:cobblestone: :cobblestone: :cobblestone: :cobblestone: :|: :cobblestone:
:cobblestone: :cobblestone: :cobblestone: :cobblestone: :cobblestone: :cobblestone:

it must be built exactly like this where :Lava: is the lava source and :|: is the ladder. spacing is crucial. lava only travels 3 blocks out. i have a giant mob trap from bedrock to sky and it works perfectly fine.

edit: and yes its on my smp server

posted a message on Dual door pressure plate dilema
I made a video showing one that can use two pressure plates. Just arrange wiring to fit your needs.

oh and uhh you would just need to run redstone from the from under the pressure plates to the other side of the door if you needed to.

    What Fooby said:)

I don't know if that will help windows 64bit users as well, but I'll spam this here anyway:

    - Download the minecraft.jar from the Linux/Others section from http://minecraft.net/download.jsp
    - Make a batch file like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe -Xmx512M -Xms512M -cp C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft\Minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame
You may have to modify the pathname to the java.exe and minecraft.jar according to your installation of course.
    - Run batch file

    http://getsatisfaction.com/mojang/topics/bwod_black_window_of_death

    Good luck!

if you use that batch file your going to force minecraft to use the 32bit java.
the default location of 64 bit java is in C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe (notice the removal of the (x86) part)

its easier if you rename minecraft.exe to minecraft.jar and use the copy the following into notepad and call it something like "launch.bat":
    @echo off

    "c:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xms1024M -Xmx1536M -jar C:\Path to your Minecraft.jar

which is usually more than what is needed. you can change it to -Xmx2048 if you really feel the need to.

edit: to download 64 bit java you would usually need to be using a 64-bit browser otherwise it will just keep giving you the 32bit download unless you use the direct download that is already linked by fooby

posted a message on UNIQUE Minecraft lag problem
The state of the game right now is fairly laggy no matter what system you are running although it is just more intermittent on higher end systems.

windows 7 is actually on par with xp for gaming.

anyone on these forums who tells you "graphics" card doesnt matter on this game is either delusional or very misinformed.

looking up your laptop i believe you have an ATI HD 4200 video card.

other things you can try are: defrag your hd, try turning your antivirus off (active scanners dont play well with this game).

/mspawn is a hmod command do you have the hmod installed? if you do, you have to be an admin or have the appropriate command added to your group.txt.

posted a message on The BEST way to mine diamond, layer 11(12.620) and you.
test in new world. roughly 2 hours each type.

running around deep cave systems poking around lava level = 8 diamonds
strip mining at lvl 12 = 31 diamonds
(i skipped everything that wasnt in my way)

imo strip mining at lava level has always yielded more diamonds. plus if you dont feel like wandering/traveling far away you still have many chances at getting diamonds in supposedly dried up caverns.

in mcedit i actually saw 1 pair of diamonds that was under a block of bedrock and maddening to see all the diamonds i missed by 2 or 3 blocks.

99% of the time windows update will never keep your drivers updated. You can take a look at the "bad video card drivers" link in my sig and if you still cant fix it post a dxdiag report.

posted a message on Think I deleted a save forever
believe it or not a system restore might bring it back if you had it installed in the default appdata folder. if your restore point is too old you may or may not want to do that though.

or you can use one of the "delete file recovery" programs out there.

edit: this is assuming you have windows vista/7. the one in xp is pickier on what it monitors.

posted a message on Need help with private server
I would try getting the server to work locally before even thinking about getting it to work on the internet. it may be a firewall that could be blocking the connection but usually isnt so if your connecting to the server on the same computer.

the 127.0.0.1 and localhost is only if you are trying to play on the same computer than is running the server. all other computers in the house will need to use the 192.168.x.x number you get from ipconfig on the server.

ie. if your servers ipv4 address is 192.168.0.2 then people connected to your home network will need to type that in their IP box on minecraft.
