2. Jar file association may be broken on your computer.
Try reinstall Java 7 and run the jar again.
If it does not work, run it from command line and read console output.

I've tried running the installer both from the Downloads folder and from the .minecraft folder, running a clean install of Minecraft. Any ideas what could be causing this?
