Purchasing Minecraft:
- What will happen after you pay:
- In a generic purchase, you will recive a conformation email containing the information that you gave mojang. After recieveing this your email should be premium. From here you simply go here download the correct file, start it, login, and play!
- What payment Methods are accepted:
- The currently accepted payment methods are: Visa, Mastercard, Visa Electron, American Express, Diners club international, UCB, moneybookers, and paypal. More payment methods may be added in the future.
- How long will it take to receive an email confirmation:
- The email usually comes within 5 minutes if the purchase went through without any issues. Some payment methods like bank transfer can take up to 5 days to process. If you didn't get an email confirmation please use the Payment/Account problems link on the right side and fill in all the information you got in your receipt.
- You have paid for a premium account and have not been upgraded yet:
- With most purchases you are upgraded immediately. For some purchases though it can take three to five business days for the bank transfer to conclude. More information can be found here. Only if you can not find a solution to your problem should you fill out the form linked on that page.
- How do I purchase a gift code:
- To purchase a gift code go here. Then click on the purchase gift code area. You need to be logged in to purchase a gift code.
- Why can I not purchase Minecraft in Illinois:
- First off, this is not a problem with Mojang. For some reason Moneybookers has lost their license in Illinois. it says that it is coming soon, but their is no specific time frame for when it will be acquired.
- If you are not buying a gift code, then try to use paypal. If you are going for a gift code, then you are out of luck. You could however try to have a friend out of state buy it for you, and you could reimburse them.
Payment Troubleshooting:
- I have paid but have not received a confirmation email:
- First, make sure that you are using the correct email address. Be sure to check the spam filter also as it can sometimes be sent there. For more information go here.
- I have been charged twice:
- Sometimes this is an error in the sytem, and other times it is a mistake by the buyer (such as double clicking). For more information go here. Only if you can not find a solution to your problem should you fill out the form linked on that page.
- I paid for a gift code but I have not received it:
-First, you should make sure that the purchase went through by checking your email with the confirmation email. In this confirmation email, you will find the gift code. If you have not recieved any email, then check your minecraft.net profile page (it will be located on this page). If no gift code has been received at all, then go here. If no solution is found, then fill out the form linked on that page.
- What does a transaction ID look like and what is it used for:
-A transaction ID is sed to verify account ownership in the event that something happens to your account that you yourself cannot fix. Examples:
Mojang UUID - example: 123a456789012b3c4d5e678901f23gh4
If you have only this number and do not have a transaction ID, your purchase was most likely unsuccessful, and you can try your payment again. This ID does not indicate that you have made a purchase, but is useful for looking up an account if we cannot do so otherwise.
Moneybookers transaction ID - example: 123456789
Paypal transaction ID - example: 1AB23456C7890123D
Paypal receipt number - example: 1234-5678-9012-3456
While most Paypal users receive a transaction ID, in certain circumstances a customer may receive a receipt number, which is four sets of numbers.
Mojang gift code - example: a1b2-c3d4-e5f6
All games using the Mojang accounts system can have gift codes, which can be identified by three sets of alternating letters and numbers.
- I cannot find my transaction ID in my email:
-You can get this transaction ID back. If you paid with Paypal, then you can log into your Paypal account, and view the ID in your transaction history. If you paid by credit card, then your payment was processed by moneybookers. You need to got to http://www.moneybooker.com/ and click contact to request your transaction ID. For more information, go here.
Site Connection Issues (only if you cannot connect to minecraft.net):
-If you are having issues connecting to minecraft.net through the launcher, then this is a client issue and will not be answered here. Some helpful information on this can be found here:
-Accessing the hosts file:
- If you are receiving an error message, when trying to connect to minecraft.net, similar to "Oops! This link appears to be broken.", or any other message saying that it does not exist, then something is blocking your access to minecraft.net. Often times it is your antivirus.
- The first thing that you want to do is stop your antivirus. Some antiviruses, for whatever reason, like to block minecraft.net. If that does not work, then you will probably need to edit the hosts file. Directions on how to do that can be found below.
1. First you need to navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
2. Now we will need to check to make sure that you have the ability to edit the hosts file. Right click on the hosts file and select properties. If the read only option is ticked, un-tick it. If it is not, then leave that option alone. Now exit out of the properties window.
3. Now open the program with notepad or an equivalent program.
4. Delete any lines in the hosts file that have minecraft.net or s3.amazonaws.com on it:examples:127.0.0.1 s3.amazonaws.com207.171.187.117 s3.amazonaws.com127.0.0.1 www.minecraft.net50.16.203.217 www.minecraft.net
5. Save and exit the hosts file.
6. Try accessing the site again.

Account troubleshooting:
- What if I do not remember my username:
- Go to http://www.minecraft.net/retrievename to request an email with your username.
- Can I change my username:
- There are no current plans to allow changes in usernames. Choose your name carefully.
- I forgot my password:
- If your account has not been migrated then go to http://www.minecraft.net/resetpassword to request a password reset email. If your account has been migrated, then go to https://account.moja...ssword/request. Then follow the instructions provided. I would suggest migrating your account if you have not already.
- My email account has changed:
- You can change your email here. If you have migrated your account, you will probably end up having to contact Mojang's support. Please check out the article found here. If there is no solution on that page, then you will need to contact them using the form linked on that page.
- I was premium, now I'm not!:
- Do not worry, Mojang will get this sorted out. If you purchased minecraft from minecraft.net or account.mojang.com then you recieved a transaction id, this will be needed in order for this to be fixed. If you purchased Minecraft from somewhere else, then you will not be able to recover it unless you have the transaction id. More information can be found here.
- How to fix the login issue with migrated accounts:
- Go to the mojang account site and use the reset password option. From here go to your email and find the email that Mojang has sent you. Use the reset password link found in the email. Login and enjoy once again.
- If this does not fix your issue, then you will have to contact Mojang. Please look at this article:

- You cannot register two accounts under the same email address. You can only have one account per email address.
- Some people have multiple accounts per email because they made these accounts before Mojang patched it and limited the number of accounts per email to 1.
- Can i purchase minecraft on ebay or any other website than minecraft.net or account.mojang.com?
- No, any account that is not directly purchased from mojang will recieve no support in the event of any account problems. This is because you will not have the transaction id.

When filling out the form, make sure that there is no simple solution that does not require the help of a customer support agent before sending this form. Do not send in multiple forms, this will only slow down the process. This way they recieve less emails to respond to, and can help people more efficently.

1)Copy the following:
notepad %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
2)click Start
3)in the "Run" field (search programs and files field) paste the code from step one and hit enter.
4) scroll down to the bottom and delete where it says "www.minecraft.net" and ONLY that.
5)Enjoy the game! -

1) Registered a new account (tried it with an existing account, same problem. Just him tho, I can login fine)
