Maybe you are interested in my work. I created a large custom terrain world, where is much to explore and some nice placed to build up, even though it might be a bit too large for single player:
It took a few weeks to get that hole in the ocean.
Basicly, what i did was, fill it up with wood (all 15 layers) and burned it, then made a small island in that hole, there's a big cave system with my house in it underneath. all hand made.
Did you use wood or planks? I also like the glowstone on the trees. Very nice touch!
You can rebuild the villages. The only thing that matters if you want to keep the villagers around is the number of doors and placement of doors. You need about ten doors for every three villagers you want in a village. The doors must have more sunlight on one side of the door than the other side in a line 5 blocks long.
I recommend finding a village, and finding a flat patch of grass and with a small hill or two and build there. That's how I made my giant home. Good luck.
I find villages so ugly though. If you rebuild them will the villagers still use the buildings?
Well, you're going to have to adapt with what you get.
Thanks for the advice. It would be a lot of work to do all of that clearing/terraforming/planting but I'd be up to the task.
What I would really like is to have a seed with a small plains biome in a roughly circular shape surrounded with extreme hills on one side and forest sprawling out on the other side and maybe have an ocean biome with a little inlet between the forest and extreme hills.
I haven't played minecraft seriously in quite some time. I bought it the night before beta came out and played a ton for about a year and then that tapered off after the official release. I want to get back into the game but every world I generate just seems very "blah" and I can never find a good place to build.
Here are my issues:
- Jungles are way to crowded and hilly.
- Extreme hills are just ridiculous and don't have enough trees.
- Forests are too crowded.
- Deserts are boring and ugly.
- Plains are pretty boring unless they're surrounded by mountains.
- Swamps are ugly.
I'm not sure if it's the terrain generator or just me. Does anyone have any advice or some good seeds I should check out? I'll be playing on single player survival btw.
I'm currently making an adventure map which involves puzzles, mazes, parkour and fighting enemies. What should be the reward for the player at the end of the map? Diamonds? A funky light show? A rollercoaster to ride on?
Wow, so much positive feedback already. The only way I can remove gravel from the design at the moment would force the floor to be a half block higher on one side of the fence which is also kind of ugly.
Since a lot of people are asking I'll make a tutorial sometime this week and post it in this thread. :cool.gif:
Here is a gate that I made recently after I watched a few other videos. I wasn't happy with the gates posted yet so I decided to design my own based on the various ones I've seen, combining the good attributes of each while removing the bad attributes as I could. Let me know what you think and/or how I could improve on this design. :smile.gif:

That looks amazing. Is the underground completely normal with all of the ores and such that you need to play in survival?

I always have trouble creating terrain that looks natural.
I'll check it out. Do you have a link?

Wow, that looks awesome. Was it a lot of work making the water do that?
I've been thinking about building in an ocean biome or possibly a snow biome. It would be nice to have plenty of snowman sentries
What do all of you think about building on a frozen lake in a snow biome?

What do you mean by that last sentence?
