That would be sweet! Only downside is that Pocket Edition boats are rather slow. I suppose it makes sense since you're paddling (yes, with a wooden shovel), but still.

Also, clearly you won't be steering it the same way. Not sure how that'll work with mouse and keyboard.

I don't know either. but a shovel with Efficiency enchant should speed up the boat. That way, if you used a resource pack to make boats go-karts and water to black road and a wood shovel to a steering wheel, you could use commands to get a higher Efficiency level to speed up the boat more! If there is a max speed to the boats, then Efficiency would increase acceleration! Boom, boom, boats are the new car! Crashable too! (hope the collision detecting is possible to fix, and maybe can be put into NBT format to set collision speed to break the boat!)

They're probably just going to port the boats from Pocket Edition/Windows 10, which have functionable riding code, are unbreakable, have a paddle system, and can carry 2 mobs.

Paddle system... shovels have a better use, too?

what do you guys think about the 2 iron ingots recipe yielding 3 chains, then? better than gold, worse than iron, you get more chains out of the iron.

Yeah I don't think there's a way to mix the two parts without one side being unbalanced

Unless we got rid of "chains" and just used "chain links" instead. "Chain links" will make armor instead. We could rename "chain links" to "chains" then. A bit fairer, eh?

Well yeah but chainmail is just for looks. It's worse than gold armor. It is far beaten by iron and diamond. And with this recipe it would cost more than iron armor. Nobody's gonna be repairing chainmail more than once

Dang... you're right. How would we get a recipe then? WAIT! They could make chainmail be just (if not, then close to) as much durability as iron, for the same cost. Say, the 2 ingots would yield 6 "chain links" instead? Making those 6 together would yield 2 "chains", so 2 iron ingots = 2 "chains."

EDIT: Wait, figured out what you are saying. oops. Well then, just increase durability for chainmail, or the recipe for "chain links" would yield 12 "chain links" instead. But then minecarts would be crazy with attaching.

Just in case you guys didn't know, just like to say that while it is uncraftable, chain armor is repairable, by using iron with it in an anvil. So it's basically get it once and you can have chainmail forever. Just letting you know :)

And you can do that on any bit of armor. but for every repair, the price spikes up, making it limited. I don't think anyone would want to repair chainmail for 64 XP Levels. :P

I'm looking forward to 1.9! The shields are so cool. I don't usually do snapshots because I've already had enough trouble with minecraft. The Mojang team keeps posting tweets about the zombies and their "clothing", are they talking about armor in the snapshot?

No, they're talking about villager zombies wearing torn villager clothes. That's what I think.

I like the idea of linking minecarts together, but I prefer the idea of using leads to link them together. I also don't like chainmail being craftable, I personally believe Minecraft needs more uncraftable, rare drop items.

    Partial Support

Think of real life: would you use a leash to keep minecarts together? It can break easier than chains, and in minecraft, leashes would require a LOT of distance before it even starts pulling it. You want a short distances, like with real trains. they have chains pulling other carts (mainly shipping carts). think of a leash pulling THOSE things.

thinking of that, I actually want to see that happen.

EDIT: forgot about the chainmail part. I like your thinking about the uncraftability, but it wouldn't hurt to have 4 more things be craftable (the whole set of armor)

Hi guys, trying again on a suggestion.

There should be a new Item called "chain links". Crafting would be 2 iron ingots, flattened down horizontally, yielding 8 "chain links". Then you can use this Item to chain 2 Minecarts together!

If you are holding a chain, then right-click one of the minecarts that already links to another, then it will use another chain to allow another Minecart to be chained with it, making a longer train. If you want to remove a chain from a minecart, hold the sneak button, then right-click the side that you want to remove the chain from. If you want to get in a minecart that is linked, don't hold a "chain links" in your hand and right click it.

This kind of replaces the shunting system of the furnace minecart. The minecarts will be linked like the leashing system, yet a bit newer. It will pull them when they are closer (say 1.5 blocks away) so that it won't un-link from going up/down/turning rails.

BONUS: Put 3 chain links flattened horizontally on a crafting table to make "chains". With this, you can finally make Chainmail Armor!

    REASON FOR NEEDING THIS:

    • Better Minecart Linking System (Duh)
    • Makes maps MUCH easier to make when involving Minecarts
    • Finally a recipe for Chainmail Armor!
    • It can be easy for Mojang to make this.

If you have some concerns, see to it that you tell me, and we'll see what we can do about it. I'm sorry if there was any other threads asking for this, I didn't find any like this.

So far as I can tell, the attack speed is the number of times per second that you can attack for full damage.

    Quote from Kholdstare»

    (edit: i'm stupid, ignore this)

(double edit: actually, I'm not, but I overcomplicated it; fixed it)

Attack speed represents how fast a weapon fully recharges. The formula for how quickly a weapon recharges in seconds is 1/[attack speed].

To calculate DPS, the formula would be [damage]/[recharge rate] OR [damage] * [attack speed]; however, if the recharge rate is less than 0.5 (the mercy invincibility timeframe), the formula is instead [damage]/0.5.

That means that the DPS of every diamond tool (assuming perfect timing) would be as follows:

    No crits, no Sharpness

    Swords: 11.6

    Axes: 10.2

    Pickaxes: 9.0

    Shovels: 8.5

Hoes: 6.0 (Technically 12, but mercy invincibility will prevent half of your hits from connecting assuming perfect timing.)

    Crits, no Sharpness:

    Swords: 17.4

    Axes: 15.3

    Pickaxes: 13.5

    Shovels: 12.75

    Hoes: 9.0 (technically 18)

    No crits, Sharpness V:

    Swords: 20.6625

    Axes: 14.6625

    Pickaxes: 16.875

    Shovels: 13.75

    Hoes: 16.5 (technically 33)

    Crits, Sharpness V:

    Swords: 25.0125

    Axes: 19.75

    Pickaxes: 21.375

    Shovels: 18.0

    Hoes: 19.25 (technically 39)

Wooden tools, no crits, no sharpness (to see if axes are better than swords at low levels):

    Swords: 7.25

    Axes: 7.65

    Pickaxes: 4.5

    Shovels: 5.5

    Hoes: 4 (technically 8)

    Stone swords vs. stone axes:

    Swords: 8.7

    Axes: 8.5

So, basically, swords are still the best weapon except at VERY low levels. Somewhat surprisingly, pickaxes and even hoes actually outperform axes at very high levels. Don't be deceived by those high damage numbers, the attack speed makes them only really useful for oneshotting mobs on crits (which does keep them useful in PvE) and stunning shields. And to those of you saying shovels aren't weapons and shouldn't have higher damage than swords; guess what, their DPS is crap, especially when Sharpness is added in and hoes can get a not-terrible damage rating.

(If for some reason you want to check my work, remember to add 1 to the wiki's damage values, as they ignore the player's base damage which is added on to the weapon's bonus damage. Also, crits only multiply the unmodified damage of a weapon by 1.5; they do NOT count enchants towards the modifier.)

Wow thanks guys I'll have to remember that. but it cancels out at -4 or so (using commands to get speed) and can never be pulled out.

The strictness of the JSON broke all the machines I was going to try. Why did it have to be strict?

AAAND the removal of the Equipment tag destroyed almost all the machines I was going to test! (about 7 were not by me, and about 15 were) Couldn't they keep the Equipment tag as a Secondary thing instead of removing it? I mean, come ON! Mojang knows that many machines would break.
