posted a message on Quick question about upcoming pistons
The mod works as said above, powered will extend it and unpowered will retract it. Timing is very important, since, with the way the mod works now, a piston's piston will break off if it intersects another piston's arm or a block while moving. Poor timing will result in broken pistons which need to be broken and replaced.
With the way redstone is functioning now (or not functioning) I don't see piston's working very well even if they are patched to 1.5.1. Both the intersecting piston glitch and redstone stability need to be fixed before this mod is properly implemented. Don't hold your breath. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if, after 1.6 comes out, Notch blogs that he won't be adding pistons and that we'll have to wait until "2"/Full comes out for proper mod implementation.

posted a message on Redstone problem... having an issue with a circuit.
I've had the same problems since 1.5 with pulse generators and 'edge detectors' plugged into RS NOR latches for counters. If the pulse is too short, it won't travel up more than about 4 blocks higher than the origin of the pulse. Try wiring your circuit differently and see if you can get a 'flat' version to work.

I wonder how the CPUs are doing with 1.5. If our humble little creations are acting unpredictable, massive circuits must just crash to a halt.

A little OT, but has anyone noticed that TNT lags much much more with 1.5?

I haven't tried this, but I know it won't work. At all. Minecarts don't travel through items on the tracks, and the cart will hit and stop when it encounters any item, before you have a chance to pick it up.

    No :Diamond: for you.

posted a message on Notch decides not to add a mod API
Its all of us that made Notch rich and gave him the company he now has. Instead of putting more resources into Minecraft to complete it and make it better, he's putting those resources into the scam of a game, Scrolls, that is their next money grab. He's trying to make as much money off of Minecraft as possible. And what better way to do it than an online trading card game. Instead of thanking us for making him rich by giving us the game we paid for, he's trying to squeeze even more money from us.

    Thanks :iapprove:

posted a message on New Glitched Lever Placement
A while back I saw a video where someone used a dispenser to fool a lever into placing itself in mid air. I've found a new way of placing a glitched lever into the world. The bounding box around a piece of placed redstone is a tiny, flatish cube. If you try to place a lever on one of the tiny sides of the outline of the bounding box of the redstone, you'll get a glitched lever.

The glitched lever is actually better in some places than a normal lever, because its default position it straight up, while turning it on puts the handle much lower, making both states very easy to recognize from a distance. Much better than the default placement of levers, which, on walls especially, makes no sense.

posted a message on HACK III - Minecraft's Most Powerful Computer to Date
Hey, great work! I'm constantly amazed by the things people manage to do with redstone. Since playing with the Piston's mod, I've been working on Piston printers. I wonder whether your 'computer', or some variant would be able to play a role in a piston printer.

The simplest printers need only to store around 9 bits, printing a 3x3 two color 'page', which doesn't need much storage or computing. But once you start adding dimensions and colors, things get crazy. The current design I'm working on now involves a printing head that can print 8 different colors and prints a 5x5x5 block, a 3D printer. Depending on the output desired, blank space can be filled with glass and broken one by one once printed, or wool and burnt off after printing.

I need a way to input and store 125 3bit values, and then decode them into the printer head, along with the proper delays to avoid jamming and the proper parsing to insert the printer commands such as 'push line forward' every 5 printed and 'push slice up' every 25 printed.

As far as future printing goes, as long as pistons maintain the ability to push 16 blocks, the upwards limit to a 3D Piston Printer would be 32x32x32, using 8 printer heads at the 8 corners of a 32^3 cube. With over 32k blocks, and 3 bits needed per block, thats almost 100k bits needed.

Any suggestions you, OP, have would be great.

posted a message on Notch's Rushing of the Update is Immature
These updates area a *gift*. There is no reason for Notch to finish the game or update it. He's just doing it because he likes making games and such. Notch has made enough money on this game to retire to a moderately prices island for the rest of his days.

If he had said 'everything to fix before 1.5 is done', it would have meant that nothing is fixed and everything for 1.5 needs fixing before 1.5 is done. But he said 'almost everything to fix', which means that most of the fixes for 1.5 aren't done yet, so we won't see 1.5 for a while.

But what he really means is that he had got a little bit more to do, maybe about a pot of coffee worth, and then it will be done. He just wants to see us go nuts first by tweeting, for inspiration.

Delay the outside ones so they detonate behind the middle ones in a V formation, shooting the middle most TNT forward at warp speed.
