It's not the fault of the soldiers, people who sign up to protect their country from harm.

It's the fault of the people who send those men on missions that do not protect their country from harm.

Calling atheism a religion, or arguing that it isn't is kind of the same thing as squabbling about black being a color or the absence of light, or debating weather or not a thumb is a finger. It's really kind of pointless, and while, by definition, atheism is the lack of religion, many people call it a religion for lack of a better term.

posted a message on Evolution & Creationism
Evolution is not a belief, it's a scientifically proven fact. People who claim that they don't "Believe" in evolution are saying that they do not accept a proven fact.

I'm sure someone has said this already, but I wanted to state my thoughts on the matter.

Depends, the majority of people in my experience say that they "don't follow any religion" as opposed to saying their atheist.
I mentioned earlier in this thread that I believe to label you're self as an atheist to be rather pointlesss. It's only in countries where atheism is a minority that people feel the need to call themselves atheist. Over here nobody gives enough thought into it to bother to give it a label. I spend way too much time thinking about what I do believe in, to be concerned about what I don't believe in.

I call myself an atheist for one reason
    Person: What religion are you?
    Me: I'm an atheist.
    Person: Oh. Cool.

    Person: What religion are you
    Me: I don't follow a religion
Person: So you don't believe in any sort of god?

Then I have to explain my beliefs, in which case people tend to stare at my like my fly is down or something.

I would like to make a quick comment about Richard Dawkins and other outspoken atheists such as the late Christopher Hitchens and Sam Harris. I think that these type of people are important in making atheists an accecpted part of society. Here in the UK, atheism is pretty much accepted, but in the USA, it is widely UNaccepted. So unaccepted in fact that when former president George Bush Senior was asked 'Surely you recognize the equal citizenship and patriotism of Americans who are atheists?', he answered 'No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God.'. This is why we need people to speak out for atheism. It's not all about just believing, or lacking a belief, in god, but also being accepted in society as non-believers.

If it weren't for Dawkins on YouTube, I'd still be hiding my Atheism. He's truly a hero to many people.

posted a message on My Opinion on Bullying
Bullying is really only a bad thing for people who allow it to be, but almost everyone will be made fun of in thier life, even adults do it.

However, those that deal with it properly have less of an issue. Bullying campaigns need to stop being "Bullying is wrong and mean" for two reasons. One, people don't think that's cool, and two, it's targeting bullies and not helping victims.

If the campaigns were more of a "Stand up for yourself and have some confidence" campaign it would work so much better.
