You guys keep your micros, gameboys and psps, I still have my old muddy rock and I'll just play it's massive library of games like: catch, fetch, pet rocks adventure time, pet rocks Babbyz gravel edition and super sit there rock. There is nothing wrong with getting a newer and presumably shinier system. Personally I plan on picking up a psp cheap when the psp2- okay ngp (yeah right) comes out, as a hack toy. I'll probably grab a 3ds when I manage to get a job and hopefully by then nintendy will have released a smaller one
The most simple way to remove grinding is to add enemy level scaling, meaning you gain nothing from leveling because the enemies are the same level. The only problem is that makes leveling completely pointless other than to get shiny new abilities.
Oblivion did this well, you get new armors and weapons as you level, but by the time you reach the level needed for them to appear, the enemies are strong enough to make the new armor not make you much better.
This mentality annoys the heck out of me. seriously though if the enemies scale with you what's the point of leveling at all? you might as well not level at all and without mods oblivion proves this is a terrible idea. I wanna see my guy get tougher why deny me that?
Everyone seems to agrees that *more* copy protection would suck (hey, there's already a crude login verification to play multiplayer and update), so can we, as a community, move on please? There's currently two pages of people agreeing with themselves at different levels and going nowhere.
The burn the heretic thing was intended to be funny I felt this was starting to derail into angry shouting not a discussion. as to my ability to play without remakes, I'd rather play a remake because my ds is rather more portable then a computer and I find it easier to actually enjoy games I've purchased. look This topic isn't going to change anyone's beliefs on the subject but I agree there isn't a great deal of change between Zeldas. again I'd like to say that taking something I enjoy and adding new improvements to the formula Isn't always a bad thing. I'm pretty excited about skyward sword thought because it looks like it has a good chance of addressing your desire for change with my desire for more zelda :tongue.gif:
Oy you lot seem to have trouble with this: stealing is bad. it's cool if it's only for demoing purposes however. just don't support piracy of any game no matter the dev size. this Is why they make demos. yes it's not the end of the world but still most of us were taught the whole stealing is bad thing in kindergarten for gods' sakes
Hi I'd love to help people with their projects, flashes, games, etc. I'm a writer looking for opportunities to practice, a gent who'd love to do some voice acting, and a very inexperienced programmer in c++ (one year of a high school class not enough people for programing 2 next year) . Like I said I'd love to help. seriously though you'd be doing me a favor I'm kinda bored.
I like what skyward sword is doing with the combat. I just hope you can adjust speed/difficulty so I can fight gannondorf on realistic and say I actually beat him in a sword duel. also about the topic: Burn The Witch!
As a Nintendo fan boy I feel a deep need to say: Burn the heretic. I beg to differ on the whole getting stale thing. the real common thread in them is puzzles, linearity, dungeons, and doofy green hats. it seems to me like you could make an equally strong argument how fps are getting stale, I mean look at how they all use the boring old shotgun? I mean in unreal you shoot things, in madden you pay money every year for a terrible game just to get updated rosters, and in Zelda you stab things and solve puzzles. Arguably you are claiming that none of the Zelda titles really innovate and there's some merit in that, but there's a strength to keeping a strong base and building off of that. practically any Zelda game introduces enough new wrinkles and enough quality game time I'd say they're valid games. as for final fantasy, what do you expect besides a jrpg. I understand you think the remakes are stupid, but as a gamer who never got the chance to experience the originals I'm very glad for the remakes. I'll proudly say chrono trigger and Final fantasy VI enriched my life
