A lot of the reason they are laggy is because it's a mod without a source code or a developer's kit, and that minecraft itself isn't very optimized.

I don't really care for the discussion, but just throwing that out there. If there was a dev kit, the mods would work much better.

Or if Notch just incorporates them (and of course, puts his own spin on it). I find Millenaire to be well thought out and well implemented, with villagers slowly building houses that take the terrain into consideration. Notch's npc villiages probably look much like what Millenaire started out as in it's beginning stages.

My main problem with millenaire is the lag. It's terrible at times. Other times it's good. It's the best mod I play, though. As someone said, Notch should just cut this guy a check. He's done it before.

Is there any mod that will completely nix the rain? It was kind of neat to begin with, but now I've grown to hate it. You can't play in it, so you just camp out until it stops, but it never stops!!

Anyway, any mods to stop it?

They might as well be nixed. I can count on two fingers the times I've ever run across one (and I've done dozens of new maps since). ...and the one I happen to be standing in now spawned in water so there's no way to get in any of the houses without adding your own blocks).

Either way, Notch is going to be hard pressed to match the level of Millénaire villages. He probably knows this.

i have the same problem and it only started with 1.8.1 :/. i had 2 gigs of ram ( low i know) its sad that i cheaped out on ram cause everything else in my computer is pretty upper spec. and i had a out of mem crash about ever half hour, so i bought more ram upped it to 4 gigs and now it crashes every 5 minutes? like what the hell, ive tried mo-ram and i even tried a youtube video for help where you type the line in on the java control pannel to allocate more memory and that didnt even work? java is even set as the highest priority!

    i running windows 7
    with a core 2 duo 2.66 ghz
    a nvidea geforce gtx260
    4 gigs of ram

not to bash but mojang or notch or jeb lol needs to get there act together? its so close to final release and they keep pumping more and more **** in and not concentrating on bug fixes and memory leaks and making the game run smother? also from what i understand and mac user who isn't running on snow leapord cant even run minecraft past the start menu/

Yeah, great game but performance has been horrible since day one. My rig can run most anything I throw at it, but Minecraft brings it to it's knees. Shame they built the whole thing using Java. It was never meant for a program this large.

Is java installed at C:/Program Files, C:/Program Files (x86) or both of these?

It's a 32 bit machine, so it's only in Program Files.

    Allocate more RAM to minecraft.

No mods and I've got 4 gigs of ram. Minecraft is getting plenty of memory (as I mentioned it's only using about 20%). This only cropped up with 1.8.1, so something buggy in this release.

After updating to 1.8.1, I'm getting out of memory crashes about every 5 minutes. Was fine with 1.7.3. Updated java and video card drivers. Still crashes. F3 only shows about 20% memory used.

Anyone else seeing this? Does 1.9 pre fix it?

Animals should duplicate when you bust them out of the box. One goes in, two come out.

I was having the same problem. I started from scratch and reinstalled everything and still had lag.I finally left out MCpatcher and went back to default texture and my lag stopped.I'll wait for Optifine to update for HD textures. What are you using for textures?

Just standard textures, but there's a couple other mods in there like mini map and SPC. I'll try from scratch and see what's up, but it only lags (like hell) in the villages. Else were MC runs just fine.

What are you guys doing about lag? This is my favorite mod and I pretty much don't play without it, but the lag is killing me. I'm lucky if I get 5 fps in towns and it's all Millénaire.

Me thinks Notch needs to hire more programmers. MC is a professional game now and should have more than 2 part time programmers. We see the result of this with 1.8 really only being half done and we must wait for the rest "at some time in the future"...

Meanwhile, mods like Millenaire's NPC village are going like gangbusters.

In answer to nhgriffith, yes, if a town won't build because a lack of space, if you flatten land out, they will build again.

MY problem is that NPCs get stuck in their houses or out in the yard and do not come to the main building to let you sell stuff. Happens all the time now (using latest version).

I've also seen more than once, where an NPC jumps up and down inside taking damage until they die. Respawn and repeat forever...

Oh, and the horrible, horrible lag. Ctrl-Shift-P doesn't help.

Let me just say, though, that this mod has changed the way I play MC. Couldn't think of playing without it now.
