well I don't see anything better with 1.7.3 terrain the today's. I actually like today's terrain better! More variation IMO. In 1.7.3 all I see is dull trees, random hills, tiny "oceans" and a sad excuse for a dessert.
In today's terrain, I see vast oceans, towering mountains, tropical jungles, vast forests, wide prairies, frozen wastelands, forested hills, Jungle islands, ect...

yea... so much for variation huh?

The land forms in 1.7.3 aren't even that good. I can and have found all of it in today's terrain.

Today's terrain generation has more variation? I'm sorry but what?

The current gravel texture hardly looks like gravel in real life at all.

How can the terrain get boring?
    There are caverns(huge ones)
The beaches look natural without gravel as gravel would just make it look a bit ugly(My opinion)
And tell me do you spend countless hours just looking at a few blocky grass hills?
    Or do you build,mine etc.

Are you kidding me? The beaches in the current version of Minecraft does not look natural at all. Beaches in real life are not this steep.

I admit the new terrain makes Minecraft more realistic, but that's not what the game is about...

The real world has biomes that don't always look the same.

posted a message on Waterworld: Evolving Server
    Quote from aegisjester

There are just a few of us left.

It has been months since the floods began, and only now have we found a spot of dry land. Our food stores have run out, but we still have hope.

Nearly everyone is gone, the world we knew is below the sea...

This is a new survival server, and as the title suggests it will evolve over time. Take your place among the other survivors who have washed up on the last dry land in the world; what was once the peaks of mighty mountains is your only hope to rebuild after the Enderdragon ripped open the dimensional gate and flooded Terra with unceasing torrents.

The map consists of two archipelagos; one based off plains and the other swampland. Only a few scattered trees can be found, as well as several dangerous volcanic islands that are difficult to approach (and barren of obvious resources)

At the start of the server, it is anything goes; PVP is enabled, limited griefing is allowed (you may break someone's house, but you may not torch every tree in the game, for example), and the participants must decide how they want to proceed.

Over time, I have developed a checkpoint system that will determine how the rules and game evolves. For example, if several players work exclusively on vigilantism towards griefing, over time it will be abolished from the server. If PVP starts becoming the central focus, arenas will be built with weapon caches hidden around the world.

There are also hidden treasures from the previous civilization hidden under the earth and below the sea, how the server develops will also determine the frequency and contents of these.

There are absolute rules that will be enforced:

    NO DUPLICATING ITEMS
If you are caught duplicating items, you will be banned forever. I am a professional statistician, I know the average and fastest realistic times to obtain just about every resource in the game. If I so much as suspect that you duplicated a cube of dirt, you will be ejected immediately.

    NO XRAY VISION
This is the same as duping, if there is any indication of this going on by anyone, instaban.

    NO SPAWN KILLING
At least let people wander around a bit. Since wood is so scarce (at least to start), it will take everyone some time before they can get together a crafting table and a wooden sword, let alone iron armor and the ability to take a hit.

PVP and stealing are enabled; will you work together to rebuild civilization or will it be every man for himself struggling to survive?

The server will be open every other day, hopefully for 24 hours at a time (between I need time for rule adjustments, adding easter eggs, and playing other games myself).

It will be set on HARD difficulty, with an age restriction of 16.

You must post your gamertag and age here, along with sending me a friend request (GT: aegisjester) to join

Again with whole must post your age thing? Look, anyone here can lie about their age. This practice is so pointless.

posted a message on When You Purchased Minecraft, What Update Was It At?
I knew about minecraft ever since around August/September of 2010. when I had seen a Youtube video about it. I first tried Minecraft classic and later went on to try Minecraft beta 1.7.3 which was cracked, I later received a Minecraft code from a website when beta 1.8 just came out. So sad I didn't get to experience much of the old days. From beta 1.8 and on, I saw how the terrain was dull and boring compared to Beta 1.7.3 and before.

The large lakes back before beta 1.8 were just fine. There's just too much ocean in the current terrain generation/

I absolutely hate enchantments and potions. Mojang absolutely ruined Minecraft PvP for me. Minecraft combat used to be so simple.
PvP Minecraft used to be more about actual skill rather than how powerful your armor/weapons are or how many potions you have.. Back then, it didn't take that much to gather enough items to be ready to engage in combat. Now it takes having to brew all these potions in your inventory which is an incredibly tedious task. And what was the point of potions anyway. All it really did was the game easier. There are plenty of people who complain mobs are now too easy to deal with these days because of stuff like sprinting and enchantments. All Mojang really did for the Minecraft community was mainly giving us so many unnecessary crap.

What the other two said. B1.7.3 is a very old version of Minecraft. Why still play it?

I can't seem to find any good beta 1.7.3 servers. The only servers that I've found only have 3-10 players. Not very exciting at all.
