With the four mobs, as they were originally presented, mob B really ended up being the most compelling of the four (in my opinion) and filled a perceived hole in Minecraft -- the lack of a flying hostile mob in the overworld. As for the other choices, mob D was just an oversized blaze which spawned in the Nether, some people seemed to think that mob C was undesirable because it could be used to remove enchantments (considered a bit too OP). With the final choice being between a deep ocean hostile mob and a high-elevation flying hostile mob, people ultimately chose the flying one. At the time of the vote, I don't think there was enough detailed information about the mobs for some people to see the flaws in how they would or could be implemented.

When posting suggestion threads, you are only permitted to include one idea (or closely-related group of ideas) per thread. This thread contains multiple unrelated ideas and is considered a wish list, which is not allowed.

Thread cleaned up. Just a reminder people, you aren't allowed to create a post simply to advertise or point out your YouTube channel.

If people have ideas for water, they can post their own suggestion threads -- there is no need for a dedicated thread asking for ideas.
Since the ideas in this thread already have their own threads, this thread is considered redundant.

AMPPL50 was responding to the OPs original recipe, which was "The same as the normal compass but the iron is replaced with gold". The OP adjusted their recipe after being informed about the conflict.

I focused on the OPs statement "adding a alternative craft to somethings (like the books)", which to me makes this thread (at the very least) about discussing ideas for alternatives for recipes that currently require killing mobs. Keep in mind that that is enough information for this to be a valid suggestion. The OP does not need to actually show any specific recipes.
Dec 28, 2017sunperp posted a message on Why did Mojang waste so many block IDs when they knew they were going to run out?Posted in: Discussion
According to the Minecraft wiki page on fences, it appears that they use the data value for the connection direction (1 bit each for N/S/E/W), so they had to use separate blocks for the fence material types.
Personally, I think it was a mistake for Mojang to not bump the data bits up from 4 to 8 during one of their major world format organizations (such as when they implemented the McRegion format).
Having 8 data/damage value bits would have consolidated lots of blocks that have both a material type and other requirements for the data bits.

I've tried to research, and I've found that there doesn't seem to be other sources of this statement, which is rather strange, as it should have been pretty easy.
In particular, I haven't managed to find the official statement.

Quite frankly, none of that really matters. At the end of the day the reason I watch certain people is because of their personality. Sure if they happen to be good at building or redstone or whatever, that's a bonus, but frankly I'm interested watching or listening to them because of who they are rather than what they do.

You probably found MC Beta 1.9, which was the 1.0 pre-release from four years ago.

Mature players are still as numerous as ever but have taken to actively avoiding servers frequented by younger players. The numbers of mature servers have increased significantly as older players become uncomfortable playing on established servers now overrun with children.
Feb 8, 2015Chameleonred5 posted a message on Is Minecraft becoming a childrens game? [Please read whole topic for full understanding]To a certain degree you're having this problem: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ItsPopularNowItSucksPosted in: Discussion
Minecraft is not becoming a children's game. It's no different from before plus a couple updates that have nothing to do with children. What's happening is that Minecraft is now recognized as something cool, and its simplicity and toy-like nature appeals to children even as its scope, story-building, and creative exercising appeals to everyone else.
Even if the fans who are now coming in weren't children, people would still complain about the newcomers for one reason or another. Be glad it's children and not anyone who can actually do any damage to the community. Because seriously, it's much easier to defeat all "Minecraft is for little kids" arguments than it would be to defeat any argument about how toxic Minecraft's community of horrible adults/teens is. If you haven't noticed, the teens/adults playing Minecraft are actually better than in most other communities.
The best part of all of this is that the children playing it today will become the adults/teens playing it in the future. Add to the massive fanbase a sense of responsibility that hopefully comes with age and all claims of childishness or immaturity mean nothing.

Please, please, please educate yourself. I mean it. I am not insulting you or anything, but you are so misinformed about our economic system and laws that you might be holding yourself back personally and professional.
Here is what you sounded like: The sky is blue because it holds the ocean in a force field above us and occasionally it weakens and that is why we get rain.
*** PLEASE, i beg the community and the moderators, a lot of your posters are young, and you have at least a little opportunity, and I think responsibility to clearly state when a fact is 100% wrong. A lot of opinions on this site are subjective, and that is fine, but when something is unquestionably wrong, it should be pointed out. ***
That you so much for helping him.
That doesn't equate to sales from a stockholder's perspective, but I understand where you are coming from.
This is pretty hilarious. You are calling down moderation on your own head, because you don't understand what the MS press release means. You are not posting from a position of authority, so please stop insulting everyone and looking dumb by doing so. The following link outlines why your entire premise is incorrect. Microsoft is not going to make $2.5B from Minecraft in a year, and they have not said that.
"No, Microsoft isn't saying Minecraft will make $2.5 billion in a year"
Even absent this proof, your logic that they could make $2.5B in a year fails the sniff test, and anyone who actually runs a company or knows what they are taking about wouldn't assume this was possible with the MS/Mojang situation. The fact that they have said "on a GAAP basis" means that their investment in Mojang will make more money back than $2.5B will make in interest just sitting in the bank.

People not using the pronoun you prefer? First world problems.
There are people who can't get jobs because they're female. There are people who can't get an education because they're female. (for that matter, when I was born, most of the Ivy League colleges in the US did not admit women) There are people who have no legal rights because they're female. Worry about that, not about pronouns.
I've spent all my life (since before women were allowed to vote in some European countries) as a real feminist, demanding one thing and one thing only: equal treatment. Not better, not worse, not special, just equal. I don't care if someone calls me he or she or han, only that they call me at all.

Minecraft video channels are over-saturated right now. There's absolutely no way of making it big unless you just get plain lucky, plain and simple. Simply starting with Minecraft is getting you no where. Unless you annoy people by spamming forums, other videos, and whatnot which will make people dislike you from the start, Minecraft is not the video game to get into the scene with. As Frog says, other games to gain a base following then mixing in Minecraft with it, is probably your best bet, but you will still have to be innovative enough for people to actually want to watch you.

Seriously, minecraft is ruined. I played since 1.3 beta, and I have seen it change for the worse since the hunger update (1.8).
So far out of this all I see are opinion based argument. So far you have only indicated a nostalgia factor is your main point of this thread. But please...continue.
It's no longer about making anything from a little house to a grand castle, it's now about adventure and boss fights and exploring massive abandoned mines.
It never was about making a small house or a grand castle. Minecraft has always been a game about doing whatever you want. Want to build that small house? Go for it. Want to fight bosses? Why not. Everything in the game is optional and always has been, never orienting itself to one playstyle over the other.
Minecraft has gone too far with the advent of all the new blocks. These are good for creative, but in my opinion, ruin the survival experience. It's over lavish, mojang is adding things when there is no need.
Again, Minecraft has never always been about the survival. Why is adding creative aspects so bad for Minecraft? Let's you be able to build new things, requires the need to get new materials. It's not like they are ignoring the survival aspect either. Skeletons have been buffed, horses has been added, zombies are now heat seeking missiles, hunger now works differently, all these changes are survival oriented. Mojang isn't trying to cater to the creative or survival playstyle, but a mix of the two, which is what they have been and are doing perfectly.
The upcoming addition of horses and hay is just stupid. What is this, my little pony!? Please don't kill me for saying that
OH GOD NO! This isn't a mod fest!
What's the point of this argument? Seriously, what is the point? Horses are now some sort of taboo? Please give me one reason why horses are a bad addition. They provide a new means of travel, they also open the opportunities of new minigames. As with all things in Minecraft they are optional to use, don't like them, don't use them.
Endermen, jungles, horses, hay, hunger and bosses may make it more 'interesting' and 'realistic' but now it's lost it's charm of doing what you want, just toddling along from day to day improving your settlement or moving on to a new one.
How in the heck are Endermen and bosses such as an Ender Dragon or Wither in any way shape or form realistic? Earlier you were just complaining about survival being neglected, now you're complaining about the survival aspect. Make up your mind already...
Have you noticed how let's plays are so different from the original seananners or yogscast (neither of which I particularly enjoyed)? The reason Shadow of Israphael has been canceled is that they were implementing too many ideas and it lost it's charm, just like minecraft.
Oh no, certain YouTubers have stopped playing the game. Yeah...it tends to happen when you play one game for far too long, it tends to lose it's touch. This isn't Minecraft exclusively, more like it happens for all games. The older generation leaves while a greater generation arrives in bigger numbers, which is why the Minecraft YouTube scene is still considered one of the largest gaming scenes on YouTube.
The ONLY thing I'm excited for the 1.6 update is the launcher update, where you can select any version of minecraft you want. Finally, I can play good ol' 1.3, with my friends, on a server, rather than having to go through the complicated process of finding the .jar file, openmod java and then slapping it altogether.
Good thing you are not completely shadowed.
I think this whole thread is stupid. Sorry if that's offensive, but you have yet to prove why Minecraft is going through a series of downfall. All you have provided is opinion based arguments that hold no merit and have no facts behind them. You want to hear facts? Here are some:
Minecraft is one of the highest watched streams on twitch.
Within the past 24 hours, Minecraft (just PC) has sold 9,576 copies, which is $258,073 worth in 24 hours. Enough to pay for 5 employees for a full year if they were paid $50,000 per year.
On the YouTube Top 100 list, there are about 6 channels that have Minecraft content, 2 of them is Minecraft exclusive (CaptainSparklez, skydoesminecraft), no other exclusive gaming channel makes that list (even Call of Duty surprisingly).
(Taken from a thread previously similar to this)
Minecraft is not going through a downfall, no, it's only increasing in popularity. You may think it's going through a downfall, but you are wrong. Your nostalgia mind makes you lose interest of the game, which is fine, it happens to everyone who has played a game for too long, but to make the claim that the game as a whole is dying only because you think it is, is just wrong.
