You're welcome! I guess if at least a few people like it, then it was worth doing...

Vechs, as you say this map is not for everyone, but I am really enjoying the openness of it. All of your other maps are scary, this one seems nicer. Until of course you notice the hardcore under the world name in Minecraft. Great work, as always and I should have mentioned it before, but I too am thankful for the time and effort you put into creating worlds that make the Minecraft experience different. Especially this one, as this is the first one I havent died in the first 5-10 minutes. Turns out the hardcore makes me much more careful. Thanks again. Keep it up, your work is awesome.

Thanks for the advice, I do agree that the forum part was not needed, it just felt right for me at the time because it has multiple variations of the map, and editing will be done, do not worry. The giving the video an ending part is something I need to work with, because I like to keep the videos under 15 minutes, and I record long sessions. So because I had a bunch more to upload, I just cut it there, and kind of left it, but I have dicovered a bit of a better way to manage how it cuts though. Thanks again though, the advice helps me learn through my mistakes.

Aww, man, that sucks that we dont have different versions, cause I would love to watch someone elses playthough of this map. But I will let you know that it is very tough, and HUGE, but for all I know, you know this already. Good luck with the map though, and try not to die. XD

Agreed, I really wanted to see someone else play through as well. The map, I have only explored a very little bit as I have only played about 45 mins but it does seem very large. I have managed not to die, that won't last long though and have also managed a measly 1 wool. Good luck, once I complete or give up on this map I will surely be watching your play through.

Just a thought, I belive I have out the very first Lets Play Episode ofLethamyr, check it out: watch?v=vluPbgCjUEg&feature=plcp&context=C442a9a0VDvjVQa1PpcFM-ibXFpPtSdfLVf_ruet8rFGAP_XmcqYk=

I am playing on Variant C, due to a random number generator that was brought into play, but not filmed because I failed to think of it at the time.

And yes, I know I am not the greatest commentator in the world, but I do it for the fun, not the fame

I just recorded my first episode, I too am a new commentator and not that great at it, but you only get better with practice. Unfortunately I cannot watch your playthrough, and you will not want to watch mine, as I too am playing variant c, just because that was the one I clicked download. Ah nuts.

I imagine so, Vechs rarely does things by accident. :s

read above... not only has that already been suggested but I tried that before the suggestion was made. Im not a computer science gradutae but im also not an idiot.. I really have no idea why this isnt DLing for me. Im beggin some one at this point to just email them to me. Ive tried all day..... It doesnt make any sense why no one else is having DL issues and I have no other issues with any other type of page loads; uploads; downloads; steaming.. anything

some one please just help a brother out and email them to me

Stupid question, I just downloaded no worries, but are you behind a proxy or something that could be preventing you from reaching the download site? I have an idea that perhaps your browser settings are your issue. Hope you can get it downloaded soon.

Nicely done.. The only downside is that it would take about a month to record it the way I do my videos.. :smile.gif: Not only do I have to build stuff once, I build everything exactly the same way about 3 or 4 times. With your design, I'd likely have to build everyone 10 or more times while filming the entire time..

In your video you mention that you have other tutorials on individual parts. I would definitely recommend making links to those videos inside the video itself. It makes it easier for people to find and encourages them to check them out. Also, linking to recent videos at the end of your video doesn't hurt either. If they've made it that far, they would probably be interested in seeing more.

Thanks heaps for the feedback, I will work on putting the links to the tutorials in the video. The main problem is I have 2 channels, one for more MinecraftEdu 'stuff' and one for personal use, that I mostly use for keeping track of my subscriptions and watching their vids, I might have to stop trying to keep them separate.

As the others have said, fantastic tutorial, very clear. I did a similar project but mine was in the design of a number pad and much more complicated. With your ideas incorporated it would make mine so much easier to do. Here is the link to mine, I would really like your feedback.

@tickleme_elfman So is this more of a "club", or are you actually trying to add this to the actual school block schedule? I think that this would be a better activity for a club than an actual course.

I am a teacher of 13-18 year olds, I am actually using it my class to teach the students things. Mostly quick custom maps that teach them something specific. But yes I do run a minecraft club at lunchtimes as well. If you check out my youtube channel EduElfie you will see some classes where I have used MinecraftEdu with students to teach them how neurotransmitters work and to perform an experiment. Here are some links.

    Neurotransmitter:

    Reaction times experiment:

Both of these lessons have pros and cons, but on the whole I think using Minecraft as a virtual world to involve students in a different learning experience is a great idea.

This is stupid. All the basics for Minecraft can be learnt in less than an hour, and more complicated things like redstone only require a basic knowledge of binary electrical circuits and a quick look on the wiki. Besides; this is a game. It's like having a class to teach people Call of Duty.

tl;dr: stop wasting students' time and let them learn actual useful real-life things.

Way to go supporting other members of the Minecraft community. My favorite part is "stop wasting students' time and let them learn actual useful real-life things."

If you have nothing constructive to add in regards to things that can be taught by an 8th grader to other students in Minecraft don't flame them for asking. Leave them be.

check out http://minecraftedu.com/wiki/index.php?title=Teaching_with_MinecraftEdu or http://minecraftinschool.pbworks.com/w/page/37244189/FrontPage there are some ideas here.

I would recommend using the inbuilt tutorial world for teaching them how to play minecraft, and then if you wanted you could get them to create their own, everyone I have spoken to that uses that world to introduce it thinks it works very well.

My blog http://minecrafteduelfie.blogspot.com.au/ also has some ideas as I am a teacher using the edu mod in my classes.

I would also try something along the lines of 'survival island' to get some teamwork happening, or group builds of something that they are learning in other classes.

    Hope that helps some.
    Elfie.

Hi all, this is an idea I was creating for my MinecraftEdu classes to use and thought it might help adventure mappers create more interesting ways of rewarding players throughout their maps.

My other channel (EduElfie) has the tutorial, at least my attempt, on how to create it. Hope you enjoy.

Let me know if you think it is worth it either here or in the comments on the video.
