I am a total noob when it comes to Minecraft. *snip*!

That's all I needed to hear. Now, fortunately I'm less crude than some about your sort, so I'm gonna walk you through it.
Assuming you're on a Windows system (which is a fairly safe assumption if you're on your dad's laptop) the files you want can be accessed by typing %appdata%\.minecraft\ into the Run dialog from the Start menu, which can itself be accessed by holding the Windows key and pressing R.
Inside .minecraft there will be a folder labelled bin which contains minecraft.jar. You'll need an archiving program (I recommend 7zip) to open this (and that's what you want to do, right click -> Open archive) and then it's a simple matter of copying the files provided in this mod into minecraft.jar, which is accomplished with a click-and-drag.
I'm really, really sorry I had to go into this much detail, and if this honestly doesn't help you then I'm going to have to default to the usual 'snide'.

No. I am using Fancy, as Fast REMOVES TRANSPARENCY from the game entirely, including leaves, ice and water - this is absolutely an outside issue, likely between OptiMine and CrystalClearWaters.
Don't assume; it just makes an ass out of you and me

Look who's talking. Removes transparency? Not so! Ever seen things like glass, torches, redstone, minecart tracks, or any of the other transparent blocks? On Fast, they're still transparent. Only leaves change to solid on Fast graphics.
And guess what, you just made an ass out of yourself.

    viewtopic.php?p=451078#p451078
Perhaps I should've made myself clearer. ALPHA transparency (i.e. anything that is not 100% clear) is ignored on Fast. Minecart tracks are incomplete blocks, as are torches - not transparent ones.
Leaves and ice both use alpha transparency, which is why they become solid.
Also, Fast makes the 3d clouds 2d 'for performance'.
I do so love arguing with strangers on the Internet about pointless semantics :iapprove:

You have FAST GRAPHICS on. Fancy gets rid of it.

The version that is NOT modloader compatible will prevent any mod that uses OSDHook (which is used to intercept keyboard input) not function. This would cause the problem you are having. Other things would too but this definately would.

Easiest way to test if this mod was the cause, would be for you to drag the pe.class file from your moadloder archive into the minecraft.jar. If sundial suddenly starts working you downloaded the wrong version of zans map.

Oh and if this DOESNT fix your problem you obviously need to drag the pe.class from your zans map download back into the minecraft.jar as you need it for the map to work properly.

Wouldn't this also cause Zombe's mod, which not only intercepts inputs but adds keymaps, to not work? I am certain that I'm using the correct version - Zan097 - but it's possible that since I had to use the source version (and not the installer) that something went wrong somewhere.
I appreciate you not immediately snapping at my seeming ignorance, but as it seems I'll be content with Zombe's version of the ability to be the God of Time in my Minecraft world.
    Thank you for your time.

So... any plans for a 1.2_02 update?

I second this notion. How many lines of code must you change just to change basic durability and effectiveness? I'm almost tempted to attempt it myself.

I've been running into --not so much a bug as a minor nuisance. When you're looking *through* a single block-thick of water, you can clearly see the edges of the water 'block'. I initially thought this was a conflict with CrystalClearWaters, but it seems to happen even on a fresh install on vanilla.

OptiMine modifies nh.class; Zan's Mod modifies pe.class. Both are stated ModLoader compatible. (I know, you didn't read the modlist. I understand.) Those are the only two which even touch on ML's seven classes. (edit: 7 two-letter classes. I know of no mod which modifies BaseMod or ModLoader.class.)
All the rest of my ModLoader-based mods also work; it's just the sun that's having issues.
I'm the meticulous sort who would keep a log of EVERY class and file EVERYTHING modifies - and to be honest I wouldn't have requested your help if I knew what to do here, because you have a reputation of being snide with people you believe are being ignorant.
I followed your instructions and 48 more sets of 'em to the letter, and everything except Sundial has rewarded me.
Now, please, return to your Fallout: NV. So sorry I troubled you. I'll go cope with zombe's mod.

Can you explain what wasnt functioning for you ?

I honestly can't. It's probably due to the solid 60+ mods I have cooperating precariously alongside it, but I've gotten this far:
CelestialSundial shows up in the Mod Settings menu and allows me to change settings. (I set needSundial=false)
Yet neither scrolling nor dawn/dusk toggling actually has any effect on the sun position.
I've racked my brain trying to find out what could be causing this conflict, and I can confirm that it does work on a clean install, but I'm drawing a blank. Perhaps you'd be able to offer some insight if I were to PM you my modlist?

I wish to shamelessly solicit you to update CelestialSundial. TeleCompass is working for me, but some little thing seems to throw Sundial off and I'm sad because it's making me use zombe's modpack - which conflicts with other things.
    Bleh.
    Please and thank you.

I've been having a troublesome, seemingly random crash bug lately, and I was wondering if you might lend some insight into it:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    	at cg.a(cg.java:129)
    	at h.a(h.java:869)
    	at ll.c(ll.java:347)
    	at ll.b(ll.java:288)
    	at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.run(SourceFile:668)
    	at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)

cg, h, and ll.class are all from this mod; cg.class had been patched properly by injecting this first, then installing MrMMods with the patcher.
I can also offer a full list of the mods I'm using and their respective classes by PM if you'd like.

EDIT: I've also noticed it only seems to happen on one world...I'm going to playtest on a new world and see if it comes up again or if it's unique to that one, and if so, it sounds like I get to lose some progress this fine evening.
EDIT2: The plot thickens. I used MinecraftMapDeleter to look over the map, and discovered some black blocks (likely corrupt chunks) in the area I was wandering when I started having crashes. Upon deleting those chunks and regenerating everything, it seems to be working fine thus far.
