Aug 17, 2013tickleme_elfman posted a message on Mineways: 3D Prints of Minecraft ObjectsOK I am stuck, I am trying to get Mineways 2.22 exporting half slabs on a mac. I need it to be in an stl file and each full block to be 1mm. I have tried every combination of tick boxes under the sun and cannot seem to make any progress it consistently outputs the half slabs at 1mm high. Suggestions anyone?Posted in: News

Vechs, as you say this map is not for everyone, but I am really enjoying the openness of it. All of your other maps are scary, this one seems nicer. Until of course you notice the hardcore under the world name in Minecraft. Great work, as always and I should have mentioned it before, but I too am thankful for the time and effort you put into creating worlds that make the Minecraft experience different. Especially this one, as this is the first one I havent died in the first 5-10 minutes. Turns out the hardcore makes me much more careful. Thanks again. Keep it up, your work is awesome.

Thanks, does it get delivered to my home, or do I need to collect it.

Agreed, I really wanted to see someone else play through as well. The map, I have only explored a very little bit as I have only played about 45 mins but it does seem very large. I have managed not to die, that won't last long though and have also managed a measly 1 wool. Good luck, once I complete or give up on this map I will surely be watching your play through.

I just recorded my first episode, I too am a new commentator and not that great at it, but you only get better with practice. Unfortunately I cannot watch your playthrough, and you will not want to watch mine, as I too am playing variant c, just because that was the one I clicked download. Ah nuts.

I imagine so, Vechs rarely does things by accident. :s

Stupid question, I just downloaded no worries, but are you behind a proxy or something that could be preventing you from reaching the download site? I have an idea that perhaps your browser settings are your issue. Hope you can get it downloaded soon.

Thanks heaps for the feedback, I will work on putting the links to the tutorials in the video. The main problem is I have 2 channels, one for more MinecraftEdu 'stuff' and one for personal use, that I mostly use for keeping track of my subscriptions and watching their vids, I might have to stop trying to keep them separate.

I am a teacher of 13-18 year olds, I am actually using it my class to teach the students things. Mostly quick custom maps that teach them something specific. But yes I do run a minecraft club at lunchtimes as well. If you check out my youtube channel EduElfie you will see some classes where I have used MinecraftEdu with students to teach them how neurotransmitters work and to perform an experiment. Here are some links.
Neurotransmitter:
Reaction times experiment:
Both of these lessons have pros and cons, but on the whole I think using Minecraft as a virtual world to involve students in a different learning experience is a great idea.

Way to go supporting other members of the Minecraft community. My favorite part is "stop wasting students' time and let them learn actual useful real-life things."
If you have nothing constructive to add in regards to things that can be taught by an 8th grader to other students in Minecraft don't flame them for asking. Leave them be.

I would recommend using the inbuilt tutorial world for teaching them how to play minecraft, and then if you wanted you could get them to create their own, everyone I have spoken to that uses that world to introduce it thinks it works very well.
My blog http://minecrafteduelfie.blogspot.com.au/ also has some ideas as I am a teacher using the edu mod in my classes.
I would also try something along the lines of 'survival island' to get some teamwork happening, or group builds of something that they are learning in other classes.
Hope that helps some.
Elfie.

My other channel (EduElfie) has the tutorial, at least my attempt, on how to create it. Hope you enjoy.
Let me know if you think it is worth it either here or in the comments on the video.
