posted a message on My server is using 6-8 gigs of ram with only 3 people logged on

Would anyone know what could potentially cause this? I launched the server last week and I’ve been tweaking the hardware and plugins since. I just noticed a huge spike in ram usage about a day or two after upgrading the ram from 8 to 16 gigs, I suspected someone built a lag machine somewhere but according to clearlagg there’s nothing

    Here are the servers specs:

    i5 4670k

16 gigs of ram ddr3 ram (1866 MHz I believe)

    win 7 home edition

    bukkit 1.14.4

    120 gig ssd

    Server plug-ins:

    Grief prevention

    Spartan anti-hack

    nerf phantoms

    simple tpa

    set home

    sleepy

    Buycraft

    nuvotifier

    votingplugin

    And now clearlagg

Clearlagg somewhat helped by about a gig or so but I’m still experiencing high ram usage. I did disable the frequent removal of entities in the configuration file

    *Please read comment below*

Just recently launched a 24/7/365 future proofed, dedicated public Minecraft survival server that will not reset. Plans to upgrade and grow the server are in the works, and we are looking for long term players to help build it into something awesome. The only plugin installed that affects gameplay is Grief Prevention, max accrued Claim Blocks have been boosted to 2,500 with the option of acquiring more through voting or server support. We do not sell or give away items in an attempt to keep the economy as balanced as possible, all bonuses are claim blocks and nothing more.

There are plenty of button-activated melon farms near spawn to get you started, good luck:)

posted a message on A server featuring 4 shuttle rail stations traveling in all 4 directtions

I recently launched a vanilla minecraft server that relies on a complex redstone rail system to transport players instead of teleporting them. It's a bit of a risky idea as rail is much slower than teleporting but im confident that in relying on in game mechanics for transportation will yield a very rewarding gaming experience. The minecart travels up and down the tracks constantly and stops at each station for about 8 seconds, then continues to the next stop. The rail system features railway crossings and gates to prevent players from walking along the tracks, as well as some disco lighting here and there. This is my own unique design that i am yet to see replicated, if you'd like to see for yourself check it out @IP: squeejcraft.com

I am currently laying out the infrastructure and toying with plugins to see which works best. I will be launching in about a month or two and I’m looking for admin help as well as pro builders to help with the layout and to further the infrastructure, Below is a link with some pictures that shows my current progress, if you’re interested please reply to this thread with some links to your latest work.

posted a message on Seeking 3 experienced city planners/builders/redstone guru’s for a semi-vanilla survival server release this October

    Introduction:

So this is a plan I’ve had for about 7 years now, however I never had time or extra cash to execute it, so I would only run private servers for me and my friends and just accepted the reality that I couldn’t at the time afford to host a bangin 24/7 public server. Fortunately now that I have my life together I can spare some time and money on a dedicated public server. Now for the nerdy part: I consider myself a professional redstone wizard who’s built fully functional computers and calculators from scratch in creative mode, without tutorials. However, where my creativity stands out is infrastructure design in survival mode (automatic rail systems, railway crossings with gates and flashing lights, etc). My infrastructure builds feature no exposed redstone and are lag resistant, and I am looking for experienced city planners to expand on the layout.

About the server (boring stuff but you may want to know):

This won’t be your typical server, this ones going to correct a lot of what I believe are problems with public servers today. For starters, the server will be as vanilla as possible. There will be land claims and other small addons, however the goal is to rely on in game mechanics to provide a rewarding experience. Also, as long as the server maintains its growth in its first few months of operation, the server will remain 24/7/365+ several generations. Meaning the goal is to keep the server running forever, or at least until online activity comes to a complete halt, in which case the server world file will be available to download for free. The plan is to send backups of the world file atleast twice a month to atleast one of the staff (potentially you) in case anything happens to me or my computer, so that the legacy may continue. This will help alleviate a lot of the fear that many players may have when building in a public server, that all of their work may disappear after a major update or a server admin that loses interest. Knowing that you can check back in 5 years to admire your work is a very comforting feeling when dedicating large amounts of time to a public server. In the event of a major update I will run two servers simultaneously on the same machine, upgrading it as necessary. Although unlikely, If the server shows no signs of growth in its first several weeks (I will be promoting like crazy) there is the possibility that the project may be canceled and the world file will be made available for download. Because of this risk, the server will first start on my personal gaming computer (16 gigs of ram, i5 8600k clocked at 4.9ghz) with 8 gigs initially dedicated to the server. The server will remain 24/7 during this phase and I will substitute my gaming needs with a Nintendo switch, this is to avoid potentially wasting a lot of money on a dedicated server only for there to be little to no volume. Once the server shows signs of growth I will build a dedicated server starting with 64 gigs of ram and a motherboard that has plenty of ram slots to expand the amount of ram if necessary. I hope to make my money back from my hardware investment through the sale of claim blocks.

    Compensation:

If profit exceeds the cost of server maintenance I will split my profits with the staff/city builders, the majority of which will go to whoever brings the most value to the server. If you, for example, recruit hundreds of players resulting in a massive profit, you will get a fair cut of the earnings. I haven’t decided on a percentage, but it will likely be a generous amount to encourage staff to continue providing a quality experience and bringing in traffic. You will also be provided with plenty of claim blocks for your own builds without having to pay for them.

    The server:

This server (haven’t yet named it) will be a semi-vanilla survival server that relies on complex, user friendly infrastructure, mostly powered by redstone, with all wires and circuits hidden within walls and underneath floors to maintain a clean, welcoming appearance throughout the city. I am currently building a transportation hub at spawn in creative mode which travels up and down the Z axis, and up and down the X axis. I will be designing the spawn infrastructure as well as managing the upper Z axis. Your task would be to manage the lower Z axis, Upper X axis or lower X axis near the spawn, and continue to build and expand the cities infrastructure indefinitely. Other players will be free to roam and claim land as they wish, so be sure to claim whatever you may not want to lose access to. Each axis is its own unique biome with plenty of building and aesthetic opportunity (I spent a lot of time generating the right seed)

My current goal at this time is to recruit 3 well qualified city planners with experience planning and designing quality city infrastructure, including buildings that you think will benefit your residents; essentially making you the “mayor” and building paths and tunnels throughout the land that’s allocated to you. And rail, you’ll want to have a quality rail system, because there will be no teleporting in this server. That’s right. That sense of accomplishment after successfully completing a journey adds a very warm vibe to any vanilla Minecraft experience. The hope is for players to not have to type in anything unless they’re sending a message or managing their claims, and to keep the server as vanilla as possible. I’m still in the process of searching for the right plugins, which won’t be many. PvP is very likely

In other words, instead of installing a ton of plugins and letting players have their way in a game you could barely call Minecraft, I will instead manage the experience with natural in-game mechanics.

    Your task:

You will be provided with a copious amount of claim blocks to claim your infrastructure while leaving unclaimed lots around it for players to build and connect to (hiding redstone is mandatory). You may also claim your vacant lots and decide who builds where, if you wish (I will be doing this with several lots near spawn) and it is encouraged that you work with fellow residents to integrate your infrastructure with their builds. The server spawn building features 4 shuttle rail stations that will go in all 4 directions, and there will be two stops for each railway. You are encouraged to integrate each stop with your infrastructure, potentially making the final stop a rail station that travels throughout the city. This shuttle system is a design of mine has been carefully tweaked over many years and currently works very efficiently. It takes about 2 hours of nonstop crafting to build each station, and is heavily reliant on redstone. The minecart will consistently travel back and fourth on a looped railway, coming to a halt at each station for a total of 8 seconds. Once the cart arrives, pistons will lower a gate that will allow a player to enter the station and board the minecart. After 8 seconds the gate will rise and the cart will automatically depart to the next stop, where the process repeats itself until it arrives back at the first station. The cart will continue to travel up and down the rail indefinitely just as long as nothing disrupts the minecart. Best of all, this system is designed to be idle proof, meaning the cart won’t get stuck at a stop if no one has been in the area for a while. A downside would be that players have to wait for the shuttle to arrive, and this design only supports one player at a time. For this reason there will also be paths alongside each rail, heading straight into your city from the spawn building. Each station sports a neat appearance with no exposed redstone.

And that’s it, that’s all your land will have when you start building, a pathway and a railway alongside it. It is encouraged that you use this as your main highway for traffic, though you’re free to design it however you feel necessary.

    Interested?

I’d like to take the time to thank everyone who read this post, and I hope you all find the right server that you’re looking for. If my server idea interests you and you’d like to be a part of it, please feel free to email me at [email protected] and provide me with a list of your build accomplishments as well as some photos of your latest builds, preferably infrastructure designs. If you are accepted you will be provided with the IP, and whitelisted to the server, which is currently set to creative mode for faster building. The server will remain 24/7 on a wireless connection once you’re accepted, and will be switched to a wired connection before release. There is no world edit. Good luck:)
