Minecraft is supposed to be kid-friendly, I'm pretty sure skinning animals wouldn't be pleasant for children to watch.

If you're referring to the terrain, it isn't nostalgia (though it could be part of what you feel). Everything is a lot more predictable and repetitive now, which significantly cuts down on the possibilities the world could generate and made the worlds feel a lot more bland. (Sure, it still technically has a nigh-infinite amount of possibilities, but the old generator actually felt like it had an infinite amount of possibilities).

I know what you mean. I was just referring to the whole feel of Minecraft in general. For me, it's actually boring now. :c

Mining with a friend in Tekkit. We were in an abandoned mine shaft connected to a ravine and huge cave system. My friend gave me the valuables (Diamonds, Uranium, Emeralds, etc.) to hold while he fought the spiders in the cave spider spawner. Meanwhile I went and started bridging across a lava lake to get some more diamonds.

Suddenly, a wild lag spike has appeared!

The block I was stepping on disappeared, and I fell into lava. I haven't touched Tekkit since.

Just kidding. I still play Tekkit. But I did rage. ._.

I started in 1.6.6, a week or two before 1.7, I believe. My friend was over at my house and he introduced me to Minecraft. He started showing me how to do everything, and then he told me huge scary monsters would come out an night. By the time it was mid-day, I was freaking out and told him to make a house or something. We made a tiny dirt hut and dug straight down for about 5 blocks and made an underground home. Every time I saw a mob, I screamed. xD We had a library, a tree farm, a fishing pond, a farm, and a mine.

I still have the world. I can't really play it though because of nostalgia overload. I still have a back-up of my 1.7.3 .jar aswell. Thank goodness. ^-^

I think a lot of whiners about recent updates are just people full of nostalgia. Yes, it was simpler in Alpha and Beta, but that doesn't always make it better. Let's say, they stopped developing Minecraft at 1.5 Beta. Sure, it'd be fun for a while, but doesn't the same old thing get boring? Minecraft had to develop. Things changed. Even I have a huge sense of nostalgia for my first time playing Minecraft. But we can't live in the past, guys. No matter what you say or do, Mojang isn't going to revert Minecraft back to 1.7.3 (example) just because of your nostalgia.

But on a lighter note, I miss the old terrain. I miss the old spammy-bow system. That was fun, pelting people with arrows. But back to nostalgia, I miss how in the first few months of Minecraft, everything was a huge world. It was full of millions of possibilities. Now it just seems, I dunno. Bland, I guess. I blame nostalgia. :/

That is perfectly normal, the texture pack's fire texture in terrain.png is just that. Animated fire is a separate file. It's like that with default textures, too. Solution, always have animated fire, it's not really that big of a performance hit if at all.

    Thank you so much. ^^

I'm speechless. This is absolutely incredibly fantastically amazing. This is absolutely perfect. I just have one request. If you ever have spare time, could you please make an alternate texture for soul sand? It's really good as it is, but for me, bones don't really fit with the enchanted theme. Maybe it's just me. I don't have anything to suggest, maybe just dark sand? I don't know. Thank you for reading this anyway. x3

Hi, I installed Optifine Ultra today, and I'm currently using a 32x texture pack. The problem is, the fire texture is messed up like it would be when you haven't patched your .jar for HD textures. Here's an image.

The weird part is, when I turn Fire Animation on, the fire becomes normal again. Is this normal? Or is it a bug in Optifine? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    posted a message on [1.8.7 / 1.7.10 and earlier][update 4/23] MCPatcher HD fix 5.0.3
    Quote from Weioo

Could someone please explain to me exactly what MCPatcher is? The OP doesn't explain very well TBH. From what I understand, it is a compilation of a fews mods and a GUI that allows installing them a bit easier. It seems there used to be issues switching texture packs back in the day and this was a fix, but this is no longer the case.

How does this compare/relate to MagicLauncher?

Is this simply a modloader/Forge replacement or does it work with Forge?

So what's all the buzz about? I see this is a popular subject and I'm wondering if it could cut out some workf or me or help me out. I'd appreciate some elaboration on this! :)

MCPatcher is a "patch" basically for high-definition texture packs (HD). The default texture pack is 16x, and there are many texture packs that have higher resolutions such as 32x, 64x, 128x, etc. Since the default is 16x, higher resolution texture packs don't work properly and glitches happen. (i.e portal blocks messing up, fire glitching) MCPatcher fixes those glitches so that HD texture packs work properly. However, the higher resolution texture pack you use, the lower your FPS is going to get.

Thanks...Basically what I wanted to know. I also need to know if this is compatible with the Forge, Player/RenderPlayer/GUI API's, QuinOptions, Optifine, modloader mods, etc? Basically, should I just being using MC Patcher to install everything from Forge to Optifine, to the HD Textures enabler?

This would really clarify things for me. Thanks a bunch!

I'm pretty sure it works with Forge and Modloader, but I'm not sure about the other ones. However it does not work with Optifine. Optifine is basically the same thing as MCPatcher, but with added options to increase game performance and FPS. Optifine is missing a few features of MCPatcher however. (I'm not sure what they are.)

I personally have never used MCPatcher to install mods, I install them manually. It's up to you, but I don't know whether it works with all mods. Just remember to never install Optifine and MCPatcher together, because they are not compatible and will give you a black screen. Also if you've decided to use Optifine instead of MCPatcher, install all your mods then install Optifine last. Otherwise it probably won't work.

There is already an official PE texture pack on the sphax website. I see no point in making your own.

I used to think I was a good builder. Then I saw this. The beauty is just stunning. It makes me want to cry ;_; (In a good way xD) These are the first buildings that I've seen that actually look amazing with the default texture pack. Keep up the good work! :D

Are you sure the texture pack you're using supports CTM? Not all texture packs have support for CTM.

This is actually really nice! But one tip, the skin is a bit too yellow. I think it needs more orange in it. :)
