My suggestion is simple enough & I think everyone will like it.
So, you're on your favorite SMP server & you've just made yourself a bed, you plonk that sucker down & right click it. As usual, you lie down but something different happens. You are presented with the option of entering your very own creative mode world.
Get where I'm going with this?
Wait, there's more.
In addition to the ability to enter creative mode through the use of a bed, SMP players would be able to create adventure maps & share their creations with other players on the server.
The ability to download your creations is a given.
I think I got the general concept down. All those in favor say aye.

Jun 29, 2013(from wiki) Quad buffering is a technology for implementing stereoscopic frame rendering in computer graphics. For stereoscopic rendering, each eye must receive a separate image. Quad buffering uses double buffering with a front buffer and back buffer for each eye, totaling four buffers:Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Jun 29, 2013This could be by design, but the crosshair is tied to the red channel. it's on both channels, but the red one is on target. I have to focus pretty far out to switch them (my eyes) over, which isn't much of a fix considering it (red crosshair) all but disappears most times. Any solutions?Posted in: Java Edition Support

(I don't know why I titled it "SMP". Obviously, I meant multiplayer 'in general'.)
I propose that the exact same 'protection' assigned to a multiplayer world's spawn zone be distributed to players evenly by way of the bed item.
Factors such as difficulty & game mode are obvious candidates for core modifications to the (much needed) addition of a player-centric property protection mechanism.
Aug 30, 2012sushimaster posted a message on request: Vanilla SMP 'own blocks' bukkit alternativeIs there a server side mod for the mojang server software that assigns player ownership tags to unnatural blocks & prevents other players from breaking said blocks? I've used ownblocks with bukkit before, but I'd rather use the mojang software & I think there are easier (less resource intensive) & better ways to accomplish the same effect. If you're interested in working on a mod such as this, I have a bit of input.Posted in: Requests / Ideas For Mods
The major issue with own blocks was always something along the lines of some other player entering another players property & blocking up their door or otherwise locking them up. Perhaps there would be a way to assign a sort of 'aura' to placed blocks (property pins), preventing other players from placing anything near someone elses work. Also, perhaps a volume based prevention mechanism that would prevent another player from placing anything 'inside' an enclosed space 'owned' by another player. Other than that, perhaps an easy method (item based) of giving another player permission to place blocks on your property (locks & keys). Maybe also, an option to toggle mod approval to proposed property claims.
All that stuff just gives an idea as to how to add some fun into the concept.
On the simpler side of things, I suppose the easiest way to go about the intention would be to simply add multiple 'protected' zones (exactly like the spawn zone) around a players individual spawn point through the placement & use of beds.
If someone already produced an up to date equivalent, please direct me to it.
(woops, I didn't mean SMP... just MP)

Your the first person to actually respond with something... I like that! I just don't know if this is what I'm looking for. From the page, that is...
This isn't the first time I've run into trouble concerning mods. I always spend a load of time getting a group of mods working in single player only to be thwarted by the prospect of playing that modded version with my friends/family. If Spoutcraft is indeed what I'm looking for, awesome... I'm just no sure at the moment.
I think the whole process is being restricted by the fact that most people don't want to open their systems up to security threats. There are some of us who don't mind certain holes. I don't want to connect to the actual internet, I just want local support for multiplayer. If that would help make it easier for a mod to do the thing I'm requesting, then so be it... security can wait.
Oct 9, 2011okay, so I was too tired to get this sounding logical the other day.Posted in: Requests / Ideas For Mods
If I'm just retarded, let me know.
Why don't mods work on the server?
I installed the technic pack and it wont work over the server, the server wont even generate the right kind of world. shouldn't there be an easy loop hole to fix all these issues?
Like, a direct link between players on my server that syncs the world data?
IDk... any ideas or suggestions?
Oct 7, 2011Make a minecraft multiplayer mod! You think I'm retarded. Well, yeah... sort of.Posted in: Requests / Ideas For Mods
the internet? :laugh.gif:
Goal: Solve all SSP to SMP compatibility issues in a single motion.
How? The Trusted Zone.
Couldn't the game just use a shared .minecraft folder over the network & treat other players as physical entities with a modified input?
Get rid of the server altogether with some kind of extra lite ad hoc client mod. Effectively make everyone the host of their own changes. :wacko.gif:
