posted a message on Hard community survival. Looking for players
I'm 14, my IGN is toons475, and I like playing on simple survival servers, which is an experience only Realms Servers can offer. Since you are also near my age I guess we could talk about guy stuff. Or not, that's cool too. I can put up good conversation when it gets quiet and I'm a decent builder. I'm a nitpicking perfectionist and I thrive for efficiency when I'm not lazy. I usually stay away from main areas, but since the Nether Portal will be at spawn I guess I'll break through my comfort zone.

    Age: 14

    A little information about yourself:

I'm the all around guy who does anything really. I stay to myself and I like Servers only because you can converse as you build so it's not as boring or lonely as in SSP. However on Servers there are always complicated rules and plugins n' things - so Realms is my provider when it comes to having a nice place to play as well as socialize. I can put up intelligent conversations (which is apparently quite surprising as I'm 14) or just nod and shake my head. It takes me a bit to set up as I'm a perfectionist... but I try to be as helpful as possible when I'm settled and comfortable.

Age: 14, definitely not an adult - by age. I would call myself mature, but I'd be tooting my own horn.

What kind of minecrafter are you? What do you like most about Minecraft?I like building and making fancy stuff and just all around expanding my horizon on a constant, learning new building tricks and redstone wiring. I usually build far from crowded areas and I tend not to bother anybody unless I ask for something like the occasional potato and carrot to start the farms. I mostly mine and stay in the caves and I like acting as the tradesman who gives ores for food/materials.

Here's an album of some World Edit work, I'm rusty on building, sorry.

Personally, graphics heavily influence if I buy a game or not. Saying that in GTA V "You can walk, that's it" is one of the falsest of false statements I have ever heard regarding video games, and it's obvious you've never played it.

That's not what I said, I think you skipped a few words. I said, people would prefer a game with GTA V graphics where you can only walk, over an old Mario game. Not that you can only walk in GTA V.

Why would you even care about what being a "true gamer" means? Who cares if somebody doesn't like the games that you like?

What? Why? Dear lord, man, don't take video games so seriously.

I tried to make a play on words, meh, now that I think about it it seems as if I was too serious, I'll edit it out.

    That's the thing
I wouldn't consider you a gamer if you just stick with one company (most of the time)...
You should expand and try new games of different genre.

I do play other games, I go over to a friend's and play Xbox once in a while. It's just Nintendo Games are what I most commonly get (Zelda Zelda Zelda).

I still have that old Pokemon LeafGreen that I play, as well as Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy from the Wii... never got bored of those three.

I don't know what it is, I'm fine with super-old pixelated graphics (whatever it's called) , or super-new graphics such as in BF4 or something, but I just can't stand the part in the middle - no idea how to explain it.

And I see that you're kinda fanboying out on Nintendo. I can't say much because I've only played PC games for my entire life, not too many consoles. (except Wii and GBA)

I completely disagree with your opinions of a "true gamer" . A true gamer is simply someone who plays video games, not someone who obsesses over them and takes them to the roots. And you're kinda judging the judgers here, or hating the haters, but sometimes you just get angry - it's uncalled for when someone just randomly says that a game is "gay without guns." This was the attitude back in 6th grade, and everyone quickly got over it, and hopefully it does where you are, too, or you'll be stuck in the middle of immature kids.

Now, back to graphics. I feel that graphics is (now) an important part of the game, not as important as gameplay itself, but something that should be worked on. For old games, they were limited by hardware, so we can't say they had bad graphics because the devs didn't work on it. In newer games, we DO have the hardware able to run software with far superior graphics compared to those days, and it's nice when it is actually used. When playing Crysis 2, I enjoyed the story, and also kept marveling at the graphics, compared to TF2, which doesn't have much of a story, and not-so-great graphics.

Graphics should make the product look high-quality. This doesn't mean that you have to have Crysis 3/BF4 level graphics (sorry, I have nothing else to compare to) in the game, but it just should look nice.

Now, let us compare the Wii with the PS3. I don't know much about the PS3, as I don't have one, but the one major difference is that the PS3 plays at 1080p, while the Wii is stuck at 480p, a vastly inferior resolution, while full HD was available when the Wii was released too. The Wii also had inferior internal hardware. (although that's kinda good because I can emulate it) The PS3 actually has some built-in community support, although it has failed in the past, but it is much better than the Wii's support, which was quite cryptic to set up.

And to your point about buying games because others like them. I do buy a few games because my friends recommend them and show me the gameplay. If I don't like a game, I won't get it. (aside from the Humble Origin Bundle, where I got a whole bunch of games, most if which I don't play, for $5) I really haven't bought a single game for more than $20, looking back. I think games like Pokemon, or the classics, are kinda like Avatar: The Last Airbender. (anyone agree with me on this?) I've watched it quite a few times, and for some reason everyone I know that watched it likes it.

I don't know much about the Wii U, but my friend has one, and he's getting the new Smash Bros., so looking forward to playing that. I don't have the hardware required to play X/Y, so I can't play them. (and I don't know too much about Pokemon either - I still haven't finished my LeafGreen yet)

I do agree with some of your points - don't judge a book by its cover, don't play just for graphics or because your friends like it, but your opinions of the "average" and "true" gamers are kinda off.

Sorry for the messy structure of the post - I just slapped it together.

Now that I think about it, you're right. Oh, and thanks for actually taking the time to do a mature and nice reply to this!

My opinion on graphics is that they don't have to look realistic. They just have to fit the game. The cartoony graphics fit Team Fortress 2. 8-bit graphics fit Minecraft and Terraria. The realism graphics work with Call of Duty, Battlefield, and games like that. It all just depends, there are no real specifications for "good" graphics.

That's a way to think about it I never thought of...

    I laughed at this.
    1. Have you played any old games? By this, I don't mean games that came out in 2005, I mean games for the NES, SNES, GB Color, and Sega Genesis. A true gamer has gone to the roots of gaming.
Are you serious? This is just stupid...
    I don't even...
This makes a you "True" gamer?

I told you the list of things of what I consider a gamer. It's opinionated. I didn't exactly mean that you were a true gamer if you could check off everything, though it may sound like it (apologies on my part if it did, I'm not the best at phrasing words). I was trying to say that a gamer should be open to everything, and not hate on something specific without any of their own proof (I mean, don't they have floor items that are playable so you can make your own opinion?).I personally stick with Nintendo, but I still play other games, like Halo, MW, Black Ops, GTA, Forza, etc.By going to the roots, to me, it just means you actually took the time to see the originals of the past.

I still play old video games, but honestly you're missing out on some gaming aspects.

What do you mean? If you're talking about First-Person shooters, I play those too. What I meant to say is how people judge games in a really unfair way, I'm not trying to say Xbox and Playstation are bad, but I'm saying that the people who play Xbox and Playstation are (usually) ignorant to other platforms/consoles

What is up guys? Yes that's right the sky, and now I'm going to go on a rant about your Average Modern Xbox/Playstation fanboy. I will be splitting this up into a few sections on why I despise them, if you have a good counterarguement, please post it. If you're just going to whine at me, don't post, I want mature replies please.

    How they judge a game:
Honestly, I hate it how these kids judge games. What they consider a good game is a game with graphics. I have seen SO MANY of these kids say they want to buy a new game, because it has "better graphics". No other reasons provided. I took a survey around my school, and most kids preferred to have a game with GTA 5 graphics (where you can just walk, that's it) over an old Mario Game with an enhanced story line. It amazes me! How do you only play a game because of it's graphics? I base my opinions on games through gameplay, originality, and fun.

Hating on Nintendo, for what good reason?
Why do people hate on Nintendo so much? I don't understand, it's just as good as a company as Microsoft or Sony! In fact, Microsoft and Sony have both taken a few small ideas from Nintendo and implemented them into their products! I ask the kids at my school why they hate Nintendo, and they replied with "The Graphics Suck!", at that point I was ready to shoot myself in the foot. I'm not even going into how I think of that, because the above section explains how I feel about the "Graphics Only Gamers". So, I continue to tell them that the the new WII U is an HD console, and they say that that sucks too. I ask them why, and there was no reply. Every person I asked, had no good reason for hating on the WII U. So I say to myself, they complain about graphics, but if you make the graphics better, they still complain over nothing. I think I've come to the conclusion that it's just a mainstream thing to hate on Nintendo.

Apparently It's a "Gay" game if it has no Guns!
Apologies on the use of the word Gay, but that's what I was told. I was talking about the new Pokemon X and Y coming out with one of my friends during P.E. and a kid walked up to us both and called us gay, along with the games we played. I asked him why he called Pokemon gay (I didnt care that he insulted me, because I get that a lot for being a Nintendo Fan) and he said, it's because "It doesn't have guns".

What I personally Consider a Gamer
There are not many people I consider to be actual Hardcore/Dedicated gamers. I have a decent amount of requirements for somebody to be called a true gamer, and even I don't meet all of the requirements. Here's a list:
    1. Why do you buy a game? If you buy a game because everyone talks about it, you're not a gamer, and don't lie to yourself saying that you like it, remember, a liar only cheats himself
    2. Why do you play a game? Is it because a friend plays, or are you personally interested in the Game/Series? For this, either one is OK, but remember, it has to be enjoyable.
    3. Have you played any old games? By this, I don't mean games that came out in 2005, I mean games for the NES, SNES, GB Color, and Sega Genesis. A true gamer has gone to the roots of gaming.
    4. Do you judge a game before or after you play it? If you judge a game before you play it, you are not a gamer in my opinion. A gamer should only critique on personal experience, not what others say.
    5. Do you still play games from your childhood, or the series of the games you played? If yes, you are great, even it's randomly. I still play Mario, Sonic, and Pokemon!
    6. What are you open to? If you only play one platform, genre, or even series, I can't consider you a gamer. I understand people have preferences, but don't judge a book by it's cover, or in this game, a disc by it's box!
I hope this was no irritating to everyone, and that some people may actually agree. Remember, this is all opinionated. Some peopel share my opinion, and others may not. If you want my opinion on a specific game, ask me. If I haven't played that game, I'll tell you I haven't but I'll watch something about it and tell you what I think from a third-person perspective. And also, please only post professional and respetful replies, I don't want a ton of people spamming "You suck", because remember, this is my opinion!

(Side Note: Anyone else happy about the new Smash Bros. and X/Y?)
