posted a message on How about fixes and UPGRADES instead of updates?
am I the only one who's tired of all the new things?

    Please tell me I'm not.

I know I've seen threads like this before, but it's seriously frustrating.

Every update, since alpha, has run slower and slower. Even on my gaming desktop, Minecraft is slow as hell.

Bug fixes need to be done, not just small fixes like 1.5 had, bur serious game engine fixes and updates.

STOP adding new items, address old buggy items, address problems with the Linux version (Including bugs that are still in it, since alpha.) Address horrid FPS.

I know I'm not the only one who's been having issues with Minecraft getting slower and slower every version.

    it's awful.

Minecraft used to run over 200FPS on my gaming desktop (numbers from beta 1.8)

Now, as of 1.5, my FPS has been sitting between 30 and 40.
    1.4 it sat around 60-70FPS

    that's a serious difference. how?

    My specs:
    AMD Phenom IIx4 955BE
    8GB DDR3 Ram, 10666mhz
    AMD Radeon HD7870 2gb 1GhZ edition.

it's definitely not a weak computer, it can run Metro maxed @30fps+

So really, what's the deal? People have been begging since the end of beta (and even before that) for Mojang to stop adding things, and fix previously released things (since they can't even release fully working features without having to put out 3 patches for each version.) and focus on FPS and bugs.

One thing Mojang seriously should consider is hiring a competent programmer, not a "game developer" but someone with a professional development background in Java, who can actually get things done properly.

Actually, another thing Mojang should do is learn to listen to their community better, and stick to their promises. (mod API, better lighting for 1.5, things like that.)

Update: after further testing, I've noticed the FPS dip into the mid 20's underground and in jungles. I've also noticed FPS dipping down to around 27 while building.

if I was a mod I would mute you for a day just because of how pointless of a thread this is.

However, I am not a mod. So instead I will tell you this: nobody cares

    Gentlemen, prepare your tinfoil hats...

the only ones who really should be nervous are the kids who go and pirate the game, even then if there is DRM there will be a way around it.

I dont know when they added this but I just hate it since when Im trying to sleep in a house and theres like a spider right outside and I cant sleep >.<. Basically I just want it removed.

would you be able to sleep if there was a giant spider bigger than a dog hissing and bashing at your window?

This might seem like an obvious question, but...

You have been updating your Java install (and making sure that you have 64-bit or 32-bit based on your OS) and keeping your video drivers up to date, right?

    Of course you have... right?

    yes, of course.

One topic I've noticed that's overlooked is minecraft's performance.

yes, there are lots of bugs, yes multiplayer is bugged, yes people complain about those, but I fail to notice much for complaints of performance.

I'll give you an example on my laptop.

    Core 2 duo t6500 2.1ghz/2.1ghz.
    4GB ddr2 335
    intel series 4 family chipset.

Mineraft went from beta 1.1 (60FPS) on high detail.

beta 1.4 (40 FPS) high detail.

Beta 1.8 (3 FPS) high detail (30 FPS) low detail

minecraft full 1.0 (20 FPS) low detail.

minecraft 1.1.0 (6FPS) low detail, 12 FPS with optifine.

there's something wrong here. that laptop can play oblivion, san andreas, halo 2, CSS, and a few other games at max settings, there's no excuse for minecraft to be dropping FPS that steadily.

    another example.

    Desktop

AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE @3.2 ghz
    Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD6850
    8GB DDR3 dual channel

minecraft beta 1.8 (130 FPS) max settings

minecraft 1.0 (123 FPS) max settings

Minecraft 1.1 (110 FPS) max settings. with the occasional lag spike.

even on a machine like that, you shouldn't be seeing 10fps performance hits per update.
And hell, This desktop can play crisis on max settings with better FPS.
we should change the saying from "but can it play crysis?" to "but can it play minecraft?"

Almost everyone I know with a laptop or desktop was able to play fine with 100+ FPS in the alpha's/early Beta's with highest settings. Now most of them are getting 30 to 60FPS on lowest settings with lag spikes.
most of them stopped complaining because we knew Notch wasn't listening, maybe Jeb will look into performance tweaking, and optimisation.

well, one can hope anyways, but I doubt it.

if it's that much of an issue teach your cats to stay off of tables/counters.

Would be tameable and be more fun then a dumb cat thats been added a thousand times to mods.
Mo creatures, very popular mod, have about 10 diffrent types of cat.. just for a example.

Can you imagine monkeys going around your house, holding bananas and going "HOO HOO HA HA".. yea that would be fun.

Now, we just got a shitty tameable pig sized mob that attacks certain passive mobs and tries to protect the player while getting in the way..
Sound familiar? yea, those are wolfs.. but now are ocelots.

Im not saying that there ruining minecraft, i just dont see why mojang even bothered adding them while theres beaming issues and much more cooler things to be added.

How many times have you seen a mod that adds cats? and if not often, how many times have you seen mo'creatures and how boring those cats are?

Im just asking if anyone else agrees with my ****ing opinion, im not one of those annoying fags who constantly complains.

Considering, as i said, that cats are way overdone and theres way more potential to a new mob, its very disapointing.

Get home from a bad day, find a new snapshot.. hoping from the hype earlier it would be something intresting and unique considering its jons first mob.. nope.

    1. don't like them, don't use them

    2. don't like what they add? don't play/ignore the addons.

    3. I like the addon, you don't. get over it, it's here, it stays. don't use them.

4.there are who do, there are who don't. I'd also appreciate if you didn't use fag in a bad way, it makes you look like an idiot and it could be offensive to people who have an alternative sexual orientation.

5.to me your post looks like a "WAAAAAA STOP LIKING THE THINGS I DON'T LIKE" post.

6.oh waa. they will always add other things. get over it. there where additions I don't like, but I didn't ***** and moan, it's THEIR game. don't forget that.
