He's suggesting that (When he said a player could knock them over) the blocks need to have a more sophisticated physics engine. I may be wrong about that, but we can all agree that this suggestion makes no sense.
Although I do like the pig wranglin', I do love this idea. It seems really fun to discover new breeds. Once all of these creatures are added, I can make a Zoo.
Although, I hate that I can't just craft a saddle to hop on a pig. I've only found a dungeon three times and each time I never found anything really exciting.
I've always wanted to build a shelter on a big ol' tortoise. And, with the addition of pistons, I now know that it's possible to move blocks by degrees rather than by unit.
Hah. When I read the title, I though "Hmm, it would be cool if it spawned mobs". A mob spawning mob would be pretty cool, although I am more excited about notch possibly adding zombies who are able to destroy structures.
Currently, in the source, there is an unused human character. This got me thinking about dungeons. Dungeons hint to past civilizations digging into the earth before the player began to discover. In Minecraft, I love discovering interesting, past-civilization features. This leads into my ideas for civilization. I think it would add elements to both building, mob interactions, and exploration.
Civilization:
- Procedurally generated structures and placed items (Houses, animal pens, torches, wheat fields, chests).
- NPC resource gathering (Tree cutting, hunting, farming, fishing).
- Mob fights (Between human NPCs and Mobs. Also with the player if he attacks them).
- NPC Pig riding.
- Underground Tombs and Crypts. Tombs would be a dungeon made of cobblestone with a coffin that has a zombie inside (They would appear under towns of human NPCs). Crypts would be sandstone dungeons with chests filled with gold, and also coffins. They would be much sparser than dungeons and tombs, and would only appear in the desert biome (Or maybe only in large areas of sand.
These are just ideas I'm throwing out for the use of human NPCs, although I'm sure Notch has an idea of how he's going to use them already.

That's because you can't expect to find a tree in the desert at all.

but 'm not sure how this adds to the functionality of the game. I mean, I can just get pork chops.
