Hey, I do not have the same problem but I may be able to help. First of all, did you try to reinstall (or install) any mods to your minecraft.jar when u updated? If so or if not, When you are on the page of Minecraft that lists their news, do not log in. Instead, click options next to the logging in bars. Then click 'Force Update' and log on. Does it work now?
