    If I was halfway decent at Java, I'd help out.

    There are ways you can help out if you don't know Java coding! Suggestions on Lands and Land generation, weapons, items, blocks, mobs... All of that is needed just as much as people to actually code it!

    unfortunately im having problems pushing the main mod code to the github from my desktop workspace so this may take longer than i thought im sorry

    I will get it up one of these days. Today just may not be that day.

    EDIT: Okay, so I did some poking around in my workspace, and hopefully figured out the problem of why I can't push GitHub commits from my workspace: both the GitHub repository and Eclipse were set up in the wrong folder. GitHub was set up in the actual workspace folder, and Eclipse was somehow set up in the Forge SRC folder. Don't know how I messed that up.

    So now I'm correcting the problem, even though it might mean that I have to redo the code, but hey, it should be on the GitHub by later today. That's progress!

    EDIT 2: Alright, I think I successfully pushed the main code to the GitHub. If anyone who's a whizz at coding happens to notice any errors in the code, kindly let me know and then instruct me on how to fix them.

    Please don't let this die.

    I won't, don't worry.

    I'm just having some coding trouble on top of having a lot of work needing to be done around the house, so I haven't been able to get anything productive done (unless you count coding and deleting the same bits over and over again productive). It's basically nothing more than the main mod components (main class, proxies, reference class, and helper classes) right now.

    I should be able to push the main components to the GitHub soon, so eventually I won't be the only one coding this.

    I could really use some help with this, because doing it on my own is bearing no fruit whatsoever.

    And I've basically only had Sunconure volunteer to help with mob models (which is greatly appreciated, since Techne doesn't compute with my computer yet), so any help at all is great to have.

    I was also expecting 1.9 to have been released by now and was hoping to code the mod for 1.9 instead once a stable Forge version was released, but that plan's pretty much gone down the toilet, so 1.8 it is for now.

    In other words, it's not dead, it's just going very slowly.

    posted a message on [1.9 is out!] Get ready for 1.9! [Updates and Information from Mojang AB!]

    Everyone here is arguing and I'm just sitting here with a bucket of popcorn laughing at all these people who are complaining about features that I personally think are awesome, whilst waiting for 1.9 screenshots.

    What I'm most excited about are the changes to The End; bros, sign me up. I can never get enough of things to explore.

    But seriously, if you're going to complain, there are dozens of threads for that already. I understand that we all have our own opinions, but all this complaining is starting to become spam (like the college stuff I get in the mail on a near-daily basis, most of it from the same colleges over and over again, just like multitudes of complaint threads all about the same feature). Those of us casual, oh, mojang's adding new stuff? let's see what we can do with this feature here gamers are really getting sick of the complaining. It doesn't matter what it is, someone out there appreciates the work the Mojang staff is putting into this game to appeal to everyone and not just those who are loudest about what they do and don't want.

    You guys have to understand, they are not obligated to make these kinds of changes. They are not obligated to make this game appeal to everyone. They are not obligated to make older versions available to people who don't like the new features they add. They are not obligated to slave over computer monitors and keyboards for possibly hours a day trying to please everyone. They're not even obligated to update the game. (Not saying they're not getting paid to do all of this, but they still have free will and don't have to if they decide they don't want to.) Every time I see someone complaining it makes me think that they don't fully appreciate all the work Mojang is doing. You want to know what you can do instead of complain? Find a way to make these new features appeal to you. Think of a fun way you can use them. Make your base out of the new structures in The End, or use the new blocks to build the strangest or most eye-candy fortress you can. Tame an entire army of dogs or cats in minutes with dual-wielding. See how many enchantments you can put on arrows and go snipe some monsters with them. The possibilities, just like Minecraft itself, are endless. Find a way to accept it, or if you don't like it, just play an older version.

    And guys, are you all really arguing about what the next update should be called? That's immaturity at its finest. Mojang will call it what they want to call it.

    (But I will say that 2.0, 3.0, etc., implies that they started from scratch and rewrote everything, not just made changes.)

    But that's just my two cents.

    Thank you Dracodragon :)

    transcendantal, just put the file named "§9Across The Time§6 - v2.0 ENG §4" into your save folder.

    That's what I did, as already stated, and it still won't show up when I launch Minecraft.

    EDIT: Never mind, it's working now.

    Hate to be a bother, but I can't actually play this map at all?

    I've popped it into my Saves folder, and I'm playing 1.8.7, but it isn't showing up at all...

    posted a message on Minecraft isn't the same anymore...

    There's a simple solution to your problem: just play the earlier versions instead of complaining.

    Minecraft is no different from any other game. Games are in a constant state of evolution. Think of Pokemon. Pokemon still has the same basic mechanics, catching and training Pokemon, but the worlds have changed, the Pokemon available to capture have changed, plots have changed (with Black and White so far having earned my complete respect by directly involving the player in the plot line, instead of having a random rookie Trainer combating an organization and just happening to encounter a Legendary Pokemon along the way). And Pokemon is still adding new features and is continuing to amass and maintain its fanbase. I enjoy the original games, before Pokemon began adding dozens of new features, but it's primarily nostalgic and I still greatly enjoy the newer games. Kirby, Mario, Sonic, Legend of Zelda... All of these games have amassed and maintained extremely large fanbases over the near twenty years they've existed, and the fact that Minecraft has amassed an equally-large (if not more so) fanbase in less than half that time is a huge deal. Minecraft will continue to add new features, because it doesn't matter what it is, someone out there will enjoy it (I personally like all of the features being added in 1.9 and don't get why everyone is complaining about dual-wielding, mostly because I've never had any interest in minigames which they claim dual-wielding is ruining the point of), and those who don't like it just have to deal with it. At least Minecraft has left all past versions of the game available for anyone and everyone to play at any time, unlike games for systems such as the Xbox which, when updated, don't allow you to go back to previous versions, and many people can't play the game without having updated it first, whether they actually want to or not (or, at least, this is the case with us; I'm not sure how it works for other people).

    Minecraft will continue updating with new features to appeal to all sorts of players, not just those who are the loudest about what they want and don't want or like and don't like unless those people turn out to be a very large percentage of the fanbase. If you don't like it, just play the older versions and stop complaining. It's redundant and unneeded to complain about something numerous people are already complaining about when the solution is as simple as it is.

    I'm not trying to sound rude; I'm just stating how it is.

    Alright, first things first: I haven't gotten any coding done in the past week and that's entirely my fault for having ADD and being so easily distracted by other things, primarily senior pictures in just a few hours, required summer reading, and (even more) studying for the ACT (which I had to take again for the writing test regardless of my score on the last one anyway).

    (In fact, there is practically no code at all aside from the main class and reference classes and proxies and helpers and one or two items.)

    Number two: With the release of 1.9 drawing ever nearer (perhaps in the next week or so?) I've been considering perhaps waiting for a stable Forge version of 1.9 to be released and coding Skaiacraft for 1.9 instead, especially since the new update is supposed to make it a bit easier on mod coders. I'm still debating that one, because there's no telling when a stable 1.9 Forge version will be released, even though I'll have to update all the code anyway if I decide to go ahead with coding for 1.8 (which, in my terms, pretty much means erasing the code and starting from scratch, even though there are easier methods of updating the code. No one ever said I was practical).

    I don't know, I'm still debating this.

    Maybe I ought to put a poll up, see what you guys think.

    Since the lusii are the caretakers of the trolls, how do you plan on implementing them? Maybe they could be random spawns in the overworld, since in the alpha session, they were on Jake's island.

    I said up under the Mobs section of the first post that they will be implemented as random spawns in the Overworld. All can be tamed (given they don't try to kill you first), and some types (such as dragon lusii) will be able to be saddled and ridden. Some, such as Gl'bogolyb, will only spawn once per world, and some types of lusii will be more common for some blood colors than others, just like Homestuck canon.

    Finally, we can be dragon riders.

    Heck yes.

    Other Overworld spawns will include First Guardians, of which only one will spawn per world.

    If there will be other Overworld spawns, I have no clue.

    I am happy to say that despite battling errors in Eclipse that are actually caused by bugs in Eclipse that haven't been fixed yet for whatever reason, coding is now officially under way.

    I've managed to get a couple items coded, but haven't committed anything to GitHub or actually tested the mod yet to see if it's working properly.

    It may be a while before any commits are added, but rest assured that coding is finally taking place.

    I'm just as happy as the rest of you.

    I keep getting errors in the Reference Class when I try to set up the main Class.

    They all say, "Syntax error on tokens, delete these tokens," with the errors on the last line saying, "Syntax error, insert ';' to complete FieldDeclaration" and "insert '}' to complete ClassBody."

    I don't know what any of it is talking about, because right now my Reference Class looks like this:

    package com.github.transcendentalgrimalkin.help;

    public class Reference

    {

    public static final String MODID = "skaiacraft";

    public static final String NAME = "Skaiacraft";

    public static final String VERSION = "0.0.1";

    }

    Am I doing something wrong?

    EDIT: Never mind, I somehow managed to fix the errors myself.

    Still not sure how I did it, but hey, as long as it's done.

    There may be some delays in development as I enter a chess match with document packaging, as well as the ACT tomorrow, but you all knew about that already.

    I should have it done soon, but there is a chance it may not be done by Sunday, which is when I'd like to begin honest development.

    Don't worry; this is a chess match I intend to emerge victorious from.

    It just may take a while because I'll likely be trying to sleep as much as I can tomorrow.

    Taking the ACT soon-to-be-six times is five times too many.

    (I say five because unfortunately one of those soon-to-be-six tests was mandatory.)

    Alright, I tried it again, and Gradle seems to have finally started installing.

    Or at least I've properly installed the Forge src and can create the Eclipse workspace now.

    Don't know what went wrong before...

    Oh well; as long as the problem is resolved.

    Alright, I've found a beginner's modding tutorial that doesn't include Gradle, so I'm going with that one instead (since I can't figure out at all what's wrong with Gradle and why it won't install), since it uses GitHub and the Eclipse workspace is optional.

    I've just started out with these tutorials, and even though I have GitHub, the Forge src, Eclipse, and JDK downloaded and installed, when I try to clone the repository into my workspace folder it says I need the command line tools for GitHub to work.

    I've downloaded them twice now and it still isn't working.

    Do you know of any solutions?

    Alright, so I'm a beginner when it comes to coding, but that isn't stopping me from trying to code mods and learn as I go.

    I already have the Forge src, Eclipse, and JDK installed.

    But for whatever reason Gradle won't install correctly.

    That, or Terminal just hates me.

    Any decent, detailed guides on installing Gradle?

    I've tried this one, but it isn't helping in the slightest.
