not trying to start a flame war in the slightest, i just want your guy's oppinions, what do you still see in this mod? sea clearly doesnt have enough time to work on it to get any where far with it (well, for at least the next 2 years) and even with him being on summer break he still doesnt have time, he is either lazy or, like i just said doesnt have enough time im going to go with the nice option and say he doesnt have time. but really do you mind if you tell me what you still see in this mod?

Simple. Even though it's slow to release, the content is good, the complete project looks promising and considering I only play Minecraft casually - and with about six other modded clients in different directories - the pace simply means that my Pokemobs world is a build world when I want to play it. I'm in university myself - I understand just how much time it can eat up, especially when you have other, equally important commitments to meet as well. There's no reason to stop following the mod just because the mod maker takes a while to update, even if there's faster updates from the other mods. Each has its own style, and I like this one's well enough to not really care about the time it's taking to finish.

Don't bother looking the reference up. He's pathetic, an immature idiot who's popular for yelling and swearing at his camera.

Nice ideas, but we need cows n stuff for food.
Unless he adds a mob like milktank then we could kill and eat that for food.

    Tauros?

    Quote from Skybrigadier

If he took out the NPCs, then why keep them in instead of taking them out? e_e

Because it's only temporary. Town generation is being fixed, then re-implemented somewhere down the track.

Queen Ant and Ant mobs. More like a Queen Ant boss mob and Warrior/Worker ants which spawn underground. After experimenting with the Dwarf and Dullahan spawns I feel I should make more variation underground. The deeper you go the more deadly it becomes. I might also make mobs which only spawn at high altitudes (such as the sky). My only limit is the height of the underground itself (64 y-axis I believe).

I am also planning to prevent a few night mobs from spawning too deep underground (such as the Naga) because it does not make much sense that it spawns deep underground. Maybe around 75% nearer to the surface instead.

If you keep on with this line of development, this mod may wind up becoming similar to Mo'Creatures in scale :P

You could, perhaps (if you can figure out how to code them in) make the queen ant spawns into mini-dungeons around the lower part of the map, with the ants eating through stone blocks to reach the player?

I never posted it. As I said, I haven't tested the theory out. I'm merely pointing people to an easier way to find it, should it work....
Oh my god, I just figured it out. Not saying, though.

Congrats! And I know, just throwing it out there :P

    GRAAAH. CONFOUND YOU MISSINGNO.
Where can I find this almighty....thing? Please, PLEASE tell me he exists as a spawnable creature. Spawner GUI doesn't work and SPC is incompatible with one of the mods I have.

EDIT: More MoC strangeness: I just saw a level 5 Pidgey kill a bear. O_o

Unfortunately, no it is not :P Not without something that allows you to manually spawn it.

And in regards to Porygon - PLEASE don't post the solution! ;) More interesting if everyone goes through the effort to find it themselves.

The shower is a place of contemplation and reflection, where many of our best ideas take root and are generally forgotten around the point in time that the hot water runs out.

On topic: For wild Pokemon the existing system is fine (realistic at the very least, and your pokemon gain experience from taking damage), but I do agree that there should probably be some sort of flagging system for trainer battles with other players and multiple NPCs at once. Perhaps a typed command for SMP would change your PvP status toward a player from hostile to neutral/friendly?

Nope, or at least they won't tell us. I have asked this question before and the only response i got was that it has to do with the pc. sorry :(

I don't believe there's anything wrong with this. It's difficult to get because very few people know how, and that's the way it should be :P A little effort for a decent reward is a good thing in most cases.

They weren't serious, if I recall correctly. Only solid hint we have is that it's PC-related.

posted a message on Has Greifing become a sport?
    Quote from RedstoneLite

To answer the main question, griefing is can be interpreted as a sport. Many of the people who have posted, take it for a completely and utter literal sense of the word sport. A sport is mainly something you do as a team to compete against others, which can be defined as griefing. In a sense, the people who are griefing, are competeting against the server as their opponent so yes. There are also some servers that allow griefing.
In all honesty, it's up to the players and the admins if they want to allow this kind of behavior from their players. There are many ways to do this, whitelist, bukkit, and just your pure judgement can prevent griefers.

Hockey is a sport in which the players compete against those on the other team. Beating the **** out of the other team is not necessarily a sport unto itself, is it? Neither is there much that can be done to truly discourage such actions in their games, since if somebody's willing to do it despite the rules the only thing that's really going to stop them is keeping them from playing in the first place. Griefing is to gaming as violence is to sports, in both cases: an activity attributed to a certain sport - sometimes with minority deviations that treat it as a sport - but not really a sport unto itself.

See here's the difference between this and those things in grieving people create teams, tools, forums, community's and other things DEDICATED to griefing, and as much as it may suck it has became a sport you can see how popular it is, These teams even have FAN BASE'S and buy merch for these guys!

You could easily create tools to make the examples he provided easier. Technically speaking, a tool is anything that makes a specific task easier. Bottles make the collection and consumption of fluid easier. Stoves make cooking safer and more efficient. Forums make communication between social groups faster and easier.

To take the example he provided in the post after the one I've quoted to an extreme, there's also community sites for paedophiles, hackers and the like. These groups tend to have a collective interest that they enjoy, but the practice of that interest is not healthy, safe nor conductive to their communities in any way, shape or form - least of all entertainment.

Having the tools to make a thing more efficient does not apply official status or sanction to an act in any way, shape or form.

    Quote from barrygateaux

griefing is just an anti social activity by people with psychological problems - it's the same as smashing bottles in the street or torturing kittens. it's an outward manifestation of insecurity and deep seated anxiety about not having a role in society.

Having compared griefing with those sort of extremes myself, I do have to point out that this is a bad argument. Despite the fact that the act is on par with things that are assumed to be done by people with impaired social/mental faculties, they can easily be done and enjoyed by people of sound mental status.

Arguing that people who enjoy doing something that pisses other people off means they have a mental issue is simply a way to dehumanise the responsible party in order to justify being an asshole to them, and it's a pretty weak excuse. If you're going to hate them, at least come up with a legitimate reason, rather than using a hollow cliche coined by someone who can't handle their anger. You wouldn't class a child as mentally impaired if they **** off their parents in order to get attention, do you?

Evolution must be done manually via the pokedex.

Fly, not sure if this will work, but try installing Rei's minimap as well. For some reason neither modloader nor modloaderMP would work without it for me, but once I installed it both worked perfectly.

Correction: We don't want people posting in the thread flaming Pokemobs with 'I like X mod better' as their excuse to do so. There's nothing wrong with saying you prefer another mod, just don't bash on ours in the process.

    Quote from Two pages back

First gen is all the mod maker is going to do, but he's releasing a mob creation kit at some point during the mod's development as well, I believe. If/when it comes out, we'll be able to make our own, and eventually someone will probably take it on themselves to collect posted models and group them into a generation pack for everyone else to download. Bit roundabout, but it will happen.
