I remembered seeing something with -Xmx on the minecraft.net download page, so I went there. I found it at the part where it tells how to run minecraft under linux/other, then copy/pasted it into notepad with some changes:
and saved it as Minecraft.bat in the same folder that I have Minecraft.exe. Then I ran Minecraft.bat and it worked just how it's supposed to with the .cmd the OP was talking about, but this way, you can also log in and connect to SMP servers correctly. I have only done this on a Windows XP 32x and cannot test it on other OS's.
Would anyone be kind enough as to inform me how to use the custom launcher discussed by the OP and also be able to log in to join multiplayer servers. From what I've read in this thread that requires a .bat (instead of or as well as the .cmd) to work. I understand how to write both, but I don't know what string I need to enter.
Thanks.

Hello everyone,
This mods looks great. I only have one question. I made a CMD file for the custom launcher but it doesn't even ask me for my account username and password.... How can I fix that ? Thanks !
and this.
EDIT: Please disregard this and see the post 2 down from this one.
I don't know if you're aware of this, but if you're trying to gain momentum by jumping into a floor portal, then come out a vertical portal and place another floor portal to fly to a platform, the portal "ball" that you shoot goes too slow. By the time the ball reaches where you want to go through the second floor portal, you're already standing there. Plus, I think you need to somehow make the mod accept placing portals more; such as if you shoot the ball between two blocks, it doesn't place a portal. I don't know how you would do this, but I'm pretty sure it can be done. Thanks for your time.
copy ONLY the class files and the imgz folder into the .jar. DO NOT COPY THE ENTIRE FOLDER i.e. the entrie GlassLight folder, ONLY the .class files, and imgz. and yes, the imgz files will be in the same folder if you use multiple mods i.e. glasslight and transmitter both use imgz, and the files will be in the same folder. this is how it is suposed to work.
if this is still hard to understand, ill just upload the files in a prepackaged folder instead of a bit scrambled as the OP did. (no offense, i love the mod, just trying to help)
This is what I did, but I still can't craft the transmitter or receiver.
EDIT:
I have ModLoader and More IDs installed properly, but when i craft the transmitter or receiver, they don't appear, although glass light works fine. Perhaps there are mods conflicting here?
Mods installed (other than ModLoader and More IDs):
Mo' Creatures 2.5.3
AudioMod 1.2 (for Mo' Creatures)
Optimine 1.2_02v3
MineColony 0.4
mcregion v5 1.2_02 (I'm using the merged dn.class for More IDs and this) Functional Books(removed (got bored of it)) HD Texture Fix (for a 32x texture)(removed (using default texture now))
and these 2 mods (glass light and transmitter)
I've just installed More Block IDs, then glass light and transmitter, (I already had modloader installed for other mods) but when i craft the transmitter or receiver, they don't appear, although glass light works fine. Perhaps there are mods conflicting here?

SirAwesome, if you're waiting for MCP, the update is out. It works for 1.2_02. BTW, this mod gets you some s, s, and, of course, some s to make a few runes :biggrin.gif:

Perhaps you could just do the vanilla mobs, release the mod, then gradually make mo' creatures souls/runes.

I'm not trying to dismiss your mod, it looks great. I was just wondering what the other mod was.
