What I like to do is just build a base and expand it drastically. The styles range from underwater, to underground, to above ground, to skybase, but they all serve the same purpose, and thats to support a player with infinite resources within their base structure.
My next plan is an underground structure. I'm thinking a simple fallthrough doorway that opens to something massive. Like a buried cathedral or something.
