Hey Frost, so I was wondering wether or not your using Forge to develop Futurecraft. If not, What program or process are you using? As when the time comes to code content, I'd like to help.
@Lightspeed!!!!
You could have at least given me a warning before banning me from the forum!
1) The email address for contacting the forum admin doesn't work.
2) This Sucks.
3) I will post a download to the original FC creative server map when I am unbanned.
@Frosty That is simply amazing, Bravo!
Do you have a guestamated statistic for the necessary system requirements of these servers?
I'm not entirely understanding how escape pods will work. Nobody has talked about them in a while and I have heard the op is outdated. Also, a few posts ago fr0stbyte posted some video and I don't understand. I think he may of tried to explain it but my head is very tiny and I cant process all that really crazy wording, please translate, what's the video about?
Hi etechman18, thanks for taking the time to respond. I'm Tell31, also called DuxTell on fc-mod.com. I've been supporting this mod sense its beginning so I (to the best of my ability) understand the context of what Fr0stbyte is talking about. And then spend an hour typing a response.
To start to understand what first posted you need to first understand the design of how Futurecraft's multiplayer aspect will work.
The normal "Vanilla" minecraft multiplayer environment is run from a single computer called a server, dedicated to managing & calculating everything that happens "in-game", including storing all the data.
Because of this, a regular minecraft server is constrained in 2 ways.
The first is the servers calculating power, this includes its RAM also called Random Access Memory. Also included is the server's CPU GHz frequency, which is pretty much the speed it can preform calculations.
The second is its internet connection, this includes bandwidth and ping. A computers bandwidth can be compared to a pipe. If you were to compare two pipes, one with a larger radius than the other. The pipe with the largest radius would be able to transport more water than the other. In this analogy, the water is the data being transported over the internet. A computers ping is how long it takes for a signal from your computer to travel to another computer over the internet and then go back to your computer.
Internet Connection effects the lag and number of players that are able to connect to a server.
Calculating power effects the how much "stuff" the server can effectively handle at one time.
Ok got all that? Good.
Now futurecraft is going to be set up in the "Tree Network Topology".
Each of these green circles represents a computer. Each level is a hierarchy in order from top to bottom: Client, System, and Universe.
As I hope you know, Futurecraft is exclusively a multiplayer mod. Futurecraft will have 3 levels of hierarchy of which computer(s) will be a part of. The client level is all of the individual players. The system level is where all the "gameplay" occurs. Each system is a "Instance", containing one minecraft dimension for outer space, and one or more (depending on good the server is) dimensions for planets. Because of this, the system-level hierarchy will be the workhorse of the network.
In each Futurecraft Network, there will only be 1 Universe level server. The Universe server handles all of the auditing of the servers for cheating. As well as transferring player and ship data from one system-level server to another, this simulates making a intergalactic hyperspace jump (or what we eventually call it).
Now you have the Background information!
So now on to explaining Fr0stbite to you.
What he was talking about is paying for a Cloud-based Amazon database. This database would alleviate system-level servers of having to manage data that is not used often but still takes up the same amount of processing power as data that's used constantly.
If a player needs to use that data, the system-lever server points the client to the amazon database for that data.
Basically Renting a database could improve the speed and efficiency of futurecraft, while staying relatively cheap.
And we have even better filters to work with than that, like mesh contours, heightmaps, and LOD,
These are all just fancy computer science terms for a faster, better, stronger, efficient, futurecraft!
Which are simply a biproduct of the new render pipeline.
In order to allow players to actually be able to view their kilometer long dreadnoughts created in futurecraft, Fr0stbyte has created a new render engine from the ground up. An example of its powers is that in theory you will be able to see your house from orbit.
Also, my friend claimed to have found a leaked version of futurecraft in a youtube video description. The video was deleted like right after, but I went to his house and it works! There isn't much in it, and copying it to anywhere crashes the computer, AND he had to code a launcher for the mod, but it had future craft stuff in it and if he opens it it crashes every five minutes. Also, any background programs or other running programs will crash it if they are on at the same time. What should I make of this?
Well, their used to be a programmer called "Danice" that had a alpha-level power system for futurecraft. But anything more than that is bull though. I've been with this mod sense its infancy, and I've never seen, nor heard of the properties in a released alpha that your describing.
I did something very complicated, so complicated it will blow your mind, has more digits than Pi and uses a 52 lettered alphabet where each two letters combine into a new letter and if all those letters are combined you get a word representing awesomeness (Which will be about 1.706765552741321719742779146915e+89 letters long).... Anyway it's working now .

I honestly think 'epic' is too small of a word for what you were describing.

Dude, on the futurecraft-forum theres a topic full to the brim with Warhammer40K ships. I think you might like to check it out, just saying.

That was just a dream of heaven hyperlite, nothing more.

Just saying, maybe you should update the OP before telling people to go read it.

What are you referring to?
Or is this just a complement to our general awesomeness
