Sorry that no one has told you this yet. Beyond a few megabytes of difference, you cannot really shrink a video without outputting it into a compressed format. Videos are big. The only real way to shrink them is to have less quality.
I am quite good at Tekkit, evidently (per random people) I am humorous, and I have a server that can be blocked off for periods of recording. (I am much less formal in videos than in writing). I have been playing Minecraft since Beta 1.1, and have been playing Tekkit since it started. I have Skype and a professional microphone, plus a powerful gaming computer that runs 128x packs in Tekkit with no problems.
Please consider this, as I would love something that I made as editing material! It also sounds like quite a bit of fun.

To me a fully functional vending machine is just the dispenser block...
I agree, though at times it is useful to have multiple options and make it look good, have a good "UI", etc. I have actually designed a vending machine with five dispensation options, a service hall, and a completely hidden redstone/dispenser mechanism. I have extensively tested it, and it has no bugs, contrary to most minecart-based machines, which also require a button to designate what track to return the cart to, require a lot of room, and if damaged by griefer or creeper, take a very long time to repair. Overall, pretty much any minecart-based vending machine is terribly outdated and inefficient compared to dispensers, which is one of the reasons that Notch made them (The name is proof). Sorry, but your "badass vending machine" stinks. But, if you didn't focus on outdated concepts, you seem like you could be pretty good with redstone. for the effort.
If you want a wall for defense/looks, I have a nearly impenetrable one for you!
On the outer layer, put whatever you think looks good. Going in one layer closer to your city, put sand. Two layers of it. (You can combine or replace it with gravel, but then foes will get flint for arrows when they break through.) Put 1 layer of dirt or cobblestone next. Then, put two layers of lava down by putting the source on the top of the wall in between the dirt/cobblestone and the two layers (Optional, but it gives you 60-200 seconds to respond to the breach) of obsidian. You can skip this if it's too expensive, though. Finally, put the same outer layer block as your inside/top layers, and you're done! For added security, (And more awesome looks), make the wall as high as the game allows, and put a line of sand right behind the innermost layer of the wall, reaching to bedrock. The height of the wall forces the intruders to go through the wall instead of over it. The extra sand will fall if someone tries to tunnel under the wall, allowing you to react before they do any damage.
Disclaimer: This wall was designed for maximum protection, with a small nod to aesthetics. If you want more protection and forewarning of attack, PM me and I will send you much more detailed schematics.

How long have you played minecraft?: 5 months now, bought game 4 months ago.
Play style: I use redstone traps a lot against griefers or in war, very good at designing bunkers and war buildings. Good with farm designs too.
Ventrilo: Have a mic, will most definitely use.
Donations: I will probably donate after I see that it's a good server.
Key phrase: Outta my way before I blow you up!

I am good at designing redstone traps and locks and building secret rooms. I also have several good trap and farm designs.
