Hmm thats wierd. For some reason it sounds like creative mode... if you have cheats mode on, try /gamemode s or /gamemode c... not sure if that might help.
Could it be a chunk loading error? Or some kind of graphic error? I have no idea but i am on a mac too so i might be able to help. Have you tried fn+f3+a all at the same time?
Unfortunately, I lied, my VANILLA minecraft will obviously still load HD textures, goddammit. I have no idea why! Those mac+minecraft tech gurus out there, i need help! It's causing OpenGL errors to pop up all over the place . Please help as soon as possible and post any crazy ideas!
AHA! I have done some research on OpenGL crashes and problems and i may have found the solution. Advanced OpenGL. How i know this is because what it does is only render things visible by the player, so if i look at the sky, nothing would be rendered. I have also found that this is a reported bug that may not have beed fixed because many other people on macs have experienced crashes with Advanced OpenGL turned ON.
So i guess i have to play minecraft without Advanced OpenGL.
And one thing i forgot to mention is my processor - Intel Core 2 Duo.
More Notes:
Minecraft can actually now run with optifine but upon loading a world, intense lag spikes start up and i can only run the game smoothly by staring at the sky.
I am using the default texturepack/resource pack.
Today i found out that my minecraft can run HD textures. I don't know why and i have tested 32x and 64x texturepacks. They all work for some reason and i'm quite sure that i have not modded the 1.6.2.jar at all. i've deleted and re-installed the minecraft folder 7 times and nothing has changed! I have used magic launcher and the technic launcher before. Not sure if that information helps. My graphics driver is up to date (according to software update). I have java version 1.6.0_51 64-Bit (Apple's latest Version) and on the developer's console, the error -
[CLIENT] [SEVERE] ########## GL ERROR ##########
[CLIENT] [SEVERE] @ Post startup
[CLIENT] [SEVERE] 1281: Invalid value
[CLIENT] [SEVERE] ########## GL ERROR ##########
[CLIENT] [SEVERE] @ Pre render
[CLIENT] [SEVERE] 1281: Invalid value
appears before minecraft starts.
the error -
[CLIENT] [SEVERE] ########## GL ERROR ##########
[CLIENT] [SEVERE] @ Post render
[CLIENT] [SEVERE] 1281: Invalid value
appears constantly during gameplay.
I have heard of and seen this error in many places and i'm guessing it's a problem when minecraft tries to render textures larger than it usually can render and it is probably caused by that invisible modification allowing it to load HD textures. This did not happen back when i installed optifine on minecraft 1.2.5.
Additional Details:
This error may be preventing me from installing Optifine.
I am on a mac (late 2008 macbook unibody non pro) running Mountain Lion - 10.8.4
Graphics Card - NVidia GeForce 9400M 256mb
RAM: 4GB
I have no problems running mountain lion by the way.
if anyone is interested i've currently got my own custom version of the pack that is not edited too much and is updated to support minecraft 1.6 i can upload it if anyone wants it
EDIT: I forgot that i needed the author's permission before i can upload it. So that is a no.
