying them unless told. It's an adventure map, but feel free to kick ass!4. No fists? Yeah, sorry. You can't kill a monster with fists, your fear can only be overcome with weapons.5. Certain settings must be used for creepy effect. Music should be full (unless using the ambience track, then MUTE), sounds on full, normal FOV, no changing view with f5 either, tiny render distance for fog effect and moody brightness.6. You can ONLY place one torch, then remove it, due to the fact that held lanterns do not dynamically light up where you walk (lUnless you use the Dynamic Lights Mod)
Your Purpose Here
After being stuck here as your only option of shelter, you manage to get inside of the house, soaking wet. Once inside, you hear things through the walls, pondering and questioning your sanity. As you wander the lifeless hallways, you find various notes scattered around. These notes are essential to finding out the mystery holding the story of this here mansion, a love story not heard ever in the world. Your childhood nightmares have became a reality, and you must overcome the disturbing creatures that lurk the mansion's rooms. You may craft weapons from various found items left by it's last inhabitants (only durable items for fighting). There are two endings, one results in dying, and the other? Well, let's not spoil the fun, shall we...

Joshofsouls1993's Last RequestAlright, I have to say, the map is definitely very creepy.
I think the whole rainy start really adds to the "Trapped" feeling of it, and makes it pop.
The graveyard was a nice little bit that wasn't TOO funny, Which didn't take away from the scariness of the map, and it still maintained a nice feel of horror when you read the graves.
I very much like the use of spawners to keep you on your toes, I found myself saying "OH GOD DAMMIT STOP THAT!" to the zombies a few times. I really like the story as well, it made me look forward to the next note.
Overall, I'll give this map a 8/10, just because I think the Outer design for the mansion COULD be a bit better.
appleslinky's Last RequestThis map is amazing. The grim atmosphere and tragic storyline are very well executed in the map, and the feeling of actual survival is very well done. I was actually very relieved when I found a weapon to defend myself with, not just "oh that's helpful".
The story itself was very well done as well, with the telling of his experiences done very well. I feel the story could use a bit more emotion in it, but that isn't really urgent.
The only other problem I have with the map is that the outer design of the mansion could be a bit more extravagant or elegant, as it seems a little flat right now.
Overall, 9/10. Very well done map, albeit a little confusing at times. Well done!
A Helping Hand
While this map is COMPLETELY VANILLA, I do know of some advantageous mods that make the game feel more "alive" in a sense, not just the walls of the mansion, of course.
Dynamic Lights Mod:Perfect for walking around the dark home, revealing enemies without the need to place a lantern then breaking it to pick it up. GET THIS MOD! It is like, 200% better, experience wise, and you will feel alot more enticed into the game.

My map was first sprung into thought the day I became acquainted to the Minecraft Forums. After venturing in the various sections, I ended up in the Screenshots department, where upon I saw many beautiful mansion homes not unlike real life ones (In before Playboy comment). I had always had the idea etched into my mind from the first post I made here, yet never could do it due to my lack of enthusiasm.
A few months ago, I made a texture display map and got a reply from the creator of Isolation, AppleSlinky. As I toured and videoed the map, I realised it's gruesome atmosphere and remembered my mansion idea. Well, after coming back to his thread recently, many things changed, with mobs being implemented.
Today, I have started what is the beginning of Isolated Mansion. I hope to hear your feedback, both good and bad. I also hope that AppleSlinky approves, and make a good impression of his texture pack.
This map is under a Creative Commons Liscence. You may not alter, tweak or use this map in any profitable way. Consequences may be held upon you if done.

EDIT EDIT. It doesnt matter if its male or female. I think the female snout would match the shape of the gasmask. And, the actual Pyro is gender-ly ambigous. Anyway, when I tried my skin (unupdated skin) the neck looked kind of odd. Maybe adding a small design to it would help. Anywho, god-speed. Please update it soon, have a nice day.

Or are you a more recent player who just wanted to see what the game looked like before you even knew of Minecraft? Well, you are not alone. Not even close to alone. There are hundreds of thousands of players who think this way.

So ever since Alpha 1.2.0 when the terrain generation was altered (and in my opinion, screwed up), I've wanted the classic Alpha terrain with the current version's features. In December '10, I was happy to see MCNostalgia, as it allowed me to play Alpha 1.1.2_01, which had what was my favorite terrain generator. I loved it, but the loss of current features and the heavy presence of bugs kept me from staying there.
My SolutionI am requesting a mod that allows for users to change the Minecraft version that it generates terrain from, and that being the only thing that changes; gameplay, items, blocks, ect will all be as of the client's version.
I am fully aware of the mods out there that do this by changing all worlds made to preHalloween Alpha, but the reason I am calling for this mod is for extreme convenience and flexibility.
I propose that the terrain type would be set upon creation of a new world, as shown here:
These are the versions you can choose from
- Alpha 1.1.2_01 (3rd gen Terrain)
- Beta 1.1_02 (4th gen Terrain w/o new trees)
- Beta 1.7.3 (4th gen Terrain w/ new trees)
- Beta 1.8.1 (5th gen Terrain w/o snow biomes)
- Minecraft 1.0 (5th gen Terrain w/ snow biomes)
Remember, a built in way to customize which seed a world generates from was added in Beta 1.3, so this mod would allow for 1st through 3rd gen terrain to be made from specific seeds; this is something that backdating your client can't do.
"Now wait, why the hell would people want old terrain? Older obviously means worse."The new terrain just sucks. Once you have seen what a biome looks like, you've seen them all. Forests, swamps, deserts, taigas, grasslands, and tundras are flat as hell. Mountains are cool, but they are very difficult on gameplay as it takes 5 minutes to find a single tree. The underwater terrain is just this hodge-podge of dirt and sand, and looks extremely ugly. Swamps' coloring looks cool when you are in it, but the sudden boundaries of dark to light grass looks retarded.

Now, 3rd gen terrain was based on 3D Perlin noise and created these very dynamic and visually appealing terrain. A new world felt new, and you really don't know what you are going to get, compared to now, a biome makes it extraordinarily obvious what the terrain is going to look like. 4th gen terrain lessened the extremity of the terrain, but was still random, and biomes were just an add on and did not affect the terrain as much as they do now.
Take a look at this video that has 3rd gen terrain of Alpha 1.1.2_01. 3rd gen worlds will generate cool terrain like this in almost all times you made a new world.
People who complain that new Minecraft sucks and how Alpha was epic are usually only miss the terrain generator; they played the game for a sense of fantasy and light-hearted gameplay, not this new dark and demanding game that has come of. This mod will be able to shut those people up for good, combining the new version with old terrain, and in combination with a texture pack, can make these guys love playing Minecraft again.
I backdated my client for the fun of it to play some mid Alpha, and after only 6 tries for an epic world, this is what I got. This is why I love Alpha.

"I know how to mod, but what's in it for me?"If you make the mod and do a good job with the design and promotion, you could later rewrite it to allow custom imput of terrain. Then other mods will use your mod (Similar to what happened with Risugami's ModLoader) which will really push you high into the modding community.
Also refraining from making this mod because you don't actually have backups of the generation code? Well MCNostalgia will allow you to revert your game to these versions and just go from there.
Still not convinced this is worth your modding time and effort?There is a person out there who is walking to the Far Lands (Kurtjmac), and he is stuck with using 1.7.3 because the Far Lands were removed in 1.8. As time goes on, he will be stuck with using this old version while the Minecraft community passes him by, so by making this mod, you will allow him to generate pre1.8 terrain with the newest gameplay aspects, spicing up the videos for more enjoyment on his part, and others'. So please, someone create this mod, after all, Kurt is doing it for charity (and has already raised $11,000!).
"Ok, I'm up for the job. What exactly should this mod include?"
- An entry in the level.dat file for each world that defines which terrain to generate from (of the 5 I have bulleted above.
- New worlds: Chosen via a button in the picture above.during world creation
- Old worlds: If it is the first time an existing world has been used with this mod, prompt which terrain it was generated with
- The exact same terrain
- Players should be able to take a 1.7 world and set to 1.7.3 terrain generator, and upon entering new chunks, there should not be a chunk border, even if the new terrain is in the same style.
- Restore old functionality
- No tall grass until Beta 1.6, so Alpha 1.1.2_01 and Beta 1.1_02 worlds must be able to use hoes on grass for seeds. Optional
- The currently unused World Type button could be used on Alpha 1.1.2_01 maps upon world creation to generate between a regular world and a snow world.
- Add in 1st gen (Classic) and 2nd gen (/indev/) to the version selections. This is optional because these generation code were written for finite maps and may or may not be possible, or time consuming to adapt to the infinite terrain. 2nd gen worlds will allow the World Type button to chose from:
- Island (Survival island type style map, infinite ocean beyond the one island)
- Inland (Just continuous map of inland terrain)
- Flatgrass (This is useful as hell nowadays)
- Floating (Creates a new challenge and is really cool)
- Strongholds should be generated in pre1.8 worlds, in such a way that does not alter

"I'm not a modder, but I really like this idea!"Well this topic has about 50,000 views, which is really amazing, but still there are thousands of people who would love this mod but do not know about it. The use of the signature I made really draws people in, like you, to see this topic.
I put it as my signature for a month and regularly posted on the Survival Forum, and brought in 2,000 views. Two weeks later after I allowed others to use the sig, this topic has reached 7,000 views. After a month, we're up to 27,000. Just imagine if another hundred people used this sig for a month.

The Redstone tunnel block functions as a cover for redstone wires, making it possible to hide the wires making traps. It should be crafted like this:
The block should be craftable with stone, cobblestone, stone bricks, wooden planks and sandstone (for short, all blocks that can be made into slabs).
When the redstone tunnel-block is placed down it has both functions of whichever block it's crafted with and a redstone wire. That means it will even start off in all directions until another wire or tunnel-block is laid down next to it, like a redstone wire.
Depending on which direction the wire goes, the redstone tunnelblock will not interfere with other wires. It can therefore also make contraptions more compact.
If all this was difficult to understand, I have modified an in-game screenshot to portray how it would look:

Using this block in your castles in a PvP-world makes it harder for your enemies to detect the traps.
I usually lead the wires under the walls for my traps, like this:
But using these circuit-tunnel-thingies I can hide the wires directly under the floor:
Running two parallel wires next to each other is a difficult task. If you use repeaters to solve this problem there will also be a slight delay between the currents.
But with the redstone tunnelblock, this problem is no more!
Another example of how compact a circuit with redstone tunnelblocks can be:
Also, aside from PvP-traps, this could also be very useful for the normal, everyday redstone circuits we have, as it saves a lot of space and you don't have to have wires lying around.
It is not supported by air, as it has redstone dust in it and will therefore break if the block beneath it is removed.
It takes the same time to mine as the block it's made out of would do.
You will not be able to place levers, buttons and such, if anybody is wondering.

When you first boot up, you're shown a main menu. In the main menu, there are three buttons, which I'll explain in a second.
I'll start with open.
Hitting open brings up a window, where you can select a texture pack in a zip file. From there, it takes you to the texture editing window, with all the zip file textures there. If a file is missing or doesn't work, it will make the file default textures.

The TEW is another menu style window, but has different options:
Once you finish your edits, you go back, and click save, which places the texture pack somewhere as zip file.
