*Note* This mod is constantly being updated, information you read on other sites where this mod is shown off are subject to be out of date quickly, so check back here often as I plan on adding much more to this mod!

Known Issue: When you make an Aether item, the game is supposed to enchant it with high-level enchantments, but if you shift+click the item it won't get enchanted. This is a problem with the Minecraft code, not with my mod. The easiest solution to this is to not shift+click the item if you want the enchantments.

    Current version: 0.12 Beta

    Latest update:

    • Made my mod harder, which isn't necessarily a bad thing! I felt getting Aether was actually relatively easy because if you rush an Aether Pickaxe it has a very good chance of getting a high level Fortune enchantment, which would allow you to gain a butt ton of red diamonds in the future. So I added 2 items and changed where Sky Ore spawns to hopefully push the player down the vanilla Minecraft path as well as mine and incentivise them playing the game how it's supposed to. Infinium Gems are made with Diamond, Red Diamond, and Amethyst. Infernal Gems are made with Blaze Rods, Magma Cream, and an Infinium Gem and are needed to build Steel Machine Blocks. The last change is Sky Ore spawns in the End, requiring the player to go there in order to get Aether equipment. This allows them to continue playing the game after they beat it!
    • Latest Update: July 24, 2014

Hey everybody! Today I'm going to show you a mod for Minecraft that I hope you'll all enjoy. I felt the world was a little bland when you went down into caverns, so I added a bunch more tools, armor, blocks, materials, and recipes to hopefully help spice up the world by just a little. I thought that going down into caves for just iron or diamond, ignoring everything else was simply boring, and the fact that diamond is 522% better than iron is just crazy talk. So without any more distractions, let's get down to what this mod offers.

    • 28 new blocks
    • 16 new materials
    • 30 new tools
    • 24 new armor pieces
    • 2 new foods
    • 100 total new items and blocks
    • 6 new tool and armor types
    • 7 new ores
    • 4 new fuels
    • 88 new crafting recipes
    • 24 achievements

    Tools and Armor:
For tools, wood has 60 uses, and stone has 132, an increase of 120%. Stone (132 uses) to iron (251 uses) is an increase of 90%. Finally iron (251 uses) to diamonds (1562 uses) is an increase of 522%.

For armor, leather (25 durability) to iron (225 durability) is an increase of 800%! And diamond (1089 durability) to iron (225 durability) is 384% better. So I hope by these number you'll see that vanilla durability gaps are incredibly wide, so I added materials (Malachite, Steel, Amethyst, Chromium, Red Diamond, and Aether) to help even out the gap, and the new numbers with my tools and armor are as follows:

For tools, wood (60 uses) to stone (132 uses) stays the same with a 120% increase. Stone (132 uses) to malachite (172 uses) is a 30% increase. Malachite (172 uses) to iron (250 uses) is a 45% increase. Iron (250 uses) to steel (314 uses) is a 26% increase. Steel (314 uses) to amethyst (550 uses) is a 75% increase. Amethyst (550 uses) to chromium (913 uses) is a 66% increase. Chromium (913 uses) to diamond (1561 uses) is a 71% increase. Diamond (1561 uses) to red diamond (3124 uses) is a 100% increase. And red diamond (3124 uses) to aether (6248 uses) is a 100% increase.

For armor, leather (25 durability) to malachite (100 durability) is a 300% increase. Malachite (100 durability) to iron (225 durability) is a 125% increase. Iron (225 durability) to steel (324 durability) is a 44% increase. Steel (324 durability) to amethyst (484 durability) is a 49% increase. Amethyst (484 durability) to chromium (676 durability) is a 40% increase. Chromium (676 durability) to diamond (1089 durability) is a 61% increase. Diamond (1089 durability) to red diamond (2209 durability) is a 103% increase. And red diamond (2209 durability) to aether (4356 durability) is a 97% increase.

So as you can see, the percentages are leveled significantly, allowing a smoother curve in the efficiency of armor and tools the player gets as they play the game.

    Alloy Furnaces:
This mod also features alloy furnaces, where you can smelt two objects together to make a brand new thing! So far there are three alloy furnaces, where each better one smelts more and more things. Here's a brief description of each one:

    • Alloy Furnace: This is the very basic, starter alloy furnace. It can only smelt a few things, but these things will pave the way to making the more powerful ones. It can smelt iron and carbon into steel, glass and obsidian into tempered glass, and two aether dust into and aether ingot.
    • Refined Alloy Furnace: After smelting tons of iron and steel, you're ready for the upgrade! The Refined Alloy Furnace allows you to smelt everything the Alloy Furnace can, only quicker! It also allows you to smelt two of the same ore together, getting 50% profit! EX: Smelting two iron ores will yield 3 iron ingots.
    • Aether Alloy Furnace: You've come a far way if you've been able to smelt this much iron, steel, and aether, but now you're ready for the ultimate alloy furnace. This bad boy smelts incredibly fast, and on top of being able to smelt everything its previous generations can, it gives 100% profit when smelting two ores together! Not only all that, but it opens the door to transmutation, a mechanic that allows you to smelt two objects together to get one item of a higher tier. For a more in-depth description, view the Transmutation segment below.

    Transmutation:
Well, you've got the fancy Aether Alloy Furnace, now what? Well now it's time to put a good use to all that dirt, redstone, and malachite you've been hoarding this whole time. Transmutation allows you to smelt two of the same items, giving you one item of a higher tier. Then you can smelt two of those higher tier items into an even higher tier. The range of items stretches from dirt at the bottom all the way to aether at the top!
    There's three types of transmutations:

    • Normal Transmutation: This is smelting 2 of the same objects together, upgrading them to a single unit of the next tier.
    • Reverse Transmutation: This is achieved by putting the item you want in the left slot (For instance, Iron) and what you want to "burn" in the right slot to turn it back into the first slot (For instance, Diamond). Smelting a diamond to get back iron will return 64 iron, since it takes 64 iron to make a diamond.
    • Note: For Reverse Transmutation, the lower tier item goes on the left, and the higher tier item goes on the right.
    • Quick Transmutation: Instead of doing something, like smelting a stack of dirt to get 32 peat, then smelting 32 peat to get 16 coal, then smelting 16 coal... and so on all the way up to get just a single piece of iron from 64 dirt, you can put what you want (For instance, Iron) in the left slot and what you want to "burn" in the right slot to turn it into the left slot quickly (For instance, Dirt). Smelting 64 dirt instantly will return one iron, since it takes 64 dirt to make a piece of iron.
    • Note: For Quick Transmutation, the lower tier item goes on the right, and the higher tier item goes on the left.
    • Picture of the transmutation list:
    • Video explaining transmutation plus a little more:

    Food:
I added two new foods: Dense Cakes and Sandwiches. I felt that food in Minecraft was a bit limiting, because most cooked food (chicken, pork, and beef) replenish a lot of saturation. But that incentivised eating food when you were lower on saturation, to the point where health wouldn't regenerate. The alternative was to eat something like bread, which replenishes less saturation so you have to eat more often but the choice to eat it past the point of health not regenerating isn't as tough to make as it is with the meat.

So the first food I'll show is the Dense Cake. It heals 4 hunger (2 full hunger bars) but has higher saturation than a golden carrot, so it'll fill you up for a long time.
The next food is the Sandwich. This one is a little complicated to make, but it's definitely worth it. It heals a whopping 15 hunger! That's 7 and a half full hunger bars out of 10. It's nuts. It also has twice the saturation as a dense cake, so you'll not need a lot of these for a long expedition.

The recipe for the sandwich requires Meat Slices and Bread Slices.

    Meat Slice recipe:

Then you need Bread Slices, their recipe follows:

You can also put three Bread Slices in a row to turn them back into Bread.
You then use Bread and Meat Slices to make a Sandwich:

    To get my mod:

    • Launch Minecraft once in 1.7.2.
    • Download the latest version of Forge for 1.7.2 here.
    • Install Forge (run it as a Java application), it will do everything for you.
    • You should now have a mods folder in %appdata%/.minecraft
    • Download my mod here. Put it in your mods folder Forge made
    • Launch Minecraft with your Forge profile and have fun!
    • (Link to the 1.6.4 mod if you want it here, be warned, it's incredibly out dated)

    Issues:

    • There are instances where my mod items will be replaces with other mod items, such as items from my mod turning into other items in things like chests. This is most likely an ID overlap which is a problem with the mods you're using as a whole, not necessarily with my mod alone.
    • When you craft any Aether equipment, the game is supposed to enchant it with extremely high-level enchantments. If you shift+click the Aether item into your inventory, it won't be enchanted. This is a problem with the Minecraft code, not with my mod. The easiest solution is to not shift+click the item if you want the enchantments.
    • After an Aether tool or armor is created, it'll show enchantments, which will change once if you close the inventory and reopen it. I'm not sure what's causing this but it won't make you lose enchantments so honestly it's nothing I'm too worried about.

    Future additions:

    • I wanted an apple tree to spawn in and it was a good way to get apples and golden apples, but couldn't get it 100% right so it's not implemented.
    • More crafting that involves more than just the crafting bench, maybe something like my own bench or furnace that can be used for special purposes.
    • Magical weapons and tools and armor that can be made from Aether components that hold special properties.
    • More bows and arrows, haven't been able to figure that one out just yet.

    Logs:

    • Version 0.0.2, March 24, 2014: Made a new ore! Carbon Ore, it smelts into anthracite rather than having the player smelt coal.
    • Version 0.0.3, March 25, 2014: Made a new ore! Experience Ore, mine this to get a lot of experience! It it rarer than Amethyst so it's probably on par with gold spawn rate. Sneak update, made red diamonds less rare, so they wouldn't be such a pain to find. They're still more rare than regular diamonds to keep paying attention!
    • Version 0.0.4, March 26, 2014: Made the mod server compatible!
    • Version 0.0.5, March 27, 2014: Fixed the item/block registry names!
    • Version 0.0.6, March 27, 2014: Tweaked some of the rarity of ores, made chromite and red diamond slightly more rare to make them as rare as I wanted them compared to other ores.
    • Version 0.0.7, March 30, 2014: Added 19 achievements!
    • Version 0.0.8, March 30, 2014: Moved experience ore to the nether. That was my original intention but couldn't make it spawn there at the time.
    • Version 0.1 Beta, April 19, 2014: Super huge update, I'm now in beta! It's such a big update I skipped 0.0.9! Added two alloy furnaces, the normal alloy furnace and the refined alloy furnace along with another material, iron and steel machine blocks, and tons of alloy furnace recipes!
    • Version 0.2 Beta, April 20, 2014: Made amethyst more rare, cause relative to chromium which is just one step above amethyst, nearly 8 times more amethyst was found than chromite ore.
    • Version 0.3 Beta, April 20, 2014: Changed achievements around to suit the new additions to the alloy furnace, removed steel pieces as I have made the alloy furnace work. You now get a steel ingot for each iron and carbon ore you smelt.
    • Version 0.4 Beta, April 27, 2014: Introducing... the Aether Alloy Furnace! This mega upgrade is the final tier in the alloy furnaces, allowing insanely fast smelting, 100% bonus from smelting ores, and transmutation!
    • Added the Experience Shard. This is from mining Experience Ore. Smelting Experience Shards give 4 Bottles of Enchanting each!
    • Made Steel Machine Blocks easier to make. They now take one Steel Block instead of four.
    • Version 0.5 Beta, April 29, 2014: Lowered the alloy furnace's smelt speed, it was set too high.
    • Added Compact Cobblestone, made by crafting nine cobblestone in a crafting bench, useful for putting together whole stacks of cobblestone.
    • Added Compact Stone, made by smelting Compact Cobblestone, or by crafting nine stone in a crafting bench, useful for putting together whole stacks of stone.
    • Version 0.6 Beta, Skipped on accident.
    • Version 0.7 Beta, May 5, 2014: Fixed a problem with my ores not spawning in the 6th dimension for Aroma1997's Dimensional Mining World.
    • Added Carbon Dust: This is acquired by smelting coal. You then smelt two Carbon Dust in an alloy furnace to get an Anthracite Piece. This is for those who can't find carbon.
    • Changed how ores spawned very slightly, it shouldn't be that noticeable but I evened out somethings I felt needed changed.
    • Version 0.8 Beta, May 9, 2014: Last update messed up ore generation, I fixed it along with ore generation in the Dimensional Mining Mod.
    • Version 0.9 Beta, July 18, 2014: Lots of things added. Tweaked the alloy furnaces to be able to act like regular furnaces so you can smelt whatever you could in a normal furnace in my alloy furnaces. Also fixed the Fortune bug where my ores wouldn't yield extra materials if you had a Fortune enchanted pick. Also added some new food to the game!
    • Version 0.10 Beta, July 20, 2014: Fixed an issue where my material armor/tools couldn't be repaired with their respective material. Also made Aether Dust slightly easier to make (requires 3 Red Diamond in a diagonal and 4 diamonds in the 4 cardinal directions).
    • Version 0.11 Beta, July 21, 2014: Changed the Transmutation tree. I removed Steel and Experience Shards from the tree and replaced them with Quartz and Emeralds, because I didn't want steel to be able to be made with both Iron+Carbon and Iron+Iron in an Aether Alloy Furnace. Also you couldn't get Experience Bottles out of Experience Shards with an Aether Alloy Furnace since the code thought you were trying to transmute them, so I removed them from the tree and you now get 16 Experience Bottles from smelting 2 Experience Shards in the Aether Alloy Furnace.
    • Version 0.12 Beta, July 24, 2014: Made my mod harder, which isn't necessarily a bad thing!

Guys give this more attention! This seems like a really cool mod, though I don't use smartphone apps, this seems like it could be extremely useful and convenient for those who do.

As someone who's also made an ore + tool + armor mod it's nice to see some variance from the original idea!

Yeahhhh using diamond blocks for an essence gem just seems a little too much :v It seems like a really cool concept, but you need to clean it up a bit recipe wise in order to attract more people to get it, right now it's very very end game-y and that will probably turn a lot of people off.

No problem! By any chance is there any additional information you can give me? Like does Minecraft start up but not register my mod or does it crash with any information when my mod is tried?

Hmm I'm not sure if I made it compatible with servers, but I'll look into it right now!
