Hi guys, Vechs here! I started making custom stuff for Minecraft back in 2010, and the Super Hostile series is my best-known contribution to Minecraft fans everywhere!
The main objective of my maps (aka custom Minecraft worlds) is to find and complete the Victory Monument. This is a structure with slots on it for blocks. To win a Super Hostile map, you must place each of the requested blocks in the appropriate slot on the Victory Monument. There are 16 colors of wool blocks to find, and also in older maps, the 3 material blocks, of iron, gold, and diamond.
CTM stands for Complete the Monument, which is the genre my Super Hostile series created. Unlike Adventure maps, which typically have very rigid rules and restrictions, CTM maps are about playing Minecraft in a mostly normal fashion, but with a goal to work towards.
For the most part, Super Hostile is like playing Minecraft normally, but it's more difficult and you have a long-term goal to work towards. Also you may find yourself in some unusual terrain. Oh, and the map is designed to kill you, so keep that in mind.
Going forward, Super Hostile maps made after 2020 now also require a custom modpack, which can be found here:
Currently Under Construction:
Super Hostile: Vexelvania (working title)
Latest Release:
Super Hostile: Spellbound Caves II

And lastly, here is a bunch of legal stuff. The short version is: feel free to make videos about my maps, watching people play helps me make better maps; please don't rip-off my work and claim it as your own; and please don't upload my work to other websites.
Users are free (and encouraged) to create videos of the MAPS and share the videos online, using websites such as YouTube. Users are also free to include advertisements and monetize their videos of my maps. Watching people play my maps is by far the best way for me to learn how to make better maps. If you have made video's or LP's (Let's Play series) of my maps, then thank you very much!

There used to be a bigger version of this thread a few months ago, but someone removed it due to "not fitting in the forum category". It used to fit before, but they changed the forum section name (so it wouldn't fit), and then removed the thread. They told me, and a bunch of other users, that they would make a dedicated section, but months later we see no change. The old thread is still locked, and nobody can see it. Tons of (30+ pages) players who wanted friends to play with just get denied. So in order to prevent that from happening again, this thread is being remade and placed in the "most appropriate section" possible. Since people usually look for friends to play survival with, this thread is being made in the Survival Mode Discussion mode section.
Rules are simple. Copy the template and fill it out, and wait for someone to contact you. Be sure to read the other posts before making your own in case there is someone who already meets your needs! You don't have to fill out everything if you don't want to, but make sure to provide a detailed way to contact you.
Aside from this thread, another place to look for a friend is the "Minecraft Buddies" subreddit:

I realize this is a bit late, but I was looking for something like this too and couldn't fine one. So created one myself, but not sure if this is the best way or not. Maybe someone can find a more simple machine to do this. Might be overthinking this.
When you turn the lever On or Off, a signal will go to the note block and it will play a tune.
The repeater in front of the torch has to be on state 0, and the one beside the torch has to be on state 1.

A lot of players build their regular things in Minecraft and then get to a point where they don't know what to build. This generator is to spark some inspiration in players' minds to help them overcome that obstacle.
This thread is for discussing the generator, showing your builds from the generator, asking for help on a certain build the generator gave you, helping others on how to build something the generator gave them, or just really anything related to the generator.
Update (3/5/17): The random build generator that was originally used for this thread has been replaced. The owner of that website has been contacted. In the mean time, here are 2 other generators:1: http://randomminecraft.com/build (Has a "What should I build?" along with "What should I do?"2: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/69153218/ (Need to press SPACE BAR to get a new random build generated)Update(3/6/17): The old generator is back after a chat with the owner. The other 2 generators linked here can stay in case players need extra ideas.Update (6/6/18): Generator is working again! Contacted itpuddle on twitter and they provided working link.
Tips on becoming a better builder:
If you get stuck and don't know how to build something the generator gives you, then try a Google image search. Look around and see what the structure it told you to build is, but don't build exactly what you saw. Use your imagination and build something that belongs to you. This way you will be forced to think for yourself which will help making you a better builder.
With that aside, let's see what the community can do with this amazing generator!
Disclaimer: I didn't make this program. Owner of the program is "puddle". Click here for puddle's twitter and thank them for the awesome generator!

I may be wrong, so feel free to correct me, but the reason why a lot of mod versions were skipped are because there were a lot of changes going from 1.7.10 to anything higher. As you probably know, a lot of mods are still stuck on 1.7.10, but plenty just skipped ahead, even to 1.10. Since the mods took so long to come out, they didn't bother with trying to make the mods work for everything below 1.10 since 1.10 was the current version at that time.
It would be a huge waste of time trying to make the mods work for every single version, so they just focused on the current minecraft version. And since the mods were taking a long time to update, the "current version" kept going up, meaning 1.8 was skipped, 1.9 was skipped, and then the mods finally updated for 1.10.

GAHHH! Don't just say "I fixed it" without posting how you actually did it! It's so infuriating when people do that. I google a question and find a relevant thread, only to see OP fixed the issue without explaining how he did it!!!!
EDIT: Fixed it!!! I had the pack.png in the right place as Alvoria said, but the problem was that the file was called pack.png and the file was a png file. I think the folder thought the file name was pack.png with the file type .png. Meaning it thought the file was pack.png.png. I removed the .png I put it so the file was called only pack, and when I reloaded the client, the image showed up in the resourcepack part of the client.

The thing about challenges is that it needs a clear way to "finish". If you just list a bunch of things a player can do and not do, it just becomes a survival game after some time. That's the #1 problem with challenges players make.
As far as answering your question about whether it has been done before or not, I've seen similar things like this, but that shouldn't really be a problem if you come up with your own unique way of doing it.

A lot of players feel like they've cheated if they switch from survival to creative to avoid dying, losing items, or just getting items that are too hard to get.
But on topic. I think it all depends on how much time you've got. If you are planning on building something big and impressive, it's going to take a long time even in creative. Even more in survival when you factor in the gathering materials, avoiding and killing mobs, running around, eating, and whatever else.
I can see where you're coming from when you talk about it not feeling rewarding when you build something in creative, but you've got to understand the limits of what is realistic in survival, and what isn't. Yes you could build almost everything in survival as you could in creative, but the time you spend on gathering the materials and just surviving could have been used to build another structure in creative. If you've done survival in the past and know how to survive, you might as well just do it in creative.

In those cases, something might have just gotten "stuck". Best to close out and see if the money was taken from your account or not.
Usually you closing the screen won't close the request for the account, so it should work eventually in the background. But if it's been a while, money was taken from your account, and your account is still not premium, it would be good to contact customer support and explain what happened. They can fix this stuff pretty easily.

That site seems sketchy...it credits the mod author but doesn't link to the mod author's download link...it links to their own version. Meas it can easily have some sort of malware or adware mixed in with the mod. Are you sure players should be going to that site to download mods and not the official forum threads and websites?

Definitely. Players need to learn to move on and accept changes. That's how games are, that's how games evolve. Latest versions have new and better content and usually have more stuff to do.
