I just wanted to stop by to say, I love this pack, and your art. You are a fabulous artist, and I just love everything you do. Probably my favorite 16x pack. well done sir.
1)To artists: How is your thread currently organized? Do you think the layout could be better? What would you change?
To texture users (non-artists are artists alike):What types of threads draw you in? What features (text, screenshots, videos, etc) grab your attention the most? What do you look for in text, screenshots, videos, etc?
Mainly, I want screenshots. I want clear ones that show off everything in the pack. Those fancy collages are nice, but if they're all that there is, It makes it hard for me to get a feel for the pack sense everything is at weird angles and shrunken.
2) What is the number one thing you look for (in a thread) when deciding whether or not to download a pack?
Screen shots, and coherent speech. "I mad this texta pak cuz i just love dogz so much so i said il mak a dogz pak like nao and her tis bros plz dl" will never get a download from me. However, some one with good speech, who is polite, and organized will most likely have a much higher chance of getting a download.
3) What is your biggest turn-off in terms of pack presentation/thread organization?
Having 1 or 2 screenshots, and linking me to another page for more. Also idiots similar to my example for #2
4) What types of titles draw you in? Long titles? Short titles? Titles with fancy symbols? Catchy subtitles or informative subtitles?
I usually dont read subtitles on the texture pack page. So something that's just the pack name, and other info necessary for forums. (resolution, etc.) I don't mind if the pack name is long, like synthetic reality photorealism, and I don't mid short ones either, like jolicraft.
5) What types of titles make you grimace/avoid the thread? Long titles? Short titles? Titles with fancy symbols? Catchy subtitles or informative subtitles?
Well, necessarily long tittles are well... TL;DR. Also, I usually don't like packs with the word craft in them. I see say "Lost Valley" and "ubersmexaycraft" next to eachother, I'll go with the former, because "...craft" just seems less original.
6) To artists: Where do you market your pack? Do you link back to one thread, or do you put download links on every site? Which seems to work better for gaining more downloads/fans?
To texture users (non-artists are artists alike): Where do you go trolling for new packs? Do you try to avoid links that direct you to another page (aka, if the link states 'go to this other website to download')? Do you avoid links that use adfly? Mediafire?
I rarely go trolling for packs. When I just look on the texture pack forum, I rarley find anything goo. The main way I find packs, is through sigs on threads I like. Your threads, along with 42and19's, all ways draw people with good taste, and usually great art as well, so that's a great way to find new packs. I don't mind adfly at all, given the choice, I usually go with adfly if I think the artist spent time and effort on the pack. I like supporting people's work. I do like though, when links are organized like so:
download(adfly)
download(mirror)
and I like direct downloads. I don't mind going through a medifire link, but if I can download with it, it makes me happy.
It just annoys me that Notch/Jeb don't do the same for all the blocks...imagine the possibilities...perhaps they made allthe blocks transparent and we just didn't realize. :blink.gif:
First off, after playing around for a while. LOVE the new mobs, I know hunt out spiders becuase killing their epic skin fills me with waaaay more joy than slaying creepers. Also, pigs are sooo cute. Not as cute as cows, but still very cute. And you snuck a few items in their too. I love the string, bone, and feathers. (any I'm missing?) and also, this:
Minecraft just got sooo much more epic.
Just installed an enchanting area in my hobbit hole
Noooooooooo! I love the new cobble, it's so feather-y!
:sleep.gif: ok...
But it is up to feathers.
And I know Feathers will make the right choice.
Also, I love the new sound effects with RC2. The doors, and xp orbs. especially work so well with this pack.
I'm going to take everyone's silence as agreement that this should be the new cobble. And in the spirit of the moment, I've set it up as the default on the customizer. ^^
Nooooooooooo! I love the old cobble, it's so feather-y.
Also, love the update. Just got bak home, so I'll let you know what I think in a sec. Also, I don't have Skyrim either! Stupid money.
Gorammit. Mcpatcher/and/or/optifine has not been updated to the release candidate, and well, I just love brick so much, and as much as I love this pack, I don't like fire everywhere too. But the second that one of those is updated, I will use this pack, and love it! And as for what I've seen already. I like the GUI buttons, I would make them darker though.
Forum etiquette, guys: unless it is preceded by the words 'better than', don't mention Doku. Trust me, it's infuriating and used to happen a lot to me.
Also, dropping into a thread to say 'I replaced your pack' is pretty weird.
Well said, well said.
So how's the armor coming Feathers? You know, that awesome thing that you are doing that Doku never did?

I like how I bash bad spelling and grammar, then I have soooo many speling mistakes in my post.

Turning off structures also turns off dungeons, mine shafts, and strongholds

Hm, someone should make a mod that makes most blocks like leaves. With both fast, and fancy versions. And have a few support opacity, like ice.

If that is vague, I could find a picture for you that better explains it.

I guarantee you we will be more than happy with just the spiders, and gui and butloads of other beautiful textures that you have done.
