Probably related to the server setting or the connection between you and the server.
Also, if the spawn chunk is very far away from the lava area it means the server will have to resend all relative chunks, which can be the cause of these lag spikes.
You have been using Intel graphics all the time. Try downloading the NVIDIA drivers and install it, or go to your BIOS and change the graphics switching mode (or something similar) from dynamic to fixed.
I am not familiar with your specific model and these are only generic information.
I seem to be having my minecraft crashing every time I try to use my 1.5 texturepack. Yes it's formatted for 1.5. It's annoying because it doesn't do it in the previous snapshot I have.
I use a low-graphics texture pack and since a while a go the game gets laggy, it frozes, sometimes the blocks turn invisible and in other they all turn white. But in the end you can't play and you have to restart.
So, Then I turned to the average minecraft skin and a bigger problem persists, the game frozes after 5mins playing or crasher for no reason and a pop-up says "the windows graphic-card has recovered" appears, so probably is the graphic fall described above.
I have never experienced so many technical problems with the game until a while ago, but I watt to know if it is the update what is causing the error or maybe something on my computer (I really doubt it, since minecraft has always run fine)
There is a line stating it is included, but as you can see on the bug tracker: https://mojang.atlas.../browse/MC-1794
it has not been solved yet, and has been on going for some time mainly for ATI/AMD users if i read the comments there correctly.
Issue is a known issue since it has been around since november 2012, for many ATI users you can change all the settings you like in both java and or minecraft + mods, the lines/stiches stay even in 1.5.1 (tested this as soon as i saw the release).
*side note: its less in 1.5.1 depending on light fall, so it seems it is related to the new lighting system that is having unexpected effects on rendering results, or is badly handled by ATI software. Either way its still there and is not solved at all.
*side note II: Ok maybe it has been fixed now, the Texture pack i stitched doesnt have these "lines". Maybe its my default pack that isnt showing correclty for some reason.
i have had a lsight problem on my 10.6 mac... when i open up minecraft to update MC it comes across a fatal error. can anyone tell me why it is doing this? thanks guys, nut its really bugging me, and i want to know whats going on...
You might want to start a new thread about your issue.
This happened to me when I turn on anti-aliasing (something anti-).
If you're using Optifine, turn off the anti- option for it.
OR...
...go to your Nvidia control panel and select [Manage 3D Settings].
Click add then browse to where you installed Java and find/select [javaw.exe] (DON'T choose minecraft.exe, javaw.exe is what Minecraft uses to run!)
Find the anti-aliasing option(s) and turn it/them off.
Hope this helps!
This bug has been fixed in the latest snapshot, and will be on its way to 1.5.1. Thank you for sharing though!
For bug reporters - I'm only posting bugs that can crash Minecraft. If you have a bug that doesn't crash Minecraft, open a thread in the Unmodified Minecraft Client Forum or search on the MoJIRA. Thank you!
Here is a list of currently known bugs and problems:
1. Mac OSX Users on or below 10.5 and/or any users with a graphics driver that only supports OpenGL 1.3 can't play Minecraft. ETA for Fix: Fixed in 1.5.1. If you are receiving errors like this one, it means your computer is too old for Minecraft.
2. There's a memory leak within Minecraft that is triggered by the following conditions:
You're switching texture packs several times
You're using a HD texture pack with a resolution higher than 256x256
Users who are using a HD texture pack with a resolution higher than 64x64 will experience significant FPS drop.
ETA for Fix: 1.6. Relevant bug report is here
3. Texture packs made before 1.5 will not work on the new version. This is intentional. In order to update your texture packs for 1.5 use, use this Unstitcher by Mojang: http://assets.minecraft.net/unstitcher/unstitcher.jar

You may have to reset your options.txt. Go to your .minecraft folder and delete options.txt.
Random holes that resolves itself momentarily means you have a slow PC, or you're on incorrect drivers.

May need to run Unstiticher.

Does the previous stable version (1.4.7) work?

I don't think MCPatcher has been updated for 1.5 yet - this new version just came out 10 hours ago.

The DLL file involved in this crash hints that it's an AMD card.
