My hard drive is completely functional. You can't judge people.

Anyone who doesn't see or understand the value in recreational pursuits is a naive fool. Attempting to be productive every waking hour will only result in decreasing your actual productivity and burning you out.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't enjoy life. In fact you should, but in a productive manor.

Do you think Einstein wasted his time? He spent days and hours studying using his time productively. Are you calling him a fool?

Why is this in the Politics, News, Philosophy, etc. section? Either way, Yourself pretty much summed it up. And I'm not talking in shitty grammar about the OP, I mean Yourself, like the guy with the afro avatar.

Also, from what I've heard, redstone in Minecraft is very similar to real-life wiring. The mechanics are the same anyways. I'd imagine that could actually be a good place to start learning some entry-level engineering or whatever category that falls under.

Not to mention, I've actually become interested in the Java language because of Minecraft. If I were to become a programmer in the future, I'd say Minecraft would be a significant part of my life, then.

Perhaps Redstone is similar to real life writting, but you'll develop your writing skills even more if you read good books and write.
You don't gain much experience from using programs, you gain programming experience as you make programs. The most influential programmars like Bill Gates and Bjarne Stroustrup were not game addicts. I used to think that gaming does help in life, just like you. I noticed how useless it is months ago.

You can have recreational pursuits in a more useful manor, like playing sports, it helps your health.

Minecraft won't get us anywhere. I used to be addicted to games last year. We can all be better than we actually are right now. The imaginary world that many Minecrafters live in has no value in their lives.

    1) Make sure you typed your IP:port correcly.
    2) If you used a dynamic IP wait til it updates.
    3) Make sure your not using your internal IP. do ipconfig in CMD and get the IPv6.
    4) Make sure the server is on.

    Quote from zane20062

Hi i would like an unbiased opinion on wether or not it is safe to start a minecraft server. i am using windows an d planning on using hamachi. i would preferebly like an answer from someone who knows what they are talking about.... for ages my parents have been paranoid about someone hacking our pc using our ip. i want to know is this possible and what are the chances. i willl only be letting my trustworthy friend or two know the server ip. so please give honest answers and make it comprehendable please ( im not a pc nerd ) :tongue.gif: i have only just joined the forums but have been playing mc for like 2 or 3 years so please dont treat me like a noob.

Yes people can hack your PC using your IP but Hamachi doesn't use your real real IP. Why won't you go with a VPS or Minecraft host? It's not likely if someone hacks your PC though through a MC server. It's not like everyone who goes on knows enough programming.

I would of applied but your way of getting donations (Admin for 10$) is just a shame I suggest changing it as it can be used against you :sad.gif:

What's wrong with admin for $10? It's cheap compared to most servers.

    Intoduction:

    1) Why do you want co-owner and what are your plans for the server? I would like to be co-owner because I can't afford or have a server on my pc at this time. I also would like a stable server to play/moderate on!
    2) Tell me about yourself (Longer the better be coherent): I am certainly willing to earn my rank. Making me play a couple months is just fine with me! I am a 16 year old high school student that enjoys minecraft and being friendly with people. I also have an xbox with live. Would love to team up with you and play some! I am responsible and willing to show you that!

    Requirements:

    1) Decent with computers (Do you recognize these words? RAM, CPU, HDD, SSD, SSH, FTP, MySQL, SQL) Well of course!
    2) Friendly? Yes sir!
    3) Follows server rules? Why wouldn't I? Yes I do!
    4) Knows enough about plugins? Yes!
    4) Can advertise the server effectively? Of course in my sig. Also having frequent server events and mentioning them on the forum thread keeps in bumped up but for a good reason and not just /bump!

Other good characteristics (Not required but the person with the highest ability will likely be chosen.):

    1) Any programming language(s)? (Python, Java, C++, VB, Pearl, etc) No sorry.
    2) Knows enough CSS and HTML? Nope again!
    3) Can work with SSH? Hey guess what NO!
    4) Other good characteristics? (More the better) Pretty good at World Edit. Pick things up fast. Friendly.
    5) Video editing skills? (I barely work with videos. This would be a tremendous help.) This I am ok at!

    Let me know your thoughts!

    Approved! I'll contact you shortly.
