an impenetrable vault that you can access is impossible. I would suggest this for at least one layer of protection though.

Have a minecart track on the inside, with no exit. Part of the combination is putting the track to get in. The problem with this is bruteforcing, and being watched, so other layers of security would be necessary. I think this would be best as an inner layer, so you could have some assurance that you aren't being watched.
I wonder if its possible to get in without destroying something then immidiately placing a block/torch
I broke the first door, then all the pressure plates, then the bottom dispenser - and put dirt where it was for the next step. I then removed the arrows from the upper dispenser and blocked off the left and right passages with dirt, as well as behind me. I put the bucket of water down in front of the dispensers and then activated the tnt on the floor nearest the door. The water keeps it from blowing up any squares, and you can then pickup the water and gain access to the redstone wiring.
I've searched through here and tried to find problems similar to mine and have been unable to find a solution.
Ever since 1.0_01 or so minecraft will play perfectly for about 15 minutes, and then becomes unplayable with lag. While there is a SLIGHT spike in cpu usage, that doesn't seem to be the problem (it's around 35-40% when minecraft starts to lag). I have tried setting java to use only 1 core instead of all four, but that doesn't fix the problem, neither did setting the priority to high.
I have 8 GB of ram and a AMD Athlon II X4 620 Processor (2.60GHz quad core).
I just don't understand what's going on here, there is no reason my computer shouldn't be able to run minecraft effectively.
Note: It occurs whether I play in my browser or from the minecraft.exe

I had the same exact problem, it happens on the web client too.
I even reinstalled java, didn't help at all.
Thanks for trying though.

The red bar just keeps rising and rising.
Any ideas?

This is exactly what I don't want.
I love the idea of being able to map out the world yourself though.
