Hello Lurkers! I know I'm new here, but I have played minecraft since it's mid-beta. I slowly munched my way through this dense article of collaborative rumination up to this point and have a few things to suggest for those who want to listen.
I have thought that incorporating Ley Lines into TC3 could make it more dinamic.
WALL OF TEXT WARNING
In the State of Oregon there is a place called the Oregon Vortex, which is a location where Ley Lines supposedly cross creating a field where laws of physics bend. Gravity is slightly different, compasses refuse to work and other oddities of that nature. If you ask me I think it might just be a bunch of illusions, but this concept could add interesting dinamics to TC3. Here are my thoughts:
Ley Lines could be used to influence the movement of nodes. Maybe the nodes could follow certain Ley Lines or intersections. Maybe they might be repulsed or drawn to such intersections. Nodes could also be resistant to being forced over such lines if a player tries to move a node across one. Ley Lines could be either generate randomly or patterned. If the lines are patterned, like say in a grid to be unimaginative, this would create a community group of nodes inside a particular Ley Line Sector. Since there are already so many squares though in Minecraft, I thought that a grid of triangles would work because it would retain straight lines.
Ley Lines might influence where nodes form. The intersection between two lines might form a field in which is are favorable conditions for nodes to form. Maybe nodes are more common within a certain distance of Ley LineIntersections. Perhaps they are stronger within a certain distance from an intersection.
The third use for Ley Lines is to be the location of Thaumic formations. An intersection might be where you could find an Obelisk or a large collection of crystals.
So those are my current thoughts on Ley Lines and their Intersections.
I was also thinking about the teleportation debate. The idea of node dependancy is unique and would be fun, but ONLY if the nodes where 2D. When thinking about the nodes in a 3D sence, then the overlap of nodes would be less common. I think, however, that node intersection could play a part if the teleportation structure was built in an area of node overlap, possibly boosting effectiveness or something. Maybe Ley Lines could play a part?
I also had an Idea for a potion. in 1.4 there will be a potion of nightvision, so why not have a potion of Thaumic Sight?! it might be a minior research piece to add to potion brewing that could lead to Goggles of Thaumic Sight!
Let me know what you think! Thanks for reading my ramblings.
maybe if you placed or used something at the leyline intersections you could teleport to another leyline (randomized if used an unstable version of the item and not randomized if using stable), dat wud beh cuwhe
