I spotted a problem. As you can see, gravel no longer breaks when a torch is under it. The torch shouldn't be able to have gravity effected entities on it.
EDIT: I was able to break the blocks the next time I tried, however, this torch supports it. Therefore, I don't know if it is connected to the ssp lag or is a glitch.

Jun 22, 2012unsocialman posted a message on 12w25a Snapshot Ready for TestingDoes anyone else think that mining ores like coal and diamond gives the player too much xp? I am 30 minutes into my game and I am at level 31 already. They should give the player less than half of what they give now. Perhaps only refining ores should give xp? One good cave quest and a player can reach level 40 easily. The xp rewards should be slightly nerfed.Posted in: News

For those interested, my backpack editor (too many items) didn't seem to be up to date with computercraft, or something with it conflicted with the items in computercraft. Simply by replacing my backpack editor with Not Enough Items, The items now "exist", are craft able, and operable.

2) Mods take a couple of clicks to download, so yes they are easy. Problems arise with installing the mods. It just takes a bit of experience and some trial and error. However, with the new launcher, it is much more intuitive to install mods. Good guides exist on Youtube for this.
3) It depends on what mod you have, and whether or not your computer can handle the major fps drops with Hypercam (or whatever you use) and mods. Ultimately, good videos are made from entertaining personalities if that's what you're trying to get at, so really, technical issues aside, the quality of your video will rest on your shoulders.
4) Computercraft and Thaumcraft. Both are very powerful mods that drastically change gameplay for the better.

How long have you played Minecraft for? I've played for about 2.5 years.
What is your favorite style to build in? I love building modern style buildings, as I think they work best with Minecraft's cubic nature, and thus look neater than other styles. However, I also enjoy creating mythical structures, such as floating island-towers, and "evil" castles. I am able to construct in Gothic, medieval, and frontier styles as well with some skill, but I don't enjoy the finished product as much.
Past experience with other servers? The server I had been on the longest with was Axius, a large server with some essential and fun mini-game plugins. However, this died as the winter quarter began, and I went to a different server. Needless to say, the server died shortly after its creation due to player inactivity and a lack of community (everyone was competing against each other in a race to end game content, not casually working with others on projects and expeditions).
What is your building skill? Describe what you have built in the past. You can post pictures of your builds or links to them or whatever here. I consider myself adept, but not an expert in the areas of architecture and redstone. In the past, I've built medieval towers, walls, houses, and castles on my own. On Axius, I worked with some people on the server to construct large auto-harvest wheat farms, and created
State why you would like to join our server. I would like to join the server to get back into minecraft after about a month off, while enjoying the sense of community that multiplayer servers bring. By the questions you ask on this application, I presume that community builds are a large part of what draws the community together, and I feel that I could both learn, and lend skills necessary for the completion of these tasks.
Do you have a microphone? I play on a laptop that has a built in mic, but I don't have the individual accessory.
How active will you be towards the server? Keep in mind you will be kicked for in-activity: An hour a day.

3. A little about you: I've been an avid minecraft fan for about a year now, and want to see what it's like to play on a vanilla server.
4. How you feel about pranking: I'm fine with it, as long as the prank doesn't possess long term detrimental effects to the one being pranked.
5. How you feel about griefing: It has it's place in certain situations. But the innocent shouldn't have to deal with it.
6. Anything else you want to say: Looking forward to playing with you guys.

In regard to your structure, if you are looking to replicate a nordic style roof, think about how the roofs are shaped. Are they perfectly triangular? No, they have a curve in them, almost as if the sides of the triangle that is your roof are sagged in. To create this effect, you simply need to alter the height of your stairs. You could place a row of wooden blocks and then stairs on top of them. Rinse and repeat to get the "bowing" shape that those style of roofs seem to have.
A last tip, the key to detail in buildings is to break up flat surfaces with two things: color and texture. Add texture by possibly adding roof supports, and extending them out one block past your wall. Good luck with your construction!
