Vacationing to prevent mental exhaustion. Programming can fry a brain very quickly. In the computer world, needing to get your mind off a project is extremely important to keep from getting frustrated and becoming "done" with something. I experience this very often in my dealings at work. Weve been dealing with our SQL server having sporadic periods of failure for the past month. It makes me want to rip my brain right out of my skull, so taking a break from it, working on other unrelated things and getting your mind off the main task helps immensely.

I wonder if you are even old enough to truly relate to this...

Mhm, like Mojang had to take 8 WEEKS total break in a whole YEAR. That's approximately 15% of the year just vacationing. How does one think that they need that much time to "recover" their brain energy?

I personally think it is ridiculous for you guys to think that taking a 3 week and 5 week vacation is an excuse for the total time to be reduced to 7 months. What type of company goes on a vacation for that long?

posted a message on Anyone else feel like Notch leaving the team ruined Minecraft?
Just look at it then and now. Back then it was challenging survival, we had great terrain with many mountains and it was so much more natural. Now, we have disgusting yellow/turqoise grass, flat biome-based terrain, and an OP enchanting system in which you could become invincible in a couple weeks. It's just way too easy now and not as exciting. I know it was Notch who coded Beta 1.8, but it's not like he couldn't have gotten Minecraft out of that horrible state.

Keep in mind that I started in 2012, not 2010. But I know what it was like back then.

EDIT: and don't say that I'm not happy with anything Mojang does. Cause I feel like they did a great job with managing Alpha and Beta. I won't go back to those versions because I'll be missing on the new content and not all new content is bad. But a lot of it is.

Stop living in the past. Games have to update. How would you like it if we were still in BETA from 3 years ago. No wolves, nether, alot more blocks and the old inventory.

Also it is his working and his money. I feel like most people are jealous or ignorant. There are much more richer people who spent their money in worse ways.

God damnit when did I imply that I wanted to be back in the Beta stages? I'm just saying that Notch could have kept on working on it to prevent it from being ruined. I guess it's a matter of opinion but I feel like Minecraft started going downhill after he left; and I'm not a nostalgic fool since I didn't start in Beta. Anyways that's off topic to my point. Now I know that it is hard to maintain a popular game or program every single day, but Notch just COMPLETELY quit. I wouldn't mind if he only worked on it every few weeks. But no, he COMPLETELY QUIT and never came back to even make suggestions to the rest of the Minecraft team. At the current state, Notch has absolutely no right to use up 40% of the received money for his personal wants when he only worked on Minecraft for half of the time as the rest of the team.

    For me they're not unnoticeable.

Fine, I'll admit that they're not completely unnoticeable, but most of the changes in the update are little and petty enough that I have no problem with only playing on 1.7 whether or not there is lag on 1.8.

1.7.2 affected "noticeable" gameplay 3 times as much as 1.8 did. No doubt about that! Even 1.4.2 and many other updates that took a shorter time added a lot more useful things.

And what type of company takes a 5 week break and 3 week break out of developing their game? LAZY. It doesn't take more than a month to regenerate your brain.

posted a message on WHERE in the rules does it say that I'm not allowed to tell someone that they are reported?
Well why have I seen so many people tell someone else that he was reported and their post doesn't even get deleted? One time someone even said that to me.

I wouldn't frickin react to someone that told me that I was reported. I wasn't provoking at all.

    Quote from KioriBug»
A rules reminder doesn't effect your account negatively. We cannot remove warnings on an account as it's used as a record. We can add private notes to them. If you feel the reminder was wrong, try responding to the message and discussing it with the moderator that issued it.

It does affect my account negatively. It means that if I, um, happen to accidentally break the rule again then the level of the warning will escalate. And my reminder was completely unfair no doubt.

Mojang purposely tried to make that list very long to make it look like they did a lot of work. You will see that they take up a lot of space just explaining the usage of the commands or such. Most of those changes are unnoticeable.

Someone posted something on that a while ago:

I don't think he ever came back, but maintaining a huge super-popular game just isn't what Notch wanted. (I'd probably sell it for 2.5 billion too if I had the chance. It's just too much stress.) When he made Minecraft, it was just for fun. He never meant it to be as popular as it is now.

Now, I don't really expect him to put his whole mind into the game and go all out to keep it super popular. I'm just upset that he just completely quit. I wouldn't mind if he only worked on the game once every few weeks or so, but him just quitting forever and not even making suggestions to the rest of the team is purely unacceptable.

So we can moderate correctly, if we didn't have the moderator tools we have we would just be members and couldn't moderate

Tell me how seeing if a user is banned can help the job of moderation, besides letting you know that you don't need to give a user an infraction because he's already permabanned

Why should regular moderators have the ability to see this when ordinary users cannot?
