I hate to be lumped in with all the 'complainers' about 1.7, but I have to agree.

There is a very, in a word, eerie feeling about the new update. It somehow doesn't feel like Minecraft to me. The new flowers don't look very good - the textures bother me to no end, and the replacement of the Rose is killing me. The new biomes feel too rugged, and not very livable. They don't feel realistic, and too unneeded.

Not to hate on Mojang, I just don't see a very big need for a lot of the features in 13w36a/b.

I get similar feelings. The new biomes (Dark Forest (Dense Forest) aside) just seem too... different due to color weirdness... The new flowers look fine, but they almost look too good... However, Cliffs and the new oceans will be awesome once they work right, and the Savannah would be fine if it was just a tiny bit more green. The elevation changes aren't bad either, they'll just make airship mods a lot more fun.

I think that this may be one of the things giving me a weird feeling about this snapshot... As much as I normally hate the people who say this, it's really starting not to feel like Minecraft any more... (Not just because of the Rose being gone. Savannah colors, fancier flower textures for the new flowers...)

Actually, it's a cross section of amplified terrain as seen by way of chunk border... It may not be the Far Lands by any means, nor really resemble them, but it's still interesting to look at.

Awesome, but it needs to be in some kind of special ocean feature that's EXTREMELY deep, otherwise it's kind of double-overpowered in that we now have water breathing potions, plus the rooms have lava, and glow, and thus are more easily visible and a LOT easier to find than the normal portal room variety. And if this is Mojang's idea of an ocean temple, then they're really lazy, unless of course it's just a placeholder.

This whole thing is just... awesome. They finally dealt with the ridiculous patch oceans, reintroduced gravel to the overworld surface, and added more good biomes. But I still feel that a few things are wrong...

-A unique Mob or two, at least for the Savanna, seems almost obligatory for an update like this.
-These maps need real continents, real islands, and real oceans. And no, they don't all need to be titanic continents or oceans, the shapes just need to be more realistic.
-Many, MANY less unusual-colored sheep... They're supposed to be more of an Easter egg, not a common mob, and the commonness of pink, dark gray, and black sheep kind of ruins their point.
-Less ugliness in terrain gen. Most of the screenshots I've seen were pretty, but pretty much ruined by some odd cave entrance, patch of stone or snow, or lavafall. All of those things need to become less common - discovering a cave entrance should be cool, not something that happens constantly, and cliffs should be unique and cool-looking, not weird ugly patches of gray mixed in with everything. And I'm still waiting for "real" Mountains...
-Remove the Junk and Treasure system. The new fish are a great idea, but Junk and Treasure are just silly... in a way that's detrimental to the game.

Cubic Chunks, Skylands as a dimension, tameable Dragons, or the missing potions. IMO, besides what's already being addressed in 1.7, those are the only major things that are missing from the game... (besides Sharks and better Squid spawning and AI, but meh.)

    They are not interesting.
Their improving mapmaking, but not survival! Weird!

1 guy made a giant mod in 48 hours. Yes, it added tons of content.
What these do in 2 months?
    Nothing useful.
Dragons and pandas ARE confirmed future updates, but we will not get them

    BIGGEST UPDATE AFTER ADVENTURE UPDATE?
    Yeah, new particles and sunflowers!
    Let's applause!

*FACEPALM* TERRAIN UPDATE. Extreme Hills updates, snow at mountain heights in cold Biomes, Redwood Forests and a rocky Biome, along with possibly randomized Biome characteristics and other things we know nothing about... New flowers are just a cute little touch... and I'm not opposed to them at all. It's not like they're going to be a full update. The Flower Update? lol. Also, The F3 HUD is there for debugging, and not part of the real game experience at all.

    Quote from XDGrangerDX

Hah i can pull a better one. My mother seriously thought Avast Antivir Scanner would be a Virus. I discovered that she had no antivir on her pc, so i told her to install one but she refused because it could be a Virus!

    How ironic...

Haha, I once got a virus that pretended to be an antivirus program and it even has a download page online... I guess her fears weren't totally nonsensical. :P

posted a message on If you could, which biome would you add to Minecraft
    Quote from seventonblade

Due to the way Minecraft's engine works, I've discovered that there is a big problem with trying to add underwater coral. And the reason is this: Anything that is not considered an entity, mainly including mobs and dropped items, is a block, and that includes everything from grass to what we like to call blocks in Minecraft. How a "block" works in Minecraft is it takes up a space (or 2, in the case of beds or doors) in the world's "grid", should I say. Water happens to be one of those blocks (and even air has an object ID for some strange reason, probably because of lighting reasons). It's for this reason why water (and lava too) doesn't flow through thin blocks such as signs or fence posts, because as blocks, they already take up a full, one-block space at those specific coordinates on the grid, preventing flowing water, which has another ID, from having that same space. The only block that is created or destroyed automatically by every other block is air.

TL:DR; If corals were implemented as blocks, what you would see are gigantic air pockets surrounding the corals, which would be ugly and unimmersive; all simply because of a problem with Minecraft's engine.

Um, you could always make the coral blocks' model include a water source-looking block that blends with the rest of the sea... right?

Underground biomes (Crystal caves, normal caves, giant caverns, etc.), Savannah, or some sort of Skylands (Perhaps a literal Sky Biome.), although I think Skylands should be a different dimension.

    What is "Zombie Reinforcement"?

Reminds me of MMOs. I swear, by 1.10 or so with a good server box(s), a giant custom map, and a really big custom plugin one will be able to create a full-fledged MMO in Minecraft.

i dont like the new lapus block, the old one was so nice! But the coloured clay is a good change from the overused wool blocks in pixel art

Yeah, the old one was a far better building material visually. I guess it's been demoted to the position of "sandstone building accent"/"blue tile floor material".

posted a message on Story Mode
The bears and dragon's caves weren't a great example of things to have in Story Mode, as they're things many players want for Survival. Also, the village shouldn't be a special one, it should just be a regular village with a fence around it with a gate. Some other villages should be this way, others shouldn't be, and it should be that way in all modes. The only thing that would change in the story mode (map type really) is the Villagers giving quests and houses and whatnot, and the existence of more bosses. Also, Story "Mode" as you describe it would really be a different map type (Heck, practically a whole different game built on the same engine.) than just a game mode.
