    How did he make the basic island generation? Looks like some sort of thing generated naturally, but I've no idea how he could've done it without using mcedit or worldedit or whatever. Sorry if this is a dupe post

    The island generation is ripped from an old (OLD OLD OLD) modded terrain generator. I picked a piece of terrain I thought would work and then swapped a bunch of blocks and added my own layers and procedural decorations. Most of the overworld and the sphere designs were done as quickly as possible so I could get to the command blocks, dungeon layouts and mechanics.

    Also (unrelated to quoted post) I have released beta version 0.1.13!

    Changlelog is here:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1urmWmQqQrHzNyjyorh_eShy_SpjfA3jVmR2tTdgB8Sc/edit?usp=sharing

    I think this version is pretty much a release candidate as I'm not getting any feedback but, having played the beta several times myself,I think it plays just about how I want it.

    What's the difference between v0.1.12 and the Jam version (besides the polishing)?

    And I wouldn't dare ask about your progress on VFIII!

    Hey, made a new map. It's in open beta currently. Give it a try, tell me what you think. You can also get the 72 hour Jam version here but, I don't recommend it.

    VF-Mini: Eventide Trance: Download NEW! For MC v1.8 - v1.8.8

    Download For MC v1.8 - v1.8.8

    About:
    Map Version: Beta v0.1.11
    Minecraft Version Compatibility: v1.8 - v1.8.8
    Players: SSP / SMP
    Map Style: Open-World
    Objectives: 3 records

    Eventide Trance was created in a 72 hour timespan* for the 7th CTM Strawberry Jam. The map is based on the idea of character progression in addition to vanilla Minecraft's gear-only progression. You must survive an open-world where you'll be able to attack strange obelisks full of enemies in order to gain permanent health upgrades. When you feel strong enough, there are 3 dungeons containing the music discs needed to complete the jukebox monument. Good luck!

    *The map has been updated for open beta since the Jam version was released.

    Thanks a lot halfstack, but Krose already helped me solve the problem. Should've said it here I guess, ah well, sorry :P Hopefully this helps me at a later date.

    NP, I used a similar system to some extent recently so it was fresh in my mind.

    Hey Three_Two, just wanted to check in and say everything is looking great. I'm sure VFIII is going to be the best one yet. In the meantime I might try my hand out at the Jam session map. I don't mind playing like superman every once and a while.

    That's great TJ! I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on it.

    I'm not sure about that, but that isn't my main problem currently. My problem is that the command doesn't actually detect and activate if the player drank the potion (yes, it's connected to a redstone clock). The previous output says "The entity UUID provided is in an invalid format". I think it's probably a problem with my syntax, but I'm not sure :/

    ## Add scoreboard objective ##

    • /scoreboard objectives add OtherObjective dummy

    ## On a 20Hz clock in order of execution (-x -> +x, -y -> +y, -z -> +z) ##

    • /scoreboard players add @a OtherObjective 1 {ActiveEffects:[{Id:water_breathing, Amplifier:2}]}
    • /execute @a[score_OtherObjective_min=1] ~ ~ ~ fill (coords of fill strip x1 y1 z1 x2 y2 z2) minecraft redstone_block 0 replace minecraft:stone 0

    ## On fill strip in order of execution (-x -> +x, -y -> +y, -z -> +z) ##

    • /scoreboard players set @a OtherObjective 0 ## you may want to remove the score later on the fill strip depending on what you want to do##
    • add whatever events need to execute
    • /fill (coords of fill strip x1 y1 z1 x2 y2 z2) minecraft:stone 0 replace minecraft:redstone_block 0

    ## the stone block on the fill strip can be any block, i just used stone for example ##

    Who wouldn't want to fight the same exact mobs over void in similar looking dungeons multiple times? That sounds wonderful.

    You've just described the majority of maps in the Super Hostile series. I got a mild tickle out of that :D

    Nomad Skull Collector's trades don't work.

    It's a bug with the skulls dropped by mobs. If you mine the custom skulls from the cobblestone walls, the trades go through. I'm working on a fix. Thanks!

    There is one part in my map where squid spawn like a flapping squidpocalypse. As a solution, I hooked a command block with these commands to a fast clock "effect @e[type:Squid] instant_damage 100 100" (minus the quotes, of course). However, the message I get in the box below that explains the outcome says "The entity UUID provided is in an invalid format" (again, minus the quotes). I don't think I set up this script wrong, but if anyone could double check, that'd be great.

    Then the only problem I'd have is a horseload of ink sacs lying around....

    /tp @e[type=Squid] ~ ~-300 ~

    Squid and ink sacs eliminated.

    Where is this map? I looked around and couldn't find it.

    It's here http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/maps/maps-discussion/2311800-strawberry-jam-v3-a-ctm-map-building-jam-jam-7?comment=794 but, I highly recommend waiting until I get an updated version out on the VF thread. The Jam version has some major balance issues as well as a few other bugs. Jam version is definitely playable but, you'll basically play as superman.

    Oooh, a new version? This is something I'll be looking forward to, along with VFIII someday ;D. I'm also considering going back and trying out the dungeons in minimal gear. I feel fairly confident I could take those dungeons on in leather/chain to be perfectly honest, maybe with a mix of Iron thrown in there.

    Interesting to see how it goes with iron armor and maybe low level enchants. I'm thinking of 86ing all the diamond ore for a mix of iron and coal with a sprinkling of gold ore. Then make it so you only get diamond gear in rare quantities in spider dens and dungeons. And the trading economy needs reworking. And the mobs need some attack buffs. ....and the 72 hour map turns into an ordeal.

    ~snipped excellent feedback~

    edit: sorry about the rant

    No need to apolagize for the "rant." The gear tier/loot seems to be the main issue with overall balance. I've got some ideas to fix that in the future but, would require rethinking every chest in the game. Something I didn't reallly have time for in the Jam version so I just gave you more than you'd ever need. I think the fact that natural regen was off made me subconsciously treat the map like it was in Hardcore mode, and I planned things out as if I wanted the player to be nearly invicible.

    I'm thinking this map would definitely play out well as part of the VF series with some tweaking. I will most likely start fixing/changing things and come up with a version for a public/open beta. Adjust things based on feedback and suggestions. Maybe make my Trello board (which is basically my todo list) public and invite beta testers to post there.

    Anyway, thanks for playing Eerie, hopefully you've got another playthrough left in you when I get a new version ready :)
