In fact, there is even reason for playing something as old as 1.2.5 !! Some mods were no longer updated after that, or changed so much that they're not as much fun anymore. I name but two of them: Equivalent Exchange and ThaumCraft. I liked them the way they were in 1.2.5.
MC 1.2.5 is now over two years behind us, and so is the last complete, stable version of EE2. And even now, EE3 is STILL not finished. And when it is, it will be not at all like the mod that I fell so deeply in love with. No criticism towards Pahimar - he is a fine fellow - but to me, EE died when he took over its development.
And I don't even know where to begin on ThaumCraft. TC2 had 6 'elements' - Air, Earth, Fire, Water, Magic and Dark - to collect. But TC4 now has well over 50 (!!) aspects, all of which you will need at some time or other, if you ever want to achieve anything... Way too much, in my opinion.
So yeah, next to my 1.7.10 installation, I still have a 1.2.5 game around
But let's get back to the topic. TiC deserves praise, and so do mDiyo and boni
I though Pahimar and Xenophobe were the original EE2 devs?
Is there a version that doesn't change world generation so that it can be added to an existing world?
Not AFAIK. But new world-gen only affects ungenerated chunks anyway. It won't mess up any existing chunks if you add the mod to an existing world, and you can access the ores, slime islands, etc. by exploring chunks generated after the mod is added.
Does somebody want to explain why I get NO new bee species when I install this? This FTB page shows the different types of bees it's supposed to add: http://ftbwiki.org/Thaumic_Bees
I noticed that there is a second set of Seared blocks and bricks which is made by smelting a block named `Slime Soil´, even through it isn´t related to slimes, and is crafted using gravel, Soul Sand and Nether Wart. I guess that it could be used to make a second structure which would allow the player to make certain alloys, which would use new materials, such as Molten Blaze, which would be obtained by getting blazes damaged by smelteries or by melting Blaze Rods/Powder, with a few of the alloys which would require it being, for example, Steel (8/10 Iron, 1/10 Coal, 1/10 Molten Blaze), or a new greenish alloy (6/10 Iron, 2/10 Copper, 2/10 Molten Blaze) which would be better than Steel, but would be more expensive, as copper is expensiver than the ubiquitious coal.
Actually, that's just the Nether smeltery. It works like a smeltery, but made from Nether materials. I think the recipe for smelting slime soil is a bug.
I tried to use tinkers together with gregtech but there seems to be a problem with the dry rack. I thought it was due to gregtech. But on the Industrial craft forum it was stated the problem was due to tinkers.
It would be nice if there was a dummy item for the randomized tool loot so it could be added to certain structure mods' loot tables without turning into rainbow garbage. Would that bearticularly difficult to do boni? I wouldn't know since I've only barely begun modding and haven't done anything relevent to dungeon loot.
The Wanderlust Reloaded modpack has this, so it must be possible.
Good idea! Fits in with the green theme, not too easy to get, but not taking ages either (like those notch apples do....) I'm taking that!
Throwing in my two cents. It should be crafted from a Yellow Heart Canister, a Ball of Moss (It repairs your heart? Well, it's green anyway.), any level of healing potion, and a Green Heart.
EDIT: Come to think of it, Necrotic Bones and Jeweled Apples aren't red, so why are we assuming Heart Canisters have to be crafted from things that are the same color?
ok quickly read through the thread and I could find what i was looking for so here it is using the latest version of this mod for 1.6.4 along side tinkers construct and i have found that the tinker construct spades wont actually make rice paddies. now im not sure if this is a growthcraft issue, tinkers construct issue or a little of both but thought to post here

Are you right-clicking a shovel on hoed dirt? That's how they're made now.

I don't think there is one, beyond editing the source code.

You get the starter bees from hives found in the world. Breed in apiaries from there on.

If you try to use Tinkers' and GregTech together, you're gonna have a hard time.

Also, bearticularly.
