teckmaster posted a message on Mouse Pads
    Quote from karlzhao314»

The general consensus is that mouse pads really don't matter all that much, not even for gaming. I'm about to get a "gaming" mouse pad only because it's the only one available that can cover my entire desk, not because I need the tracking surface.

Thats funny because many top tier mice are very selective and don't work on most surfaces unless you have a quality mousepad. Sorry but your statement is grossly false, as someone whos been gaming for his entire life and also played competitively, I understand full well the value of a good mousepad.

OP: I use a steelseries 9hd but wouldn't mind switching back over to a cloth pad in the near future.

Quicktime and screenflow are pretty much the only screen recorders available for mac, so you don't have a large selection. The worst part is NONE of them are any good, so I guess you can either not record anything or install windows... Serves you right, Macintosh user :).

Right, right, this is like saying an Artist that is new and does poor art is poor artist because they use an Mouse instead of a Digitizer Tablet. No, it does not work that way, it is Skill that matters, not the tools being used.

    ?

why is it so hard to believe? There are people on that site touching 200wpm, why would a hiscore of 140 be so far fetched?

doesn't take a genius to know membrane is slower for typing. My keyboard requires a decent amount of force and has a moderate travel distance. My macbook is the exact opposite, my macbook is where i get 140wpm because my desktop keyboard is garbage for fast typing.

rudolfs001 posted a message on Rollcroft - Small Community Semi Vanilla Server

UPDATE: New forum thread here. New ip: play.rollcroft.com. New dynmap link: map.rollcroft.com. This thread and post will no longer be updated.

    ----------------------------------READ THE ABOVE---------------------------------

I have a server (1.10.2) that a few friends and I play on, we've decided to call it Rollcroft. There are only a few plugins (Permissions, mcmmo, LWC(chest protection), CoreProtect). We have extensive anti-grief plugins, so there's not much to worry about. We're just looking for a few more people to play with us, and might eventually add a few more plugins, based on what people want. When the few of us play, there is no lag.We play with no agenda, just doing whatever we fancy.

Here's a video showing some of the builds of our longest (~2 year old) map, Amalgm:

Here's a video of the map before Amalgm, Fridge (~1.25 years)

Thank you to Splodger1 for putting these together!!

This is a server trailer also put together by Splodger1:

    Dynmap: map.rollcroft.com

This server is 24/7 and has been online since May 11, 2011. 24 slots.

    Before you join:
We typically have 4-8 people online at a time. We don't want this server to be super busy.
There are no /give and very few /tp commands.
This is near-Vanilla. Everything is built legit.

    IP= play.rollcroft.com

    Application for whitelist:
1.) How long have you played?
    2.) How old are you?
3.) What kind of playing do you like to do?
    4.) IGN (In Game Name/username)?
5.) You do realize it's near-vanilla survival, and you'll probably die at first, right?

    Important:Read the /motd (anti-grief plugin)

    What does "near-Vanilla" mean?

This server is meant to be "life-like" in a few ways:No flying, no free items, no teleporting. If you do something a lot, you become good at it (mcmmo). If you want to trade with people, you have to be physically present (no permanent shops). There is a cost to dying (you can use /back for the cost of 1 gold ingot).

Description of our monthly dragon event:

Each month, around the 15th (usually on Saturday at noon central), we have a Dragon Hunt event. A second end world is created exclusively for this event. A portal to the second end is hidden somewhere in the world, with clues given to finding it. The first person to find the portal, kill the dragon, and get the egg gets to keep it.

CyborgDragon posted a message on [TOOL] Cyborg's Tools - MCNostalgia 1.0.4
See here for MCNostalgia 2.0, sonicrules1234 is taking over for now, perhaps indefinitely. I'm tired of Minecraft, and will see you all again in a few months when I grow bored due to the lack of new games. Thank you, all.

I am not responsible for any damage you do to your computer using these tools. If you don't trust them, you can look through their code yourself, just open them up in a text editor.

Cyborg, how can I best contact you?
On Esper.net IRC, in the channel #risucraft

    MCNostalgia v1.0.4
    2.0 is a complete rewrite being co-produced with sonicrules1234
MCNostalgia is a tool that takes binary difference patches and applies them to the latest version of Minecraft, essentially reverting it to an older version, without ever distributing any .jar files illegally. Binary difference patches are made by taking the differences between two files, one is the source/old file (in this case the latest version of Minecraft), the other is the output/new file (in this case an older version of Minecraft). To patch the files, MCNostalgia requires Minecraft to be unmodified, that means no imported textures even.

Installation - Heads up, this is really really simple, for both Windows users and Mac users, got it?
    Windows Users
    1. Download the 'Windows' version of MCNostalgia and the patches. If you really want to use the python form instead, download the 'Other' version and make sure you have python installed.
    2. Extract the archive to any folder.
    3. Run MCNostalgia, it should enter Configurator mode.
    4. Choose which options you would like enabled, if you want it to work with different directories than the default ones, you will have to modify the config yourself. It is recommended that you leave errors and logging enabled. Close MCNostalgia and run it again.
    Mac Users
    1. Install Python 2.7.X (NOT 3.X.X) if you don't have it already.
    2. Download the 'Other' version of MCNostalgia and the patches.
    3. Extract the archive to any folder.
    4. Run MCNostalgia, if it doesn't run from a double click, try running it via terminal or a shell script with the command "python MCNostalgia.py", it should enter Configurator mode.
    5. Choose which options you would like enabled, if you want it to work with different directories than the default ones, you will have to modify the config yourself. It is recommended that you leave errors and logging enabled. Close MCNostalgia and run it again.
    Linux Users
    1. Install Python 2.7.X (NOT 3.X.X) if you don't have it already.
    2. Install bspatch if you don't have it already, using "sudo apt-get install bsdiff" (or something similar, it differs between flavors)
    3. Download the 'Other' version of MCNostalgia and the patches.
    4. Extract the archive to any folder.
    5. Run MCNostalgia, if it doesn't run from a double click, try running it via terminal or a shell script with the command "python MCNostalgia.py", it should enter Configurator mode.
    6. Choose which options you would like enabled, if you want it to work with different directories than the default ones, you will have to modify the config yourself. It is recommended that you leave errors and logging enabled. Close MCNostalgia and run it again.
    Other Users
MCNostalgia also hopefully supports SunOS/Solaris and other Unix systems, to match Minecraft. However, I am in no way positive if python or bspatch supports your OS, nor if this tool will even work. It probably will, so long as python does, but I'm not sure. For the most part, it should follow the Linux instructions.

    Usage
Patching - Since so many people are having brainfarts, this is what you use to go back to previous versions.
    1. Choose a version in the patches and copy all the ptch files as well as the checksum file into the bin folder where you extracted MCNostalgia to. The files, not the folders.
    2. Run MCNostalgia
    3. Choose Patcher
    4. Play Minecraft!
    UnPatching
    1. Run MCNostalgia
    2. Choose UnPatcher
    3. Play Minecraft!
    Changing Verbosity Settings
    1. Run MCNostalgia
    2. Choose Configurator, this will run the Configurator again for you to configure the settings again.
    Custom Setup
So you want to have this tool, for example, patch minecraft that's not in your application data? Well, crack open MCNostalgia.ini and let's take a peek.
appdata = blahblahblah - This line points to where minecraft.jar, lwjgl.jar, lwjgl_util.jar, and jinput.jar are
    bin = blahblahbla
h - This line points to where the backup and logs will be saved, and where the .ptch files should be
As a reminder, I am not responsible for anything you break by altering these settings.

    History
1.0.4 26/09/2011 - Fixed issue with people using single quotation marks in folder names.
1.0.3, 19/09/2011 - Added line telling people where to put their patch files if MCN can't find them. Added versions to checksums. Added timestamps to logs. Individual patches are now zipped individually, so you no longer have to download five files for one version. Logs are now saved constantly, instead of when program is closed (because that didn't always work).
1.0.2, 29/05/2011 - Now catches all errors, rather than just where they were likely. Errors should now print line number as well. Fixed issues with macs. If the back up already exists, it will try to back up again anyways, to ensure it has the files to patch. MCNostalgia will now close after running the Configurator; this is to prevent the issue where the other options stop working after the Configurator is run.
1.0.1, 29/05/2011 - Improved OS detection. Checksum file is now read when you start patching instead of only when you start up MCNostalgia, so you can hot swap the patches and checksum file while MCNostalgia is running. MCNostalgia no longer quits upon starting if there is no checksum file in the bin folder. Included msvcr90.dll for those of you who don't have it.
1.0, 28/05/2011 - Partial rewrite. Fixed issues with macs and linux(hopefully). Added checksums. Got rid of alerts as they were only used in two places. Added exe version for Windows so they don't have to get python. You will have to redownload patches for this version, as each set of patches now include a checksum file.
0.7, 25/12/2010 - Minor fixes, patches are in a separate download now so that they may be updated without having to redownload the tool itself
0.6, 24/12/2010 - Removed two debug prints, added checks for missing ini/ini options
0.5, 24/12/2010 - Python implemented, more idiot proofing
0.2, 22/12/2010 - First public release, minor improvements to batch scripts
    0.1, 21/12/2010 - Test release

Do not post these links else where, as it can only end up hurting users and me alike. It can hurt users from lack of information, and it can hurt me from potential loss of profit. It also hurts users because I delete the old files and links every time I update MCNostalgia, and so the links, being placed elsewhere, become broken. Instead, link to this thread.

By downloading, you agree that you have read this section(MCNostalgia), in its entirety, and that if you ask a question answered in this section, you are informed that I may ignore you.

    Legality
A lot of people question the legality of this. Well, it is not directly redistributing the minecraft jar files. It is the differences between the latest jar files and older versions. The difference("patch") files will not work without the files that need to be patched, in this case, the latest version of Minecraft. They will not work with anything else. Now, this clears it of one part of the forum rules, but not the illegality. Well, to clear that up, I've contacted Mojang multiple times, and they have been made aware of it at least twice, their response wasn't much, but I take it as a "do what you will." If they ask me to take it down in the future, I will.

VRAM is needed for high-resolution displays, RAM is needed for storing things to put on the display.

    Lol wut

A games textures and what is on the screen is loaded into the Vram, because you know the graphics card has to draw stuff quickly and it needs those assets available quickly. Higher resolution textures=more vram usage.

RAM is where the program itself is stored when it's running for fast interaction with the CPU.

I had a few personal requests to do these lower resolution textures. They still need heavy refinements but still came out pretty decent with the downsampling. I won't be doing compressed versions of these since it would simply be redundant.

    :-( ): Introduction

Hello there community! My name is Tyler Daddio. I have been programming for about a year and half now, mostly in Java. I began programming by taking a class at a local college and have been teaching myself ever since. Terrem began as a small game that I wanted to make to teach myself programming in a more familiar fashion. When it actually started to work well and it was actually enjoyable to play, I thought it would be a good thing to create and play with my friends. Maybe we could even have competitions to see who could make the best pixel art. Since then, Terrem has come a long way and I feel it finally has some substance that you guys may enjoy. So here it is!

    :-( ):Description

Terrem, at the moment, is in essence a 2D Minecraft clone. It won't be this way for long though! The Minecraft experience may be nice, but I think a new experience would be quite amazing, a Terrem experience! The goal for Terrem is COMPLETE freedom and customization. If you want to be a lord or knight protecting your towns from invaders, you can be. If you want to be a humble farmer who has a sense of adventure, you can be. If you want to be an experienced adventurer and scour the dungeons in the deep caves systems of the Terremian world, you can be. You can even be a nobody who wander aimlessly in a huge, seamless world with no other motivation except mining. That is the goal, complete freedom. Also, the ability to completely customize the world around you while playing the game! In game modding if you will. These are only some of the goals for Terrem, and they are getting closer to reality every day! But for now, it is a mere 2D Minecraft clone with some unique differences. December 9, 2012 -

    ~ Other minor bugfixes

Once again, sorry for the extended down time of everything and my lack of responsiveness. Things are finally back to normal so I am hoping to start doing weekly updates finally :D

    November 22, 2012 -
    - Quite a bit of work has been done over the past few days. Terrain generation has been revamped with larger continents and oceans. Trees don't form mazes anymore and look more natural by thinning out the further away from the forest they get. Some things I would rather get done today are:
    - Working with water
    - Add some more depth to the world
    - Have fun with the entity code
    - Fix some bugs

    November 15, 2012 -
    - Is anyone else drowning in work lately? Anyway, programming has been REALLY slow over the previous 5 or so days :/. I would just say give it until about Tuesday next week before I can get into some serious programming again. I am hoping to get a small update out this weekend with just some minor updates and features. That will be announced tomorrow if I can get to it.

    Past Entries:
    November 5, 2012 -
    - Just an update for what has happened in the past 4 days of development. So far, a 'Play Offline' button has been added to the launcher and many minor bugs have been fixed. Also, I added in a 'content-pack' idea thingy.. It allows you to have different packs of tiles, items, GUI, etc which you can switch between like texture packs. More will get done for 1.0_8 when more time gets opened up for programming (hopefully tomorrow).

    November 1, 2012 -
    - Update 1.0_7 has been released! Please make sure all changes you have made to the default tiles, textures, and GUI are backed up or put into their own texture pack before updating! Then, press the re-download button on the launcher to download the Alpha 1.0_7 update! Changes are mostly on the server-side application and a full changelog can be found on the launcher. Below are the features of the 1.0_7 update:

    Alpha v1.0_7 - November 1, 2012
+ Added dynamic rendering of level 1 tiles in SP and MP
+ Added ground items to multiplayer
    + Added entities to multiplayer
+ Added item swinging animation to Multiplayer
= Rehashed multiplayer code into more efficient formats
~ Fixed bad IP shutting down client
~ Fixed collisions setting in SP and MP
    ~ Sped up server connection
    ~ Other minor bugfixes
    * Entities in MP despawn when not in any client's loaded chunks

    October 21, 2012 -
    - Progress notes so far. (Yes, I am still here :D )

    - fixed collisions between chunks in Multiplayer
    - removed the 'numonline' command and added it to the 'online' command
    - recoded main server functions and reorganized code
    - added ban reason to banned player file
    - added whitelist to server
    - fixed terrain not being random on server
    - added nameplates over players in multiplayer
    - added FPS performance increases to multiplayer
    - changed zoom level of multiplayer interface

    October 17, 2012 -
    - Terrem Alpha v1.0_5 has been released! Just click re-download on your launcher to update the game! Also, any custom textures should be in their own texture pack before updating as well as any changes to the default tiles, items, GUI, etc
    - Multiplayer does not work in this release! Sorry for the inconvenience. I wanted to get the singleplayer updated as fast as possible. The multiplayer update will be released with Alpha 1.0_6 which will follow by bug fixes for the 1.1_0 release!
    - There is also an optional launcher update to fix the way operating systems are detected. This should fix some issues on Linux and certain versions of Windows.
    - Check the changelog for the features added in this version

    October 14, 2012 -
    - fixed monsters so they are layer specific
    - added on ground items! No longer do you just instantly receive the item after breaking the tile!
    - almost done with item labels (so you can see what item it is when hovering over it
    - fixing up the item swinging animation (possibly going to figure out 2D modeling so I can move certain parts of the body)
    - added some rough framework for entity-on-entity collisions
    - Multiplayer update will come after the 1.0_5 update. There are just so many things that need to be done that I will release the singleplayer updated version first.
    - After either the 1.0_5 update or the Multiplayer update (1.0_6 or 1.1_0?), weekly updates will begin with some random bug fixes inbetween. So no more wondering when an update will come out! :D

    October 12, 2012 -
