posted a message on Friend's gaming laptop is getting terrible performance; Need help
Using the dxdiag in the search bar I found that he had the i3 U 330 1.2 GHZ. When clicking on the display tab it shows the Intel HD Graphics card. I know that this is the built in card, so how to I get to the Nvidia card and activate it?

posted a message on Friend's gaming laptop is getting terrible performance; Need help
My friend has an Alienware m11x, and while I know "gaming laptops" are terrible compared to desktops, this computer should easily be able to play Minecraft. He's had it for about a year, so I don't know how quickly the parts might have gone bad. He gets anywhere from 3 to 16 fps in both single player and multiplayer, and changing the settings didn't help. In fact, the only way we were able to actually see the fps count without the red bars covering it up was by changing everything to the lowest settings. Any tips?

Does anyone know some good Warband texture pack mods or graphics enhancers? I love the game, but I have a hard time getting over some of the graphics.

Seeing as how there are 168 hours in a week and it has only been five days, I highly doubt that you have spent 100 hours on. That would mean that even if you got the game at midnight last wednesday, you would have only a few hours for doing anything but minecraft.

posted a message on Why I'm never updating minecraft again.
While I don't agree with everything that he said, this guy does have a point. I remember when I first saw Minecraft. It was back in November 2010 at my friend's house. He had heard of the game from a different friend and bought it immediately. I remember watching him build a house and hide from a skeleton. I got the game about two weeks later, and I was hooked. The game had a different feeling to it than any other game that I have ever played. Unfortunately, I played so much and the survival aspect wore off quickly. For the last year and a few months now I have been checking in periodically to see new updates and things like that, and quite honestly, I'm not exactly happy. Adding an ending, enchanting, villages, and so on basically ruined the game IMO. I mean, I'm not saying that they are bad. This is Mojang's game, they can do whatever they want. But I feel like these things are drawing away from the core principles of the game. I mean, I remeber back when finding diamonds and a dungeon was a big deal. Now, people don't care, they just want to go slay an enderdragon with their ultra overpowered sword that they made by using an XP farm. People can play the way they want, but my opinion still stands.

Have you considered using Worldpainter? I find it to be much quicker than voxelsniper.

posted a message on Halo 3 is the greatest game ever
Jeeze, I remember back during Christmas of 2009. My friend got Halo 3, an Xbox 360 Elite, and four controllers. He, his brother, a friend of mine, and I played that game for about 10 hours a day for the next week and a half before school started again. I still remember how I would get up in the morning, call him up on my cellphone, and tell him that I was heading over there. If his brother wasn't up yet, we would just screw around in multiplayer unitl his brother got up and my other friend arrived. We played infection so much. That is by far the best experience with gaming I have ever had. I kid you not, I'm tearing up as I write this. It was so much fun and it brought us so much enjoyment. It brought us together and while there were fits of rage occasionaly, we always came back. That was, of course, until Reach came out and that screwed everything up. Reach is not a bad game, but it just doesn't feel like Halo. I wish we could play it again...

posted a message on Is Assassins Creed turning into Call of Duty?
Personally I loved the first Assassins Creed. However, I did not like the second. They changed too much in the game and it didn't feel anything like the first one. Now I feel like it's becoming way too unrealistic, with all these fancy weapons and abilities you have (like changing who your person is to blend into a crowd, instead of blending in with people who already look like you.

It just means you can't swap out motherboards without reinstalling.

You will get support from Microsoft regardless of whether it's an OEM or the full version, the only difference is that the OEM version is tied to the motherboard.

That's the other thing I heard: is that OEM will only work with the first computer it was installed on. This isn't exactly true, because we got my Gateway Vista reinstall disk to install Vista on my new computer. The only thing I think would have helped was the fact that I was using the same HDD, even though I wiped it.

Okay I haven't read every post except the first few: I AM NOT TRYING TO PIRATE. I wanted to know if you already have a code, if there is a place where you legally download it.
EDIT: Okay, now I've read all the posts. I wanted to get the OEM edition originally, but my dad said that only people who build computers to resell them are allowed to buy and use OEM copies. On top of that I heard that OEM editions don't get support through Microsoft, but by the people who built your computer. I already have Vista 32 bit, so could I just get an upgrade version to go to Windows 7 64 bit?

posted a message on Need help getting Windows 7
I just built a new budget gaming computer, and since Windows 7 is over $100, it wasn't really in my budget so I was ready to use my old Vista copy until I saved enough up to get 7. My dad was on a business trip this past week and talked to some of the coworkers he worked with and they said that most of them use a website called Onlinekey.org. He went their and ordered a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate and Office 2010 for $45. They sent him the product key for each and said that the backup disk for Windows 7 would be shipped to us. The download link that they sent us does not work, and it seems like their website doesn't work now either. Could someone tell me if this website was a scam? The thing is he had read reviews of the site dating back to 2009 saying that people were happy with the site and now the site doesn't work, the day he gets home. I want to know if there's a place where I could download Windows 7 to see if the code is even valid. Please help
