    CompactStorage Logo

Welcome to Compact Storage for 1.18 and 1.19!

It has been a while since I've had time to be working on my Minecraft projects but that time has finally come! Compact Storage has now been ported to 1.18 and 1.19 for both Forge (coming soon!) and Fabric. These two versions currently have complete feature parity and this will be the goal for the future updates too. For the mod, I plan on adding more creative and unique storage options in future updates. This port has simply been to bring the mod into the new versions of Minecraft to give me that room to develop more.

So, what is this mod all about?

Compact Storage started off as a mod that added different tiers of chests, it has since evolved into an upgrade based storage system. The Compact Barrel, Chest and Backpack all start off with a 9 x 6 inventory size (yes, this is an upgrade from previous versions!) and can be upgraded using the Storage Upgrades to a maxium size of 24 x 12 (see below!)

This allows for a lot of storage in one block space, this also carries over to backpacks which must be upgraded by putting the upgrade in your offhand and clicking the backpack! This mods focus is on dense storage with an accessible upgrade path. I have a lot of plans for advancing the progression through the mod so stay tuned!

    Crafting Recipes

    Compact Chest

    Compact Barrel

    Backpack

    Row Upgrade

Can be used to upgrade any of the storage options in the mod, adds one more row!

    Column Upgrade

Can be used to upgrade any of the storage options in the mod, adds one more column!

Any of the storage options can be dyed in world!

    Modpacks

You may use CompactStorage in any of your modpacks! All I ask is that you credit me and link back to this page!

    Issues

If you ever come across any bugs in CompactStorage or even think of features you would like to be added, you can create an issue over on my GitHub!

does what it says on the tin. It allows you to craft Horizontal Glass Panes

Comparison of full size Glass Blocks compared to Horizontal Panes
    Crafting
To craft simply put 3 Glass Panes (Stained or Not) in a row to get 3 Horizontal Panes (of the color you chose).
    Modpacks
You can use this in any modpacks, just let me know about it.

I just tried to move/relocate a 24x12 chest with a cardboard box from Mekanism (Hermitcraft ModSauce 2 pack). I set the chest down a few blocks away, removed the box (shift right-click). The console said, in red letters, "You attempted something bad! :(", and the chest reverted to vanilla chest size, and a few thousand ingots went bye bye.

How do we "safely" move these chests? Any chance to make them like the Draconic Chest, from Draconic Evolution mod, where they keep their inventory when you break them/move them?

The cardboard box issue isn't my issue, report it to Mekanism. How to move chests: Break them (or wait till 3.0)

The Compact Chest GUI is done, and InventoryTweaks support is also now working!

What Needs Fixing Before I Release (WNFBIR)

    • Backpacks
    • Chest Builder accepting material
    • Rendering
    • Add the first slot to render on top of the chest again

So you're going to complete a massive update for 1.7.10 and then just port it for 1.8? If so, then that should be quick, because I really want this modification for 1.8.

May not be "quick". 1.8 is a really bad update on the site of models, but I can just use the Vanilla Chest model, so we're all good. Not like BuildCraft, they would need I think it was estimated at about 28million blockstates and model files just for the PIPES alone. Puts stuff into perspective.

inb4 anyone: That would be about 1GB - 3GB of files just to get BuildCraft pipes. Everyone is waiting for forge to get a better rendering system :P

"Planet Minecraft" is spelled with a space inbetween.

Oh, and... congratulations, mate! Good job on this amazing modification!

By the way, can we expect a 1.8 version soon for Forge (Forge 1.8)?

Ok :P 1.8 when the update is done
