((I'm terribly sorry, but I won't be able to write a reply until friday/saturday. Class is going on a hike in the mountains so I'll be out of range and thus wont be able to write anything. Again, I'm terribly sorry ))
Stephen looks down at the prisoners again after taking the last minutes to watch the extremely boring horizon. Nothing but sand, sand, and more sand as far as the eye could reach. "Water?" the princesses question couldn't be categorized as another stupid question, asking for the most valuable liquid in the world was actually quite reasonable. "You'll get your water when we reach our destination. But I assume you'll need some kind of liquid to be able to get there" Stephen started to search through the saddlebags on his camel. For a short moment he thought about giving them the half-empty bottle of whisky, but he wanted to save that for later. Besides, he couldn't waste such fine liquor on his prisoners. He did find a half full canteen filled with water, it took him another few seconds before he decided to give it to them. No reason of killing them of before he knew the value of the rest. "Here, its your ration for the day" he said and threw the canteen to the princess. Half a bottle on four people sure as h£ell wasn't much, but it was better than nothing.
"I gave you five minutes" Stephen said "Three of them are left. If he has to walk to h£ll and back while his leg is burning, then I really don't give a damn. Maybe that will teach you maggots not to do such foolish tings" he said afterwords with a little smirk on his face. To be honest, Stephen was actually hoping that the wound would get infected so that he could order his men to amputate it. Of course he could order them to do it right now, but that would just make the group more defiant. If he waited until it got infected they would probably view it as an act of mercy more than brutal unnecessary violence. The line between keeping them in place and facing a riot was narrow, and sure as h£ll hard to stay on. "Three minutes" he repeated before he took a deep swig of a canteen, making sure to spill some of the water just to further raise their thirst.
"I thank you for the tip" Venos said with his weird almost childish voice. "I take it from your wiseful behavior that you are some sort of expert" he continued with a mocking tone. "You tried to run out in the desert. I say you are already crazy" he said with a little laugh before he walked back to his camel and climbed up again. We leave in five minutes he said to his men and nodded to Stephen to seek conformation for the time of departure. Stephen nodded back, five minutes would be good. He got time to calm down, and the prisoners got time to help their worthless friend.
Stephen closed his eyes, trying to focus his rage. So for now he would just let the more experienced mercenary handle the situation. "I thank you" Venos replied to Ciemar's compliment. The mercenary didn't think much about any type of punishment, walking through the desert without water would be bad enough even without a bleeding wound in your leg. "I am afraid I will have to ask you to return it." he said as he jumped down from the desert and walked over to Ciemar. Venos didn't show any sign of fear for an attack. He just reached out with his hand and waited patiently for Ciemar to place the knife in his hand.
"He has no value to me" Stephen answered the queens request. "If you feel like saving him,do it yourself" he said to her, finally gaining his self control back. She had her old robes to use as bandages, but Stephen had no plans to waist anything on this nobody.
"Of course I've thought of it!" Stephen started, he was about to follow up with something smart and witty when Ciemar made a run for it. For some reason, none of the mercenaries seemed to lift a finger to stop him. That made Stephen panic for a short second before he shouted to the leader of his men "Venos! Stop that f@$€r!" he screamed with rage in his voice, but the mercenary hardly shrugged, letting the escaping prisoner run another 5 meters before he moved one of his hands at the speed of light (totally as fast as that....) and threw one of his bigger throwing knives after the Ciemar. He aimed at his leg, but he was still on his camel so a movement in the animal could have disturbed his aim.
((if it hits, Ciemar is going to get a flesh wound in his leg, If not it will stick in the sand right nest to his foot. Your choice Followerer :P))
((easy... "we kill the batman!" Wait... wrong plan, my bad))
This was good, it seemed like they were starting to learn their place, maybe they would think twice about their idiotic questions now. Humiliation always seemed to work, especially on people who are used to a higher standard of living. If the princess thought everything bad was over now, Stephen couldn't wait to see her face tonight. "The plan? Why do you keep on asking questions!? I'll be fear, that isn't the stupidest question you idiots have managed to come up with so far." After seeing their miserable faces he was in a good mood, so Stephen decided to answer her question. "We are going to go on a little walk" he said. The cryptic answer wasn't really that hard to understand when you saw the evil look on his face. The feeling of power was defiantly something Stephen enjoyed. For a short while he was actually in a so good mood that he considered giving them water.((the flirty seduction thingy?))
[[Timeskip to the morning! You have spent a terrible night in the holes and the sun have cooked the back of your heads for a few hours before Stephen arrives to pick you up]]
Things weren't really going as planned, a matter of fact that had ruined Stephens night. He hadn't thought much of the extra hostages on the ship, but now as they had reached their destination he started to realize how much of a problem they could be. The ransom he could expect for the rangers could probably be counted on one hand. It was more likely that the ranger corps would try to rescue their men (and women) instead of paying for them. The last guy, Tyler, was probably a nobody and Stephen wasn't sure if he was worth keeping alive. But the remaining prisoners would probably be much harder to handle if he let anyone of them die. Damn this was a mess.
The room Stephen had spent the night in had every window cowered by heavy curtains so he didn't notice the new day until there was three solid knocks on the wooden door. "Enter!" He shouted and sat up in the bed as the same guy that had been standing behind the princess yesterday walked into the room. "Mornin'" the man said with a surprisingly playful voice that didn't suit his scared face at all. Stephen used a few moments to get out of the bed and pulled on some light but still elegant clothes before he answered, "I suppose everything is ready for the trip? Your men are prepared aren't they Venos?" A small chuckle left the man. "Of course my lord, we are just waiting for you so we can go and get the prisoners" the man who went by the name Venos replied. "I'll be waiting outside" he said as he left the room again. Stephen sighed before he spent another few moments making sure everything about his clothing fitted the way it was supposed to before he followed the leader of his men outside.
Trawling by camel was much faster than walking, so it didn't take Stephen and his small army of 30 men more than 20 minutes to get to the holes. He couldn't help but smile a little at the misery his prisoners was in, it amused him to see their sunburned faces, some more damaged than others. "Hope you've had a pleasant night. I can assure you that the day will be much better nonetheless how the evening have been." A few of the men had already jumped off their camels and started to dig out the prisoners as Stephen was talking. Venos on the other hand remained in his saddle and observed the entire processes with two throwing knives in his hands, more at the ready in leather sheets on his trench coat.
When the prisoners was free Venos took some time to look, well more like stared, at the princess for a while before he said anything. "Those robes won't do for walking." he said and nodded towards the dress. Grabbing two pieces of clothing from a saddle bag and throwing it to her he ordered her to change. The clothes was just a simple pair of loose fitting pants and a shirt in a dirty/white-ish color.
((hope this will do for now))
(you guys wont more qualitytime in the sand, or should we do the timeskip?))
(oh, and RtY, to be honest I didn't find it Juliet was so kind to send me a message when it was up :D))
